Do people really enjoy this boring walking simulator?
I feel that people only pretend to like it because "LOOK IT HAS THE RIDLEY SCOTT'S ALIEN AESTHETICS"
It's a shitty game, filled with tedious, boring minigames.

>i hate game!
good thread
First 2/3 of the game is top tier, culminating in descent to the hive
They completely fucked up the rest of it though and the ending is abysmal.
It's literally just go from a to b and push bunch of buttons. Minigames that they use to pad out the already boring gameplay are so fucking easy and simple, they might as well just not be there.
You realise its a horror game right?
Except it's not scary one bit since the Alien only appears at scripted encounters and all you need to do to avoid it is hide in a closet for 5 minutes until it fucks off
I agree. I played this game cause of the hype and I thought it was gonna be a challenge on the hardest mode.
>>teleporting alien
Don't know why this bugged me but I just didn't like how lazy this was. Alien would go west then suddenly appear East in no time.
it's another "Gen Z finally plays a gen 7 game" thread
>being elitist about a 4 year old game
lol
Here's my shitty opinion:
No-one should expect anything more than a cat and mouse game where you're the mouse. It's tense being the hunted and has great atmosphere.
Like five years ago I would have agreed with you, but I gave it a shot just a few months ago and found it to be fun.
>go from a to b and push bunch of buttons
Yes, those are the objectives. The game itself however is playing around the decent AI hunting you.
>minigames
At first they added to the tensity of your situation. While you're doing these chores the Alien is stomping around and could send his tail through your chest at any second, but later in the game they started to appear too much in areas where the Alien is not even present. Could cut back but not a deal breaker for me.
>"LOOK IT HAS THE RIDLEY SCOTT'S ALIEN AESTHETICS"
I actually didn't even think that much about Alien at first. It was just "that one horror film" to me until I played this game and found appreciation for the film.
>hide in a closet for 5 minutes until it fucks off
You could do that... Or alternatively you could try to have fun and use the game mechanics to sneak past him while he's on the floor level with you. Also, play on hard mode.
Most fun I had with this game was when I moved fast.
You might even say there are multiple aliens
This game is all about atmosphere, immersion and the feeling of being hunted. If those are not your thing then I get it, but there's no need to bash a genre you don't like. Just don't play it.
It's not a super interactive game, so someone like you might not like it as much. But I think it's a "walking simulator" done right. Especially with VR mod.
I wouldn't pay more than $10 (and didn't), but for that price it's a decent experience.
>It's a shitty game, filled with tedious, boring minigames.
He didn't play on hard mode.
if only it was a walking simulator. it's a crouching simulator
you made a thread a couple of hours ago and got btfo, just stop.
>please talk about this game I hate
nice try, fag
game nailed the aesthetics and audio design of the good films but yeah the gameplay is fucking garbage barely above walking sim tier.
watch all the Sup Forumsedditors tell you that you didn't play it on nightmare with your hands tied behind your back and to "git gud" though.
Nightmare is unnecessarily shit because it removes map though.
Hard mode is optimal way difficulty for best experience.
>Do people really enjoy this boring walking simulator?
That's not a walking simulator. Stop using words you don't understand even the most basic fucking usage of.
All you do is walk around and open doors
nightmare is interesting because it's much more unpredictable but also more tedious and everything you do is a diceroll whether you'll get instantly killed or not.
It's just not fun and there is no skill to it, it's really a test of patience more than anything.
Are you using a mod that removes the xenomorph and enemies?
How is it in VR?
It does have great art, level and sound design.
The story is alright, and the amnesia style gameplay mechanics do work really well in this well constructed science fiction setting.
But being an Alien game, and utterly lacking actual quality combat definitely held it back somewhat, but not enough for me to not still thoroughly enjoy it.
It looses a bit of its edge after you die a dozen or so times, maybe if the implied danger and atmosphere was more intense with less actual in game deaths it would come off more intimidating overall.
But towards the end of the game, dying was more of an 'oh well' moment than a 'holy shit' moment.
I'm sure whatever they cook up next will be an innovative enough sequel to deserve and even shinier gold star.
all horror games are either walking simulators, jumpscare slideshows, puzzle games or all three combined
they're all shit
Major improvement.
VR is only worth it for Alien: Isolation and Subnautica at the moment.
