What is the next big sub-genre in gaming?

Gay visual novels.

something that requires you to have friends no doubt if we're going by trends.

You forgot about zombie survival.

>fps
>sub-genre

what in the actual fuck did this literal retard mean by this?

FPS that surrounds on team work, Overwatch, CSGO, etc

There's a damn arena being built here in san francisco for that shit.

18+ to post here, sweetie

Correction:

>Late 2000s
Console FPS

People born after 9/11 are having sex daily.

>1999 was 431 years ago

I hope nothing, video games should just fucking die already.

FPS MOBAs

MMOs again but with optional VR

can i get a cx (you)?

The next game developed by Riot. League is the biggest game in the world, even if people don't play it they've heard of it. Whatever they release now the entire playerbase will know about it and however many millions of players there are will automatically be players in that game, then people will try to make clones of it.

BR MOBAS on first person.

>night trap
>1992
>literally dozens of fps games before that

not even a good troll

Gigantic, Smite, OW, Paragon all failed to become relevant. Smite had a bit of success but still a fraction of the relevance of League.

You mean like how they bought the rights to rising legends just to shut it down? Yeah, real competent. The best fighting game and it was taken from us so it wouldn’t kill their player base. It’s fucking stupid.

Daddy gave you good advice

Lol, you serious bro? Fighting games are niche garbage with no playerbase. DBFZ has like what, 2k online players max now? Yeah Riot's shaking in their boots.

Ever think maybe they just bought them because they wanted the talent? That seems a bit more realistic.

i miss the adderall ice

i dont understand the difference between a "battle royale" and a free for all mode

Then why did riot buy it just to cancel it at the same exact time?

Battle royal is rng based while free for all is all skill baby

Not him but the "talent" they wanted included Seth Killian, who's main thing is fighters. There's also that random pic of ASW staff visiting Riot. It's clear they're making a fighting game but for some reason it's yet to be officially confirmed.

Early to mid 2010s had open worlds as well.

I don't think that chronology actually exists. Fps games were shit out constantly and were popular from the early 90s on. Mmos were shit out constantly from the late 90s on. The fps genre might have lost some momentum in the early 2010s but I'd say Overwatch and battle royale games are just the return of the genre to great popularity. Furthermore, the rts genre slowly died through the 2000s and mobas are just a variant of rts people actually want to play. I'm not buying this mmo -> moba -> battle royale -> X narrative.

Also if I did know the answer I wouldn't tell you fuckers. I'd get rich off the next trend myself.

I miss when fighting games were the big genre.

The Battle Royale thing started with DayZ but then died out until PUBG

I wish fighters had died instead of best em ups. Fighters have no place outside arcades.

Where do the pseudo MMO loot shooters fit in?

cardboard

>people born in 2000 are now 18

i hope you're baiting because a grand total of like 500 people were playing Rising Thunder
to develop a simple fighting game for them instead, is it really that hard to piece together?

It’s been quite a few years with no word. If you believe riot is really going to make a fighting game then you must be waiting for half life 3 too.

they talked about it 2 months ago when they re-released RT

Nothing fucking happened in the 2010s

Retard.
