Gothic 2 is action/rpg, some user posted a video here some times ago where player was able to kill orcs with a lvl1 hero.
How do I play this game properly guys? I picked it up a while ago on a sale but idk how to start. I’m playing solo btw.
>bioware
Read the manual. Get some followers. Have fun.
>strawman
Fighter/paladin/ranger is the easiest class to use. Spellcasters are more complex but better once you understand them. Get one thief for your party, but no more. Don't specialize in more than one melee weapon and ranged weapon, it's not really worth it. Just choose something like two-handed swords or longswords and dual wielding, but don't spread yourself thin.
its my favorite game of all time. no game since has managed to capture the feeling of an epic adventure as well as the BG saga.
Original edition or the enhanced edition for the first game?
On one hand, Neera seems fun. But on the other hand, you can't change the FPS lock so it's slow as fuck
there is no reason to play vanilla over EE aside from some obscure as fuck mods
Well the fact that the EE can't have it's frame rate edited kinda kills it for me with how slow it is.
I know the second one can but the first one can't for some reason
Honestly, EE. The new characters are ass, but it gives you the niceties added by BG2 like kits and more weapons and spells. Just don't play Siege of Dragonspear, the expansion they invented. It makes no sense and is terrible.
Rememeber that Imoen is the only pure one
*cockblocks your path*
EE was good until they fucked it up the ass with v2.0 tablet GUI, which wasn't even given as an option to revert for PC players.
v1.3 EE is compatible with all mods and remains true to the original spirit of the game e.g. no fucking tablet/touch screen bullshit and just overall shit design elements
This, what were they thinking?
I prefer the new UI.
RTWP IS FUCKING CANCER NO MATTER WHAT
you mean it's the patrician choice?
Unironically much better than that actual BG2 portraits. Why the fuck were they so glossy?
This statement is akin to holocaust denail
Pretty fucking funny since I also believe that.
If by patrician choice you mean brainlet cancer faggot then I do indeed.
In all seriousness though the European laws against this are hypocritical and retarded and only serve to rightly make people more skeptical of it. You don't fight authoritarianism by fucking over free speech.
Exactly.
You can't roleplay anyone other than the gothic guy in Gothic 2
tfw qt elf characters simply don't exist in wrpgs anymore
...
>Imoen Romance mod
I feel like playing through this again. I have a couple questions;
Is it worth getting both EE versions and doing an Enhanced Edition Trilogy playthrough, or should I just use my vanilla BGT mod I have installed? What would doing that actually add to the game over vanilla BGT? I don't care about new quests or content, I'm mostly interested in mechanical additions.
Is there an equivalent of Shadowkeeper for the enhanced edition? I usually edit party member classes to something else because I've played through the game with the default classes so much.
Thanks Sup Forums!
Neera is icredibly annoying, pretty much tumblr's idea what quirky character should be. lol so rundumb. Ignore the enhanced edition content, tonally it feels very out of place and all of the characters are trash.
EEkeeper. EE adds new items from the new quests. Kits added to BG1. Ranger/Cleric "bug" no longer working by default, it's in the config. More classes/kits from EE.
>doesn't play with the Imoen romance mod
She WAS pure till I put my brotherly baalspawn dick in her.
>imoen romance mod
>almost no walkthroughs exist
>no comprehensive list of available scenes
>never know if I've found all the shit or not
here's how you get a 100% playthrough with imoen:
1) import a capped character from BG1
2) be good at the game
3) immediately rescue her solo
4) pick up aerie immediately after that
5) optionally pick up viconia and jahiera for maximum harem
6) do every quest in the game
there is a lot of content that most people miss since they wait to rescue her
No I do this, or generally this. I only do the main quests and rush through Underdark so I get her in the party without ever doing the sidequests, villages, keeps, etc. And I do get quite a few scenes with her. But there are a few too many that are soft-core or fade to black and only a handful of sex scenarios I found. Most of her scenes seem to revolve around asking/talking to her in specific areas at specific times of day too, so that doesn't make it easier.
the old ghostbin that had the dialogue extracted is now password protected, so can't help you there
>immediately rescue her solo
Not immediately, you have to watch 3 or 4 dreams and if you don't rest you will miss it and probably break the questline.
I was surprised that it adds so much nice banter to the game even outside of the romance itself.
The romance itself is also of much higher quality than any other.
This, you don't need to super rush it, just focus only on doing main quests. You can still pick up viconia, wing-girl, jaheria, etc, and go with a full party to Underdark. The point is just to not do sidequests or side missions, and you won't need to cause you'll get that 40k easy with just the main shit.
What's the point of bringing your harem though? Jahera is the only one I've seen who even reacts to you fucking your sister, and it boils down to 'you guys are gross and go against nature'.
Is the D'Arnise Keep considered a mainline quest? I recall them giving you different money-making quest ideas to raise the cash for Bayle depending on your class. I think the Planar Sphere was the mage/sorcerer one, and the Mae'Var business for a thief.
imoen has dialogue for picking up everyone, despite you likely never having her in party for those events.
also, full harem makes for maximum banter if you have all the romances on
What the fuck do you think a strawman is.
Those are sidequests yeah. Honestly my go-to mods are the ones where you're given all the keeps (not just the one for your class), the Romantic Encounters mod and Imoen Romance mod. Fun shit, sewing baalspawn seeds across the land.
But would doing those to raise the money mess up the timing to go pick up Imoen with the romance mod on?
Why the fuck do you want to fight authoritarianism? The people should be guided, not let loose to roam free and come up with -- among other things -- lynching, rioting, antifa and holocaust denial. Centrists like you are the enemy of all polite nations.
Meh, I don't care about her brief dialogues for that, just her sexscenes. Are there threesomes or party orgies?
>instal imoen romance
>spend 20 hours just getting imoen and rushing
>finally get her, lose interest and never find more than a handful of scenes
Done this 3 fucking times now. I just wish there was a comprehensive list.
All companions have lines about your romance, that druid fellow for example don't see anything bad about it because he think it's natural and bhaalspawn is the separate specie.
I'd say to avoid it just in case. Most of the guides purely suggest just doing the main questline and flat out not touching anything else to maximize your fun with Imoen.
nice spoilers
But what IS the mainline quest at that point? Should I just wander around and look for random encounters for pick up gear and cash?
Raising funds one way or another.
The mainline quest is just the mainline quest. You go to see the thieves, you meet the vampires, they tell you to raise dosh, you get the companions and grab all the secret/rare loot from town to use/sell. Just doing that will easily net you near the 20-30k mark which is when Bodhi shows up and offers you a job, which makes the thieves give you a discount. If you HAVE to do some sidequests, just do the ones solely in town, rescuing slaves or some shit.
This, the fact even the author didn't specify how/where to find scenes or what they contained is just criminal. Leaves you constantly feeling like you're missing shit, especially when most of the scenes require YOU to initiate. It ain't fun to stop and talk to her ever single area, then do it again at night, just in case there's a scene needing to be triggered.
I want to play BG 1 + 2
What class?
i've downloaded bg:ee from steam, what should i know before jumping in? i'm unironically planning to use the wikia in order to not miss any sidecontent.
how long is a 100% run?
Have you played it before? If so, Wild Mage Wizard. Otherwise, early BG1 might kick your ass a bit, so go with Druid or Priest if you want more complex gameplay, Paladin if you don't.
woah...really updates your journal
Paladin is great in both games. You fight metric fucktons of undead so you're instantly OP as fuck against 25% of all enemies you face. And in BG2, the changes to armor/magic mean you shit on absolutely everyone while being an untouchable juggernaut.
and?
can i move my save from bg1 to the sjw expansion to bg2?
best weapon is also for paladins
>the people should br guided
by who? by you? are you also being guided? what happens when the authorities force something that you dont personally like? or is that just degeneracy?
...
thieves are useless, you only need one for obligatory thief dutes and you should probably dual class them with a mage
if you want the most out of the game you probably want to read up on what class the legendary weapons are so you can skill the appropriate specializations
THIS MOTHERFUCKER
By anyone, in fact. It doesn't even need to be an individual -- an institution will work quite well, as democracy has proven. You simply need to give people rules, and the brighter citizens will rebell against them in useful ways while the more placid citizens are kept out of the way of harmful thoughts.
Besides, authority is necessary to create a powerful state, and it's power that creates prosperity and security.
I guess I'll just wander around looking for hidden loot then. When did they raise the money amount you have to get? SCS? I've always used the Tactics mod before but I'm going to try Strategems this run through and I think I recall that being part of it.
Solo fighter/cleric.
>we need to have a polite society at all costs so no asking uncomfortable questions
Play whatever class you want. You don't have to immediately jump to the optimal ones. BG is meant to be played through multiple times with different classes, alignments, loadouts and companions.
i'd take an unsecure and free over secure slavery any day boi.
How are you supposed to play assassin in this game? You can only put one slot into any weapon, and stealth backstabs seem so useless when yiure in a party. Are you supposed to run away and re-stealth while your party fights so you can do another backstabs?
You are able to ask uncomfortable questions, but you are not allowed to. This ensures only the important questions get asked: remember, Marx and Dostoevsky both wrote their best works under heavy censorship.
Go to Somalia or Rojava, hypocrit.
Threadly reminder that Elf Fighter/Mage is the masterrace

The only role playing you do is where to position yourself in battle.
stop samefagging fag
Yes . Potions or items that give invisibility work as well. Thieves are pretty useless in battle beyond that and setting traps. That's why anyone will tell you to never have more than one in your group.
Explain yourself, slave.
reminder that Sup Forums has infiltrated Sup Forums with their shitty politics for years now. don't respond to Sup Forums posters.
you can do that in bg1 too
*nat 20s your path*
>Elf fucking shit not understanding his place
Human Kensai/Mage will always be superior.
You don’t
Thief is arguably the weakest of the 4 core classes simply because there are more than enough adequate thieves to choose from and a PC more so benefits the other classes more
Well, you could just do the old sell-item-to-merchant-then-steal-it-back-and-sell-it-again-switcheroo. You could roleplay it by selling the item only to different merchants.
>alignments
Ah yes, skipping every sidequest as an evil character because all quests involve helping people
*Power Word: Kills Yoi*
What now whiteboi
You can do quests for the rewards and do some evil twists in them.
Fighter/mage is always solid, you get blur+mirror image+stoneskin and sleep for BG1 and then at lategame you get time warp + greater whirlwind.
Power Word: Kill is literally shit.
*Time Stops behind you*
Psh, nothing peronsal, knife ear
you can in baldur's gate
Dual Class as a kensai 9 or 13/thief x.
Kensai gives you kensai perks, hp, proficiency, and thac0 and their restrictions are removed when you unlock thieves HLA later on. It also is not a drag to level back up like it is for mages since thieves level stupid quick so just save up a few quest completions in BG2 to speed through your downtime. Kai Backstabs shit on everything susceptible to them and make a lot of hard fights laughable. Kensai can use throwing daggers/axes for a ranged weapon if you need it.
>How are you supposed to play assassin in this game?
you don't
No, they should be engaged wherever found. Even if they obstinately stick to their malformed ideas of free speech and thoughtless conservatism, others who might otherwise have been swayed will see your example and follow you. Thus said Epictetus: "at an entertainment, don't talk how persons ought to eat, but eat as you ought".
and as drumpf said: "kys nigger"
not videogames, move your shitty arguments to Sup Forums
Here's a better, more applicable quote that doesn't actually mean the opposite of what I'm trying to say;
"Don't feed the trolls"
-Mark Twain
Should I play BG2 before I play either NWN?
That's like asking if you should play Doom before Duke 3D. BG2 and NWN have nothing to do with each other, apart from being AD&D.
>Pale Master Mod
>Sarodas Revised Shapeshifter
>Make Viconia Nightcloak of Shar
>When you've got top notch portraits prepped for gameplay
>Make Xzar Wiz/Cleric
You know what both Baldur's Gate games and moddable games in general absofuckinglutely need?
Evil corruption mods so you don't have to retain NPCs via alignment shit, just fucking make them evil/sexy as fuck over time
