Mortal Kombat has always been, and always will be... For millennia, the forces of good and evil have been locked in eternal battle over the control of Earthrealm. Some seek to use the tournament to destroy all that is good. Others seek vengeance, power, or eternal life. Time after time, each individual threat has been vanquished, and Earthrealm has enjoyed relative peace for many years. But there is concern that Earth is once again in peril. And this time, the threat of evil has two faces.

It is now known that the sorcerer Quan Chi has escaped from the Netherealm.Since his escape, Quan Chi has unlocked the secret of the ancient Rune Stone, discovered the ancient undefeatable army of the long forgotten Dragon King, ... and most disturbing of all, formed an alliance with one of our deadliest enemies...Shang Tsung. With their combined strength, they plotted to overpower the only two beings who could prevent their total domination of our two realms. The first was the Emperor of Outworld, Shao Kahn. In a false show of allegiance to Shao Kahn, they sprung their attack... They then travled to Earthrealm by way of a mystical portal known only to sorcerers and deities. There they confronted Earth's mightiest warrior and Champion of Mortal Kombat, Liu Kang."It has been Shang Tsung's greatest desire to consume the soul of Earthrealm's greatest warrior."
With Quan Chi's assistance, he achieved this goal... Liu Kang is dead.

Looking back on it, MK4 wasn't so bad.

it was fast and smooth, and only other mortal kombat games were better options for n64 only plebs like me. MK4 is underrated. the sounds were great too.

> and only other mortal kombat games were better options for n64 only plebs like me

What?

adding that every good concept or character from that waste of potential MK mythologies was in this game (quan chi and fujin) which kind of salvaged that shit experience of disappointing scrub zero spinoff trash. it could have been a good game if they tried...

meant to specify for fighting genre specifically, forgot to include it

MK4 was on the N64, and user is saying he only had an N64.

Considering Street Fighter got a collection for it's 30th anniversary, why haven't we gotten a Mortal Kombat collection. Why wouldn't Warner Bro's want to cash in on this?
>MK 1
>MK 2
>MK Trilogy
>MK 4
>MK Deadly Alliance
>MK Deception
>MK Armageddon
>Shaolin Monks
I would love to play some of these games online with GGPO.

I was asking what the sentence was saying, feels like it's garbled.

Is he saying MK4 was for plebs, or was he saying the other MK games on N64 were for plebs? I can't read what he's saying.

There was the Arcade Kollection that had 1, 2, and 3 for XBLA.

I also think it's on GOG. It got removed from STEAM though.

>There was the Arcade Kollection that had 1, 2, and 3 for XBLA.
A good step in the right direction, but why did they never continue that path? AK came out in 2011 for last-gen, so why not followup with this gen? I would actually appreciate a money-grubbing scheme to rerelease the first nine MK's with online functionality.

Because 3D games are a lot larger than sprite-based fighting games.

it had the best sounds

Still small by modern standards, the 3D entries were around 1 GB, and I don't think the cumulative 6GB would be a big deal. Those games operated off much lower system specs than most have today, so it doesn't seem that space or performance would be an issue.

Ed boon never looks back on old games.

>says this as deadly alliance exist

Approximate download sizes that may be used as proxies:
MK1,2,Trilogy,4 combined - 0.5GB
MKDA - 1GB
MKD - 2GB
MKA - 2GB
MKSM - 2GB
Mortal Kombat Komp - 7.5+ GB
Min CPU: Dual Core, 1.0 GHz
Min RAM: 256 MB
Min Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 6800 Ultra+

Haaaa haaaa......

LET'S FIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGHT

Every game has their strengths and weaknesses

The only truly wretched game is Mortal Kombat 8

But Ed Boon doesn't make these decisions. Warner Bro's got another team to make Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection for instance, they could do the same, without needing Boon to work on it.

Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance is my favorite Mortal Kombat. Thought it had the most technical fighting too.

>Empty krypt coffin flashbacks
Hell no

>He didn't look up the coffin guide online

Who here is ready for Mortal Kombat 11? It's almost 90% confirmed at this point.

If it isn't mk11, it's the horror slasher fighting game Boon always talked about. Considering they got Freddy, Jason, Leather Face, alien and predator in their last few games, I think it's a genuine possibility

IT WAS NOT BY CHANCE

Because they were embarrassed by the entirety of the 3D era, regardless if there was a cult following (like us)
