I'm trying so hard to get into this game. Its level design is excellent, puzzles are doable, tank controls and camera work, but the combat and inventory management is so unbelievably unenjoyable. I know you're supposed to try and run past everything you can to save bullets and running back and forth swapping out your inventory creates """tension""" but it's just not fun. At all. Sometimes you gotta tank hits if you wanna run past and the amount of backtracking basically forces you to kill some things with that awful combat that still ends up you getting hit (mostly by the green monsters or fucking dogs). Am I playing it wrong? I don't fucking know. I want to love the game so much but I just don't have fun...
Are RE2 and 3 any better with this or is it more the same? Is REmake any better or does it have these same problems?
Tyler Gomez
The first game is rough. Play REmake for sure, but 2 and 3 are both excellent games that still hold up.
John Myers
I never really ran past anything when I first played it
I just knifed most non threats and played keep away with bullets if there were more than 2 enemies, saving the heavier weapons for hunters etc
RE2 is GOAT though, play that instead, but play every version of the story too that's where it's at it's best
Bentley Morales
Glad you like it but you sound like you're just shit.
Chase Long
>but the combat and inventory management is so unbelievably unenjoyable. Nah, you're clearly ADHD fag who's only ever played Xbox-era 3rd person shooters with stealth elements.
>it's not fun Believe me, I played my very first RE game, in this case REmake, for the first time in 2015, and had fucking BLAST just because I actually HAD to plan my actions, routes, equipment, etc, before hand. I did play OG RE1 and 2-3 soon afterwards too, and again had no problems.
You can LITERALLY kill every enemy in these games, if you just play things smart. Does not mean you NEED to do it, or that you could spam shots all around for fun.
>green monsters Hunters you 1-shot with strongest weapons you got, and move on. >or fucking dogs How the fuck can you have problems with DOGS?? They can be stunlocked with fucking pistol!
Thomas Martin
>Is REmake any better or does it have these same problems? Nope, it's pretty much the same. But REmake is the objectively better game. I'd drop the original and try that instead, then decide if it's something you want to continue playing.
Colton Reyes
Jesus fuck son! You seriously suck. I played RE1 originally when it fucking came out, at the age of 9, and I sure as hell did not have any problems with it. Hell, I ain't even a native English speaker, so there was that extra bit of challenge as well.
>Are RE2 and 3 any better with this or is it more the same? They're the same, and MORE action-y. >Is REmake any better or does it have these same problems? What "problems"?? You need to realize that (You) are the problem!
Colton Brooks
>RE2 is GOAT though, play that instead faggot detected. RE1 / REmake = the pinnacle of the sereis and survival horror.
Mason Torres
>putting REmake alongside RE1 people in faggot houses should be careful about throwing fags
Juan Collins
REmake is literally RE1, but greatly improved in every way.
Jace Flores
the aesthetic, the tone, the cheesy voice acting gone...
Parker Thompson
All for the vastly superior experience.
Christopher Baker
>it's another episode of "anons who think REmake is the better experience in every way"
Jordan Evans
It literally is superior in every single way. Bigger, prettier, smoother, SCARIER, and clicks with its sequels way better.
Ethan Howard
get out normie Theres more than enough ammo around to kill every single enemy, including optional ones, in all classic RE titles. You just have to git gud
Dominic Cook
>its another episode of "REmake invalidates re1 so theres no reason to play it anymore" Normalfag purge when
Jaxon Lopez
wrong this guy gets it
Juan Ramirez
stop it. REmake is a 10/10 game and probably the best survival horror game of all time but it should only be played after CVX It does not in any way mean that playing re1 is somehow "optional" now, its absolutely mandatory to play along with its sequels Im tired of this fucking bullshit by nufans like you that say "skip re1", truly the mark of a fucking retard
Liam Kelly
>Sometimes you gotta tank hits if you wanna run past then shoot em dead
James Hernandez
>wrong How exactly?
>It does not in any way mean that playing re1 is somehow "optional" now, Did I even once imply that?
>nufag I dare to bet I've not only played RE games longer than thou, but also lurked and posted on this shitty site years before you even found out about it.
Ian Phillips
I mean you can immediately disprove it being better in every single way by pointing out 2 things
it doesn't feel like I'm playing underwater with how fucking sluggish animations are, and the dialogue isn't anywhere near as funny
Hudson Barnes
>it doesn't feel like I'm playing underwater with how fucking sluggish animations are So worse controls and/or animations equal "Better" now? This the opposite day?
>dialogue isn't anywhere near as funny why should things be "funny" in a horror game? Not to mention REmake throws jabs at the old jokes all the time, without sounding like the first English essay of a Japanese 9 year-old.
Robert Flores
it seems I phrased that wrong what I meant to say was REmake plays so artificially slow and it's frustrating
Xavier Clark
Anyone who says to "skip RE1, just play REmake" is a massive faggot. They have different things going for them but both games are excellent. Pick which ever one you want to play then play the other one. The classic RE games are all fantastic. Leave the infighting to the post-RE4 squares.
Josiah Ramirez
>what I meant to say was REmake plays so artificially slow and it's frustrating Are you referring to the original GC version, and its PAL version's 50hz mode by any means? Because HD / 60hz mode is as fast, if not even quicker than the PS1 original.
Alexander Ward
REmake's gameplay is nowhere near as fast as RE1's gameplay, it's like playing at 70% speed
Kayden Peterson
No idea where you've got such notion, as many things are not only faster, but enemies can pop out in larger numbers, hit harder in various ways, etc.
Luis Howard
Sounds like you chose Chris on advanced
Owen Gomez
Resident Evil 1's mansion feels like a real place in terms of its look, all the rooms are plain and foreboding. REmake looked great in that first GameCube trailer, but playing the whole game like it feels like you're walking round a movie set with queued thunder alongside the lightning.
William Rivera
>Resident Evil 1's mansion feels like a real place in terms of its look no, it really does not. Its uncanny emptiness and cleaniness practically make it "scarier" in a way, but REmake's mansion looks like an actual old manor of 1800s.
