Who is the George Lucas of video games
Who is the George Lucas of video games
Depending on how further Metal Gear games and DS turn out, probably Kojimbles.
Today Howard?
tim schafer
Kojima
>makes a decent trilogy
>then proceeds to make nothing but shit
Kojima Hideo.
Masahiro Sakurai
You mean the actual film director George Lucas or the internet meme George Lucas that has fuck all to do with the real person?
It's Kojima
gay ben
that is easily kojima
Cliffy obviously
its not kojima
This is the correct answer
Peter Molyneux
Miyamoto. Gets lucky his early works are so popular and then just lets other people make the series' games.
Todd Howard
George Lucas
Lucas didn't really have all that much involvement with the games
everyone above this post is braindead
...
Kojima,
>Makes a great, classic Trifecta of games that are influential and everybody loves them
>Has One series that is pretty closely connected to and associated with the more popular one
>Has some other things that while good, never got mainstream appeal
>Made some other parts of his biggest franchise that are very love it or hate it, and in these projects generally got more overall control.
>Twin Snakes is basically the Special Editions
>Has his Franchise taken over by a large company whose dragging it down really far.
Pretty sure it's still George Lucas
/thread
Is that you, George?
Hard to say. Pre-buyout Lucas or post-buyout?
at george worked on a fucking schedule and always kept pumping out stuff
Kojima doesn´t even seem to be interested in making games 90% of the time
Used to make good games. Now he has too much creative freedom and only creates junk.
I rest my case.
I interpreted the question as "who has a similar reputation in the video game industry as George Lucas has in the film industry?" so I didn't think this would fit.
>it's what I want it to be, not what you want it to be
you're right
>OG Gold Guy
Half of my best childhood/teen vidya memories begin with that logo
They had some seriously good fucking games man
>created something good once completely by accident and then spent the rest of his career not understanding how he did it the first time
Todd Howard.
Kevin Levine
>ctrl+F
>David Cage
>nothing
Kojima, biggest hack fraud in the biz
We make fun of it be Infinite wasn't that bad
David Cage hasn't made good games ever.
Kojima
>David Cage
>ever good
There's no difference.
Even with the first Star Wars, he had help from Francis Ford Coppola writing the opening crawl because he had no idea what he was doing.
I love Star Wars and I love George but he's a glorified ideas man.
Miyamoto and Nintendo
Which is why Kojima is the George Lucas of video games, considering 1, 2 and 3 were actually primarily written by Tomokazu Fukushima and carried the whole fucking script while Kojima jerked off about movies.
Toshihiro Kondo
Someone whose work was widely regarded as great when he had editors/suits who could tell him "no" but then immediately went to shit when he had the freedom to do whatever he wanted?
Tim Schafer probably counts here. Inafune may count but his decline arguably started before he went independent.
Inafune would have to have actually created something to count. he didn't make Megaman
ur mom LOL
People thought he made good stuff and then he turned out to be a hack who had other people do the actually good parts that he ended up taking credit for.
Sounds like Jorge to me.
I always wondered why George started a game company and it didn't have anything to do with Star Wars for like 20 years
the chad bullfrog vs the virgin lionhead
He hasn't gone back and ruined his previous work, though.
>t. gets all his star wars lore from wikipedia
lucas made the shit star wars movies, so for kojima to be the george lucas of vidya, he would have to make more metal gear, and run it into the ground before selling it to EA.
was thinking this
tpbp
You've got to make a trilogy before you can be George Lucas.
...
I'M SO FUCKING SORRY GEORGE
I ACTUALLY LOVE EPISODE 1
PLEASE BUY IT BACK AND SAVE US FROM THE MOUSE
>He hasn't gone back and ruined his previous work
>What is Day of the Tentacle Remastered
What is wrong with DotT? I only played Grim Fandango remastered and it was fine, which I only bought despite still owning the original because the original won't fucking run.
Nothing is wrong with it. The different visuals flared up his autism.
Nothing besides looking like a 2001 Flash game
It's like playing an old video game with filters. To their credit, you can still use the original art in the remaster.
>4, PW or even V
>shit
Maybe if youre a retard who can't appreciate good gameplay. Also PW is easily on par with the original trilogy.
This, Black and white 1 and 2 and Fable 1 & 2 were great fun and made me excited to see where games like this would go.
Now he just makes shit.
What ever happened to the god game genre?, i'd love to see a new game like Black and White but with actually good AI for the creature, villagers and most importantly. the other god you fight and their people/creature.
Infinite was pretty bad m8, although it'd make Ken Levine more of a Doctor Who writer than George Lucas
>Infinite wasn't bad
Only good thing about Infinite was how pretty the city was.
Should've never been called Bioshock.
Inafune is close. They're both shrewd businessmen who found success by cashing in on, and in some ways taking credit for, other people's creative work. The only movies Lucas ever made that are remembered fondly are the first Star Wars (which he readily admits he made by borrowing a lot from Flash Gordon) and American Graffiti. The other two original Star Wars movies, and all of Indiana Jones movies, all had screenplays written by other people, and were all directed by other people. All of these films go on George Lucas's resume because of his vague contributions to their stories. Inafune is similar -- before he got exposed with the MN9 fiasco, he got credit for being "the father of mega man," even though he only ever worked on the series as an illustrator and a producer.
>the shit star wars movies
Lucas literally has nothing to do with the Disney ones.
kojimbo
Kojima is the George Lucas of videogames if George Lucas created the Phantom Menace 3 times in a row
hahaha
Sakamoto
He never was involved at all.
He wanted Lucas Art to be his own thing.
Hidetaka Miyazaki
He did run it into the ground with MGS4 lmao
Sakamoto
Unironically this.
>plays part in launching successful IPs
>all the actual creative credit belongs to other people
>compatriots laud him as a skilled businessman, not an artist
>strikes out on his own with "his" creative vision to wild fanfare
>product is later mocked and quietly fades into suitable obscurity
Though the prequels were successful and Lucas made a gorillion dollars selling out. Conman will be lucky to ever lead a game project again.
>American Graffiti
Does anyone actually care about American Graffiti? It's just a boomer circlejerk specifically for people born the same year as him.
The only time I ever see it mentioned is because of the association with Lucas.
Reminder that Indiana Jones's past was based off Roman Polanski
