You're playing vidya on your platform of choice and the BAM, you're hit with a dead pixel
Tell me, Sup Forums, what do you do at this moment?

Shop around for a new monitor
Put my dick into it
Return my PSP to the store and get a new one.
kermit sewer side
My screen is already full of filth, this ain't stopping me
Play on a CRT
my screen has speks of dirt anyway, whats one more dot?
Do dead pixels just suddenly appear like that? I thought they were a manufacturing defect.
CRTs have pixels too idiot
>inb4 conan
Lol wut?
That's bullshit. You can't see the pixels on a screen their too small for the human eye.
Stuck/dead pixels can happen years after manufacturing. Stuck is fixable and dead usually isn't. Easier to fix with plastic screens vs glass.
They even happen on CRT's when the phosphorous dot setup is worn down. I have a few on a 1999 21 inch 1600x1200@85hz apple studio monitor.
But they can't get dead ones, dummy.
Learn how a CRT works in comparison to LCD, you might find out something new.
If it's a black or white dead pixel, I keep it. If it's green or red, I usually return it.
>See tv for 600 marked down from a thousand back in the day when flatscreens were new
>Ask what's wrong with it
>'It's got a dead pixel'
>lol okay whatever, 400 bucks off
>Get home
>Plug it in
>A single red pixel at the top of the screen
>Suckers
I have been staring at that fucking pixel for five years. I've missed entire works of art because I can't take my focus off of it. It's like a curse. Just throw it away.
Yes, they can.
Can you please post a picture of the studio monitor, just because im curious to see it.
My actual unit? It is in my server room at my home. I am at my vacation house now.
I... keep playing?
They look incredibly similar to when a plasma pixel went out. Like a slanted black line.
Similar to if you try and run a higher resolution than the monitor could handle and the aperture grille doesn't line up.
Why don't you just use a fine point marker and make it black?
Thanks anyway, enjoy yr vacation
Still not in the traditional sense of a dead pixel
Only can happen if the phosphor goes bad, and even then its still exceedingly rare, and not technically a dead pixel, unlike a dot matrix LCD.
Not notice it is there for several months and continue to play my games unabated until I eventually notice months down the line.
Say to myself "Well that sucks" and continue playing my games for several years until my monitor/TV/handheld platform of choice dies or is replaced with a new one.
You think this is some sort of earth shattering problem or something?
literally never happened
Return or exchange the display for one that isn't defective.
cycle radically different colours
turn it on and off again for extended periods of time and then repeatedly
physically tap it
ignore it until the monitor breaks
I mourned the loss of a friend.
Burn some incense, shed a single tear and move on. A monitor needs to have like 20 of those before I even consider throwing it away.
focus on one of the 3686400 other pixels instead
literally no
>buy new monitor
>get dead pixel 1-2 weeks later
>get buttmad and post a negative review
>days later the dead pixel disappears
Is that even possible?
They responded to your review.
I bought my first flatscreen TV in 2006. It had a single pixel stuck on green. It's only noticeable if I actively try to search for it and if I'm watching it from my sofa it literally can't be seen.
Scratch at it with my fingernail
No really, it works.
>the phosphor goes bad
The only way I can see that happening is failure of the beam deflector which collapses the image to burn a hole through the center of the screen.
I knew this gif would come in handy, eventually.
Everytime I see this I think its a zoomed thumbnail of the guy jumping from the world trade center
