Has trolling evolved?
The Inverted Hugbox
>if you're not "toxic" you're still gonna make people anxious
The only winning move is not to play
>only winng move is to not play overwatch
I'm okay with that
fucking assholes should be banned for being nice
That's weird. Nathan Grayson didn't get anxiety when he slept with Zoe Quinn in exchange for positive reviews and fame on her shitty Depression Quest game.
If the trolls have actually started using overly positive language with players who are doing badly, I can only congratulate them.
How the fuck does Nathan Grayson still have a job??
Thank god i was born just in time to wintess greatest bantz in cs 1.5
>"killing them with kindness" becomes a popular tactic
>people can't complain since they're not being >toxic
>start to care less about rudeness, not advocating for it since that will paint them as the hypocrites they are
>hugboxes go away
>we return to 90s PC gaming
I really really hope this happens.
I feel justified for playing this games in silence and never speaking to anyone at all.
>kotaku
is he afraid they are being sarcastic? Holy shit he brings being a pussy to whole new level
>I feel justified for playing this game
>be mean
>kotacuck "journo" complains
>be nice
>kotacuck "journo" complains
>don't say anything
>kotacuck "journo" complains
Fuck
Kotaku
First thing I did after buying Overwatch was disable chat
Or just don't talk to people unless it's relevant to the game. I don't understand why this generation can't keep their emotions in check and has to constantly sperg out at each other. Typing "kys niggerfaggot" 50 times isn't offensive to 95% of players it's just fucking annoying, especially because if you trigger one of those 5% sensitive bitches then we have an endless game of shitflinging. No one wants to willingly interact with middle schoolers.
Come the fuck on, do you seriously believe that there was some kind of shady "sex for reviews" deal going on?
I have no doubt that they fucked, but rather than it being some exchance, it was just a case of these idiots going to same parties and not thinking that it might bad idea to fuck people who you're supposed to have professional relationship with. These people are not scheming masterminds, they are just dumbasses.
New wave of trolling is being sarcastic. I always say good job team, when we get btfo.
How would you know, though?
I noticed this has been happening ever since the bans for
>ggez
People are instead writing things like "Thanks for playing with me everyone! I have severe anxiety and I am glad to be a part of this match!" or "Thanks for the game before I have to go to bed! Oops! My mom is coming. Gotta go!" and other "nice" things but it's pretty obvious that this is how ggez will be transformed. And now, Blizzard can't do shit about it because it's nice comments. I love creativity of these people.
This is great. Post ironic shit talking
>>is he afraid they are being sarcastic?
Great point user. Boy you are observant. Here at non toxic Sup Forums we're quick to point out when intelligent people like you clarify obvious statements.
>try and ruin people's lives if they say the 'wrong' thing
>people are now handing out artificial praise so they don't get in trouble
I remember when I used to be like this. So cute
>cucktaku
Why didn't Hogan take them all down bros?
Great post buddy, I like the meme you used! Keep up the awesome work!
Imagine surrendering yourself to ridiculousness just so you have wacky headlines to write for your fake journalism job
He's not wrong. If you spend your time in a hugbox where no negativity is allowed, then people being nice are taken for granted, because nobody knows any different. In order to appreciate positive things, you have to experience negative things, otherwise you grow up with several mental illnesses.
I've been doing this shit for years. I hope it catches on more and becomes widespread in every game.
Huzzah! Spread the positive vibes comrades!
ggez is not nice tho
>do you seriously believe that there was some kind of shady "sex for reviews" deal going on?
Too much for one man brother, Macho man tapped out too soon.
>nathan grayson
>Kotaku
>Overwatch
just ignore them nigga
[s4s] is over there
>Grill let's me diddle her.
>She won't shut the fuck up about her shitty "project"
>Said it's good for repeat diddles
user please apply yourself
The manipulative weaponized-guilt gaymergait finger pointing in lieu of owning up to being dumbasses was pretty despicable
That's the point. Being overly nice that it bleeds into sarcasm is the new ggez. And Blizzard can't touch you for it.
Guess that makes me GM rank since season 3
>I've been doing this shit for years. I hope it catches on more and becomes widespread in every game.
I'm just laughing to myself trying to see the nanny state response to overly "aggressive" positive comments.
BANNED: INSINCERE COMPLIMENT
We're full on into stare-rape territory.
Lmao
gg used to be nice
Soon all words will be banned and that's a good thing
yup, everytime i say gg
it wasnt
its really a bg
>The only winning move is not to play overwatch
That's what Sup Forums have been telling you faggots all the time.
>get btfo
>gg ez
Like I said, these people are too stupid for that. Remember when one of those Kotaku journalists was accused of being in relationship with person whose game they were covering? Nope, turns out the reason they had same address was that she was renting a room from the person, and living in the same house. Apparently that's all cool.
You don't understand how much of idiots these people are.
Are you sure this isn't a parody article?
how do you know he didnt
why is overwatch such a girly drama game?
If scheming and haplessly bumbling end up in the same end point, there really is no difference.
>ggez is not nice tho
I made this image of you, isn't that nice?
>le you need the bad to know the good meme
wrong, the existence of repulsive foods doesn't allow good food to exist, good food can exist without bad food and we would still experience it as good
for example, I can enjoy a blueberry cheesecake without having to remind myself "wow, this is so much better than _shit food_"
fag
>"journalist" spouts controversial opinion to get clicks
What a fucking surprise. Now that being PC is the norm everyone knows how the story will end. So you say the exact opposite and people start talking about you again.
There's also the chance that he's socially unaware and doesn't know that people use sarcasm to get around the "toxicity" report system thing.
Maybe you just need to grow up into an adult, then.
If I eat my favourite food for two consecutive days, then I'm going to be sick of it. Can you eat blueberry cheesecake all day every day? I sincerely doubt it.
Lol this.
That's an auto-filter.
I got triggered once because people didn't talk to me in Dota 2. After I have destroyed my items, they have started talking, though.
Hmm, I wonder why those people are being nice, is it because Blizzard is poised to smack them with a ban hammer for breathing the wrong way?
>be mean, be called toxic
>now be nice and get called toxic as well
Eventually text and voice chat will be removed and it will actually be against US fucking law to discuss this game in a way that evokes any opinion or emotion that could be potentially construed as offensive.
What will you anons do when that day comes?
>when you cry about toxicity so much you force the entire playerbase into stepford smilers and then complain that everyone's acting too nice to you
I'm glad I just muted everybody and play Mystery Heroes exclusively when I get the overwatch itch.
>he can't eat cheesecake everyday
pleb
you're right, if I shot heroin at the age of 6 it'd do nothing unless I've been kicked in the balls before; need the bad to know the good, right?
you 'getting sick' of something doesn't come into what we're talking about
>spam nice voicelines
>say gj when mistakes are made
>never been banned
>they lose their shit
Literally all you have to do is not call them a nigger faggot and it's all good
Stupid analogy because everyone can get sick of a certain type of food if they eat it too much. Also, like eating too much cheesecake, a constant diet of praise can make your ego too big for its own britches.
You sure showed them, big fat baby boy.
I disagree. First is knowing that something is wrong but still opting to do it, second one is not knowing that something is not acceptable. Maybe if you told person who doesn't know better they'd not do it.
I dunno, I want to have faith in people.
>Overwatch tries its hardest to suck out all "toxicity" in the game
>The Overwatch community is considered fucking beyond garbage
Only Kotaku employs the finest of soyboys like Nathan Grayson
Well he's clearly into toxic women, have you seen the state of her
>"Nice shot!"
>"What a save!"
Rocket League did it first
>FOOD ANALOGY
The only winning move is to nuke this planet from the orbit, too many fucking idiots and cry babies, that's why we're never going to reach the stars.
I think someone that's clearly autistic and can't show any emotion nor understand them shouldn't call someone else a sperg.
I hope so. Overly sensitive faggots that have to apply hyperbole to bantz in order to not make themselves look like the pathetic twats they are need to realize that trolling will never go away.
>fucking beyond garbage
great porn title
>male
>writing an article "... gives me anxiety"
jesus christ these truly are the end times.
>I got muted on Overwatch because I caleld someone a nigger oh no my life is ovvvver
>This actually happened to me recently. During one match, I kept getting owned in Pharah duels by a member of the other team. Their aim and timing was preposterous, so I typed “Hey [other Pharah’s handle], how are you so good at aiming in Pharah vs. Pharah battles?” into match chat. Five seconds passed. Then ten. Then twenty. No response. Finally, somebody else on the other team just said “lol.”
>I’m not entirely sure why that moment was so embarrassing for me, but it was. I still think about it and wonder what I could have done differently sometimes.
Is this guy autistic?
Every time I think we've hit the logical conclusion of the toxicity strawman, someone pushes it even further. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.
SJWs are always resentful though
...
I'm saying that you're going to enjoy good food regardless of if you've experienced bad food
if you shot heroin for the first time in your life without ever feeling pain you will feel bliss, you don't need to compare it or 'know the bad' to know how it feels, it's biologically going to make you feel good
like if you hurt a baby, it won't need to have felt happiness or pleasure to experience pain, they're not mutually exclusive feelings
>don't talk to teammates
>get banned for refusing to communicate
This is the most 7th grade post i have seen all day.
>Is this guy autistic?
generations of men raised by women
>end times
Nah. To quote an old Russian proverb:
>Hard times create strong men
>Strong men create good times
>Good times create weak men
--You are here--
>Weak men create hard times
Reminds me of From Beyond if anything.
I miss community servers. You had to be on pretty decent behavior and get a feel for how everyone else was. And then, you know, you get to know regulars. They weren't just 420noscopeblazeit, they were Frank or Phil to you. Way back in the golden age of TF2 before we hit the 2010s, I'd log on, "hey user, just got off work?" We'd played together so often we actually knew each other's schedule. And we were comfortable enough with each other to banter and joke and insult and knew when we were going too far or pushing too much.
But beyond that, I think the other half of why multiplayer communities are so terrible now is because of matchmaking and persistent statistics. I'd log onto TF2, and maybe I'd play seriously, or just build an engy nest in 2fort and rack up sentry kills and heals while doing some reading or watching a show. Because nobody gave a shit about what was happening after the match was over. It was ephemeral. Or even beyond that, in CS:S and CS 1.6, same thing.
But now, you need to keep your MMR up, you need to ascend from magnesium into bismuth tier or whatever. Games are now a second job that inject dopamine with a little experience bar or a number that goes up every so often.
>go to the library
>theres a small recommended books section hand picked by the staff
>it's a zoe quinn book recommended by erica
had a small laugh
Things are so-so now but a few decades down the line things are gonna get real ugly. There will be a collapse at some point too, which we may or may not be alive to see. We are in Rome.
Ignorance is no defense you idiot. How can you be in a field that has one single overriding characteristic (integrity) and not think those shameful actions run counter to it?
Having faith in people is fine, but when an individual person shows such a blatant misunderstanding of their job and what it entails, that individual person has withered faith on their own. It doesn't reflect poorly on you if you want to have faith in people, and individual people let you down.
Welcome to the real world where distinction is a thing. Distinction in all things user. I am not taking this stance because liberally who or grayson are shit people. I am taking this stance because you really can't live to the age they have, taken the professions they have, and not understand what they are or stand for and still think these people are "good people."
They aren't good people. Others might be, put your faith in them and know when you've misplaced your faith into something unworthy of it.
You lessen your own value of faith in people by holding it as a value, then putting it into people that have demonstrably shown they don't deserve it.
...
>one single dude's opinion is the opinion of all butthurt Overwatch babies
shit thread, OP.
Nice shot! Nice shot! Nice shot! Nice shot! Nice shot!
i want to cuck him and read his blogposts afterwards about how hurt he is
The article is about social anxiety in online games. A positive player brings a social dynamic to an online game that Grayson can't seem to navigate without spilling his spaghetti and that makes him sad and angry. Kind of silly and was probably written from a place of "well I need to write SOMETHING".
There were no reviews the time Sup Forums was talking about what had happened and what they were mad about. Not only did they not focus on the journalist, they ignored him so hard they didn't bother to try to read what he had supposedly done.
>one single user's opinion is the opinion of all anons in that thread
Shit opinion, user.
>I like girl
>We start having sex
>She mentions that she really likes dark chocolate
>Next time I see her, I give her some fucking dark chocolate
It's not complicated. Do I think she literally whored herself out to me for dark chocolate? No, but I did get it for her PURELY because we were fucking. Do I think Zoe whored herself out to this guy for a review? No. But I do think the only reason she got a review is because she was fucking him, full-stop. That's just so obviously a fact that it's unreal, and it is a conflict of interest.
