You can play the game without spending money-- all they charge actually money for is additional stash tabs (you get 4 free), additional character slots (you already have a lot) and cosmetics that are wholly unnecessary.

actually yeah, its one of those rare free to play games that are free to have fun.

I've been playing this for years and I completely forgot you can spend money on it.

if the game is free, what's stopping you from just making another account to use as a mule and getting infinite stash tabs

honestly very convenient to have but its still very possible to play the game well without them.

More or less required to use the shitty trading system. Truly the game's biggest flaw, which is to say there game as a whole is pretty great otherwise.

i got my couple of hundred hours in two seasons ago, i doubt theyve changed it too much since then. i mean just try it, isnt that what free to play is all about?

its totally viable, but in the end you will want to spend some money on it, no matter what you will need 1 currency stash tab and 1 premium stash tab, its not expensive and not necessary but if you plan to do all the endgame things there is to do you will want them because although its possible to reach it without them it will make you want to kill yourself

Atleast 1 premium stash is nearly mandatory if you want to do trading in the endgame - and unless you're playing SSF, you need to trade to progress in the game.
You can trade without premium stash tabs, but only with third party tools like Acquisition. Prem stash tabs is a lot less of hassle though.
I see it as a $10 entry fee to fully enjoy the game after getting through the campaign.

You pretty much need storage space for endgame, but yes you can experience everything in the game without paying.

Since 2013 all I've bought was the currency tab and an extra tab, they go for cheap during sales

you can play through the whole campaign and experience the endgame without much trouble as a free to play. Some asian dude was the first to 100 in solo self found last league and he only had 4 tabs. You're going to want at least a currency tab and a premium tab to trade if you want to progress through the end game and trade. Its a pretty fair system and they release new content every 3-4 months.

They are definitely useful if you decide to keep playing. Just wait for a sale and buy the ones you want. The sales aren't random so you'll know when they are going to be on sale
