I can't fucking stand all the inertia and staggering and delays in modern games, no amounts of frames can make them feel responsive.
ITT: oldfag complaints
I hate fucking tutorials, give me a manual to read before I start playing your shitty game.
A for profit healthcare system has taken away my ability to game.
>the period between starting the game up for the first time and actually getting to play is more than a minute
>being murrican
It's your own fault
>half the game is cut and resold separately as DLC
It's not gonna stop is it? I wanna go back
>You can choose where you are born.
Lol.
>Cover is just washed out bland picture of main character
Unironically this.
Wait for the industry to crash senpai
This, give me my endings actually in the game God damn it;also fuck on disc DLC so God damn much, holy shit, and Fuck lootboxes too, fuck you valve.
>forced tutorials
Has there ever been a game where adding "realistic" animations actually made it better and not just feel sluggish? No one likes watching their character stumble around in a 360 instead of just swivelling on the spot.
Lolno, of course not. I unironically blame FFVII for turning modern youngun gamers into graphix whores.
>trying to play a game with a mouse that has a turn rate cap (no matter how fast you move the mouse, the player character will turn at a constant speed like you held down the analogue stick)
I fucking hate the console generation.
>videogames these days don't come with a 50 page manual with controls, install instructions, artwork, tips sprinkled in the margins and 20 pages of lore
Fuck
Say no more
Nah, the model is already proved to be good. AAA solo player game studios will crash because they need big marketing budgets and tons of money for voice actors and mocap and guest artists, cheap cash grab gacha shit is here to stay forever until a better way to squeeze money out of children and morons is discovered.
Not gonna lie, I miss the ability to read a manual while taking a shit, even if it was just for a minute or two.
>be welcome to move to literally any country do to status as US citizen
>stay in US an complain about it
dude
I miss when it was obvious that games couldn't look "realistic," so nobody tried.
Everyone had to develop an art style or perish.
>Literally cant had to sell consoles and PC to pay for cancer treatment
>Lol just move user.
You do know you need money to do both.
Like im on a trip for work training and I had to make up some excuse to keep from having to go eat with them because I cant afford anything and I had to go back to eat a pack of pretzels I saved form the flight.
you mean like gothic 2?
>devs make “realistic environmental tracks” that is barely even able to be heard rather than actual music
the west needs to stop this at once.
>traveling by air
look at big money Rockefeller over here
Man. Sorry to hear that.
I'm pretty broke myself these days, and stressed out about it, but I don't got cancer and have to eat plane pretzels.
Hang in there man.
>Massive uberimmersive ginormous world-map-gameplay-regions
>Game is 85% walking
>Oh hay, a pony
>Ride the pony
>Game is now 45% walking+hyiahh!
After already playing it for several hours of course.
then stop fucking them
Manuals for PC games used to have all sorts of cool shit in there.
Lore building, artwork, diagrams of all the buildings/weapons/spells and their effects in detail.
It was totally great.
red dead and gtav arent bad in that regard
Job paid retard.
>generic slow orchestral music instead of catchy and memorable tracks
AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
I feel sorry for the kids growing up with these games
Oh, most definitely. I just didn't necessarily read them before playing, except for when I was a kid and my mom was driving, then yeah, I'd read the shit out of it on the ride home.
>having a job
bet you stay in the Ritz too, Bill Gates
yesyesYES
I love gigantic tutorials.
I stayed a couple weekends in a hilton hotel before. Not an upscale one, and the army paid for it, but it had the hilton name on it.
I still break out and flip through the Warcraft 2 manual from time to time
>game claims to be 90s throwback
>in development
>planned dlc before release
>patreons only demo
>linear maps
>no challenging gameplay
>TFW you job puts you up in a hotel that is bigger and nicer than your apartment.
And I am not even gay.
>living in a nation with an army
sure thing, Tsar Nicholas II
The job paid for your flight but not food? Not even reimbursement? That's sort of shitty but it's good you have a job, I guess
>tfw your job sends you out of state and offers a shitty trailer parked next to a graveyard
The god damn bathroom is so tiny if you shut the door while taking a shit your knees hit the door and you can't flush toilet paper so they expect you to live like Mexico and throw shit covered paper in a trash can that's located above you.
I got a praedium for food, I pocketed it because rent > food. Lucky the hotel has a full hot breakfast. Its the best I have ate in at least 2 months.
No like its fucking crazy. Two bedroom, A full kitchen, two walk in closets and a stand up shower.
>the game is free
>autists support the devs by buying rainbow sparkle skins
This is the golden age of gaming.
If you want to trade I will gladly take the room off your hands and you can appreciate your apartment more
the older I get the less patience I have to game discussion, especially cynical and jaded doomsaying about every single thing. It's the same damn arguments every time regardless of the game.
I miss when Sup Forums talked about video games instead of internet drama
buy some dry black beans. the absolute cheapest food with the best macros, and good micros and phytos
>Game claims to have choice
>No way to be evil
>No way to say no
>Parents buy you a new game
>Read the manual on the way home from the store
If you're first thought was that this describes the present tense instead of a memory of times past, you need to leave.
>Game has a sandbox combat section that lasts 4 minutes or so in between half an hour of exposition slow walk or empty open world traversing
Shit like Uncharted and The Last of Us have fucking potential to be good GAMES but they aren't fucking games. They're a story with tiny segments of gameplay every so often.
I went to the store today after class and bought some rice, and a half dozen eggs.
Ill live off Tomago-Kake-Gohan for the week.
I feel you. As I've gotten older I've become less jaded about games. Now I don't really care if people like games I don't like or if they hate games I like.
>it takes over a full second for Geralt to stumble around in W2 when you turn
Throws me off every fucking time.
Buy game
>Not enough GB to install game, please do something about that
>free up some space
>could not connect to [paid subscription service] please do something about that
>turn Wi-Fi on
>start game
>"la creatura, poor, or hamburgers"
>English language please
>this symbol in the corner means loads. No off when loads.
>CHECK OUT THIS NEW CONTENT. WEW SON THIS SHIT IS COOL
>loading
>Title screen
>start game
>loading
>choose file
>loading
>REMINDER OF NEW CONTENT WOAH!
>I am now playing but I am in the hub that I literally never need to be in and I need to go to this part where the gameplay actually is
>really long loading
>I am now playing game
>[disconnected please restart game]
>hear some of the younger folk talk about video games at work
>constantly mention various youtubers and twitch streamers
i hate this shit
I hate that games are all about stories now. The vast majority suck and would be better off as a movie a third of its length. Cutscenes used to just give context for the gameplay but now gameplay is just an excuse for a $60 pricetag.
Good cosmetics arent earned anymore, they are bought. Hell, unlockable content is hardly a thing anymore.
>no off when loads
I really wish cosmetics in multiplayer games were a reflection of skill and dedication, rather than luck or financial status.
I hope they are all dead. They started the shit and those Nvidia cunts continue their bullshit to this day.
>reboot of old game
>name is unchanged (so now you have to type the year in brackets next to it to differentiate them)
>looks good have to admit
>has one tenth of actual gameplay content though
>it's shitty babby handholding on rails bullshit
happens way too fucking often
for example?
>Most Wanted
>Doom
>Tomb Raider
>SimCity
>Thief
>Star Wars Battlefront
Triggers being used for your attacks, or alternatively face buttons being relegated to secondary functions.
>driving with analog sticks instead of an accelerate button
>It's a shooter
>Crosshair is slightly lower from the screen center
Fucking hate this. It gives me this feeling, as if I tilted my neck back, or as if I was playing while lying flat, and trying to lift my head, just to see what's happening on the screen. Had to drop nu-Prey because of this shit.
And don't even try to sell me bullshit like:
>it's dont because the weapon viewmodel is too big...
WELL THEN MAKE IT FUCKING SMALLER, GODDAMIT! IT'S NOT LIKE IT TAKES A LOT OF TIME AND RESOURCES TO GET IT DONE.
And yes, I'm fucking buttmad right now
Fuck you. Literally the game I blame for this shit
>game has DLC
>it literally isn't balanced in any way at all
>using/doing it too early breaks the game
>using/doing it too late is pointless because it's shit
I miss when 1.0 meant you're getting all the content planned for that version of the game, with separate expansions being the only after-release content.
How come in every Nintendo game and a lot of fighting games now there’s like a single frame pause every time s character hits another
>game gets new gen reimagining
>it has less content then the original game
i feel this way but about movement and walking in fucking modern open world games, like rockstar games or ubishit games
everything is overanimated for detail so when you press forward to take a step theres a start walking animation, a step, then a haulting animation and it's fucking annoying. everything feels so stilted and unresponsive in ubisoft games or rockstar games. RDR2 is going to fucking reek of it.
>It loses much of the charm and original funny moments as well
GTA4 was fucking awful with this shit. The cover system they had was non existant and it took 3 seconds to fully move in it. You couldnt even crouch and even switching sides was slow. They fixed most of it in RDR and 5 but theres still stupid shit like 5's "stealth" walk ad RDR's general movement
>Cuts interesting weapons or uses inferior variants
Fuck the sheepinator, morph-o-ray was always superior
it doesn't seem like an old person thing to complain about slow-to-animate player movement.
This shit infuriates me. I used to play old Mortal Kombat games pretty often then one day I try something recent and every attacks have that small pausewhen it connects, making the animations look akwards and breaking the nice flow of combos.
this is an ancient Japanese game thing. it is nothing new.
this, im sure it can be done but especially shooter games
Oh, you are in a firefight with 5 people? better reload this double barreled shotgun like im at the range having a beer, no hurrys here.
this shit pisses me off so much
i don't think this is particularly bad, it's implented so that the player character isn't a super-reflex inhuman death machine while being portrayed as an ordinary dude
the cover mechanic complaints especially pin on this, since being crouched low like that severely hinders your general mobility. it'd just look totally alien if chubby, clumsy Niko was flipping his body and weapon around in the blink of an eye to every input
It's one thing to be realistic but these games go too far. Like ok sure Niko isn't Bruce Lee but when you're getting shot at you don't crouch like a drunk uncle trying to mess with the propane bottle behind the barbecue with a beer in one hand.
THICC
>i don't think this is particularly bad, it's implented so that the player character isn't a super-reflex inhuman death machine while being portrayed as an ordinary dude
But it's clumsy and unresponsive as fuck. When I'm walking down the street in real life, I can stop or tun on a dime. You don't have to be a merc killing machine for you to be able to control you walking or crouching, we're not talking about flips or gymnastics here.
>no amounts of frames
What the fuck was oldfags problem?
but niko was a killing machine
that was like his only character trait, he was a killing machine soldier in his home country
Suddenly I feel like characters are that slow because that's how the fatass devs move so it seem fine to them.
People these days judge a game more by how accessible it is to them and not by if it's doing anything interesting
People complain about the strangest shit that I cannot comprehend, like bitching about the camera in a game that gives you complete control of the camera with the right stick. Like, this isn't JSR, if the camera isn't where you want it to be, just, like, fucking MOVE IT
This all even applies to Sup Forums. I don't feel like I identify with the people here anymore. People just hate shit for the DUMBEST fucking reasons that I cannot understand
[/rambling old man]
Holy SHIT I'm considering picking this up just for the manual now
You're the fag if you think Sup Forums hasn't been shitting on game for anything and everything since day 1.
As an oldfag, I kinda disagree with you
Depends on the game
Yeah sure people gonna shit on stuff, it's the lame-ass reasons that turn me off
the animations in rotoscoped old games were nice looking but awful to actually play
>Gajinworks
this is the only reason. They are literally Working Designs and if you're not old enough to know who they are then fuck off anyway.
Games have too many pixels now.
It used to be you could tell where jump on the enemies head by top row pixels, now theres just so many of them.
Honestly this. I know I'm way too old for this board anyway these days, and most people only do it to shitpost (wasting time bothers me too though), but the vast majority of anons on this site complain about the most invalid and mundane shit I could possibly think of. It's actually quite embarrassing stepping into at least 90% of threads on these boards because you literally know what you are walking into. Thankfully I've toned down the amount of time I spend here and only pop in once in awhile since at the very least Sup Forums usually updates on new information.
Nah I think it's fine, though
I honestly miss the feeling of just popping in a game and playing. No downloading, no updates, no installing, no whatever; just insert disc/cartridge in the system and ready to go. Thankfully, Switch pretty much does this and really appreciate the effort.
>Gajinworks
Can you imagine what it would be like to work at a place like this and actually have people to talk to about your weird niche Japanese games?
Like seriously, even if my group of weeb friends no one plays the shit I play
I miss cheat codes, what the fuck happened.
It's Tamago, weeb.
