You guys ready for the best Disney/Final Fantasy vidya of the decade?
Did you like the combat in 0.2 or do you think it could be better?

TREASURE PLANET WHEN?
It's gonna be a hell of a ride to get a Treasure Planet world, but keep trusting in Nomura. All Disney movies are canon and exist within the KH universe.
Hang in there, user!
Kingdom Hearts is gay
>no Indiana Jones world

Is the combat slowly turning into a Musou? I realized something in the early gameplay trailers but I waited, just to see if it changed, but it did not.
Do you know when you are playing a Musou game (like the dynasty warriors gameplay) and you use a special move so a few-seconds-cutscene-with-cool-camera-angles plays where your character unleashes a big attack and puts away a lot of enemies? With the attraction flow and transformed keyblades special attacks shown on trailers, I've got the sames vibes. I mean, the micro-cutscene style it's certainly similar.
It's not a good change in my opinion. I'm kind of scared this game will be all flash and no substance.
Sounds like standard kingdom hearts gameplay then.
KH3 is gonna have a shitton of overpowered but cool mechanics and abilities but nobody is going to use them because spamming X works just fine. Just like KH2.
Every fucking thread
Now call me an Osaka dicksucker
Combat in 0.2 was good, but the bosses will make or break it. Only Phantom Aqua was really good. KHIII needs to take cues from II as opposed to BBS/3D when it comes to makig basic combos the core of the combat rather than flashy floaty commands.
KH2 was already like that, one of the big moments that they showed in early trailers was the 1000 heartless fight. Of course because it was on the PS2 they had to downgrade it to the point where you just fought a few dozen of the same two enemies types continuously.
KHII was at its best on Critical, where using all the magic and Drives and Summons and Limits was actually necessary and you couldn't just spam X to victory. Especially in the bonus dungeon and bosses.
No it wasn't. This can be clearly seen in kh2 moves like "magnet burst" used in kh3 trailers when Sora is using second form. There is a clear intention on making the move look more cinematic using a fixed camera angle when using the move and a longer more detailed animation compared to its kh2 version, which is cool to watch but makes the overall combat slower and less smooth since it kinda breaks the flow of combat.
This emphasis they're putting on making the battle more cinematic can also be noticed in the limit attack Sora did with Goofy in the Orchestra trailer where the UI disappears and the camera again goes in a fixed angle making the move a mini cutscene. Keyblade transformations aka KH3 drive forms also show how there is a clear intention on making the battles more cinematic since the camera spins around and zooms in on Sora's character model showing you the entire transformation in a mini cutscene.
That's not really true, your basic kit is still your best option even on Critical, your other moves are only selectively useful. Valor Form is a piece of shit on every difficulty. Limit Form is far and away the best because you still have Guard/Dodge.
KH3 will get to that once they release Final Mix a year from the release.
Except Summons and Limits always had mini-cutscenes.
It definitely seems to be going in that direction, though I can't say for certain. From what I've played of 0.2, it seems that Osaka team has given us some kind of hybrid between Kingdom Hearts 2 and Birth by Sleep. While I liked the addition to the movement controls and the mobile spell casting, I feel like ultimately we are getting Birth by Sleep again and that alone scares me. I still have nightmares from the day I spent grinding Mysterious Figure.
Funny enough, spamming X doesn't actually work that well against the Data Organization fights. Those fights required a bit of skill and could only be slightly cheesed at max level. Now if you're playing on Level 1 Critical, they could not be cheesed and I assure you the X button did nothing against any of them. Flare Force, however, was godly. Basically what said is correct.
>KHIII needs to take cues from II as opposed to BBS/3D
Why do I get the growing feeling that KH3 is only exclusively taking cues from BBS and DDD?
Like with every Osaka game, I might play it on critical, but there's never an incentive to learn the "deeper" aspects of their games, because their games have no depth whatsoever. And their Lv1 modes are complete garbage. In BbS it's spam shotlocks or infinite i-frame dodging, and maybe 3 or 4 unique command "families" like the surges, in a game with over fifty commands, singular or in families, bosses never stagger. In DDD you can just spam balloon spells. There's nothing to the games at any difficulty.
I don't want to make excuses but there's a slight chance that they made those cinematic camera angles for the trailers. like how they also dumb down the enemy AI and dmg output because the point is to just look cool for marketing purposes.
>You guys ready for the best Disney/Final Fantasy vidya of the decade?
For that to be true they'd have to actually make use of the fact it's a disney/final fantasy crossover and none of the games since 2 have done anything with either of those two aspects let alone integrating them together. The disney only really exists as filler between the story beats and the final fantasy characters don't exist at all.
The actual transformation times on summons and limits were not nearly as long as the attacks shown in the gameplay trailers for KH3. In fact, the time it takes to perform some of these special attacks rivals that of the unskippable summons in the original Kingdom Hearts.
>you will never be a drone who parrots autistic speedrunners
feels good
>Those fights required a bit of skill and could only be slightly cheesed at max level.
you just need to spec into pressing x with fenrir
>spamming x makes the game more fun
>why cant i beat the data org fights
>wtf lingering terra is way 2 hard
>better level up so i can press x some more
>you just need to spec into pressing x with fenrir
Is this some kind of arcane knowledge that I never knew about? Teach me more, user.
...
I don't know why you guys do this to yourselves. You've been hyping this game up for years and you know its never going to meet your expectations.
It's because most of us have been waiting for this game since we were kids. Imagine your inner child's dying wish. That's KH3 for me.
I'm a diehard KH fan, but I can't disagree with this. The difference between the depth of KHII Critical and BBS/DDD Critical is massive. At least BBS is fun.
Did you just assume my expectations?
My expectations are in the dirt, but my hype is through the roof.
There's no way this is actually coming out in 2018, right?
KH3 HAS NEVER BEEN DELAYED
>At least BBS is fun.
>BbS
>fun
You have to go back.
You cheese Terra with fenrir and some negative combo plusses.
No, for real. I know it's shallow, but I can grind for hours just because I get enjoyment out of the massive eye candy commands and cool anime shit like Chaos Blade and Faith. Replaying the FM version right now and really finding it (((fun))). Now 3D, that was a game I couldn't enjoy no matter how hard I tried, and try I did. Everything from the combat to the progression system to the story to the enemy design is a complete and utter trainwreck.
b-but that's abusing the finisher damage, user!
I'm pretty surprised to hear that actually. I just replayed the game on critical and did every extra boss the game could throw at me. Not only did my thumb hurt like crazy, but just about the only commands I used were surges. The pure fact that most of the secret bosses never stagger was so rage inducing.
You have the patience of a saint, user.
I've finished the first game and Soras route in com. Does fake Riku ever get mentioned again? Is that who Riku was talking about at the end of the song trailer for 3?
based indyposter
All right fuckers, out of the 197 Kingdom Hearts Games, which do I need to play to understand the story prior to the release of KH3?
>Does fake Riku ever get mentioned again?
Surprisingly no. It's picked up and dropped like a sack of potatoes and because of Sora's memory restoration, he doesn't even remember.
>Is that who Riku was talking about at the end of the song trailer for 3?
Possibly. The fact that he mentions is clone or "other self" is very curious seeing as he only had the one in CoM.
>Muso of keyblade wielders like Aladdin and Rapunzel doing anime sequences of slashing or pan based martial arts
Why doesn't Nomura fund this?
I'm pretty sure his "other self" is Tera.
1, CoM, 2, BBS and, sadly, DDD. Coded is entirely optional, Days is unnecessary but it has the best character writing in the series, and I refuse to acknowledge X's canonicity on principle.
Should Donald and Goofy have been removed as party members after com? They want to go full anime but those two dumbfuck are always there in the background
Everyone will give you a different incorrect answer.
The fact of the matter is that all the games have some important piece of information that will be relevant in some form or another, but you don't need to play them to know this.
If you want to be privy on the gist of the story, all you'll need is to play Birth by Sleep > Kingdom Hearts > Chain of Memories > Kingdom Hearts 2 > Dream Drop Distance
That's it. You'll know everything. The rest is fluff and retcons.
God I just want to cum all over Monster Sora's cute, smiling face
I think the other self is ansem riku.
Why in the world would Riku's other self be Terra?
Apart from Terra giving Riku the song and dance of one day being a keyblade wielder, what connection do they really have?
I really miss this movie. Definitely underrated.
A shame it gets lumped in with worse movies like Titan AE.
im playing through DDD for my first time on Proud right now, and i think im getting a bit bored of it
basic combat feels a little broken but fucking Balloons kills everything.
is this game really magic heavy compared to BBS?
im up to Pranksters Paradise finished with Sora and about to finish it with Riku, and i think the only thing keeping me engaged is when Xemnas, Ansem and young Xehanort show up every now and then.
The Grid felt a bit shitty, in all honesty, but Notre Dame was an awesome map.
sorry if it's all disjointed or wrong, i havent finished the game yet and im trying to figure out what i like about it
>playing BBS before KH1
dont do this
