Honestly I agree somewhat, although with the placing of FE13 and 14 somewhat more nebulously.
Sad that Echoes ended up being so controversial in the community, it's an amazing game with a good dub for once.

I'd argue that Awakening and Birthright are equal, and that Revelation and Echoes are about equal as well.

It’s hard to take the scene where Alto falls forever seriously when the game’s graphics make everyone look like a nendoroid.

I found Awakening to have the stronger emotional moments, but Echoes was overall a better game. So while Echoes had a better story overall and A+ delivery, Awakening's better quality CG really made the emotional moments more powerful.

You guys spend hundreds of dollars on a phone game to collect .jpgs of anime girls that you can get for free on the internet, I don't need to try to maintain a sense of superiority.

Any scene with Berküt in it was automatically great, but despite him being the best character to come out of FE in a long time, nothing in Echoes ever made me cry.

The map with Mustafa was just heart wrenching and really awesome in general, with the slow motion rain during battles and the best music.

The scene where Chrom apologized to Lucina and hugged her has made me cry 4 fucking times.

I like the card art in general. Never played the game, though. CCGs are bigger money traps than Feh. You can play Feh without spending a cent, but CCGs always require continued spending. If you want a good deck, you easily spend $200 if you don't have a card shop selling singles.

Valjean is good.

You could play Cipher online if you really wanted, but liking the art is enough for me.

Its slow but outside of Chapter 1 and 7 its not bad. Playing for ranks lets you have fun with money/item management to get everyone at the right levels and play fast. Once you learn how to warp efficiently its a lot more fun.

They weren't a glorious bastion of writing and characterization by any means, but they certainly were much better than anything post-GBA or even in the GBA games. Genealogy and Thracia in particular had excellent characters that really were that deep.

Everybody agrees Gaiden is shit, no argument from me there. As for FE1, I don't think anybody would argue the first game in the series released almost 30 years ago had deep writing, but its remake in FE3 with the same story and characters absolutely did have character depth.

Been replaying Echoes. There's something about this game that I like, but I don't know what it is. Everyone says muh maps are the most important aspect, and yet I have more fun playing this than Awakening and Fates.

He's not wrong. TMS is unironically better then FE as a whole.

I really love SoV. I love the designs, the voice acting, the tone and atmosphere, OST, even the characters despite being worse than their Gaiden counterparts, but I cannot give it a pass for the gameplay. Even Awakening is better in that regard.
