I got Yakuza 0 a few months ago as my first yakuza game and then played kiwami. 0 is probably one of my favorite games now.

I looked up how the original compared to kiwami and saw that it had english voice actors ,which were horrible. Do the other games in the series have terrible english voice acting?

I'm liking how if you go anywhere now on the internet you're starting to see more and more Yakuza stuff. I keep getting recommended the "History of Yakuza" video on Youtube, PSN has it on the browser's first page constantly, Amazon had it several times I checked, and I remember seeing Gamestop had it front and center as well. It seems like Sega is really giving us an honest shot and I for one am very pleased.

English dub was for 1 only and it was pretty hilarious all around with it. I'll still remember the "I'm gonna make you squeal like a little bitch" from Gary "BUSTERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLMES and "Hey, you!" which is still hilarious when you see random people blurt it out while chasing you. Not to mention "Get this arrogant mo-ther fuck-er". Some of the characters are better in the dub as well like Shimano for example, his English VA is fantastic.

What was the excuse again when the devs said that Kiryu never killed anyone despite getting into multiple shootouts throughout the series?

Things I hated about Y5:
> superflous bs of practically every route having you start out with minigame crap.
> Mirei for practically blackmailing the orphanage
> Shinada's lines that make no fucking sense.
> Haruka's GENIUS idea near the end to end her fucking career and put many at risk of being blacklisted or "want to get to know her and the orphans a little better because we and your foster daddy go way back".

Can't remember. Shit gets stupid during the car chases he usually caps people in, and in 6 where he shoots a fucking chopper out of the sky with a rocket launcher. You even see the chopper crash and burn.

Kiryu didn't kill anyone, he just assisted in their suicide. Not only that, all the weapons are rubber. Kiryu never killed anyone.

Some advice for people doing Clan Creator:
Don't use anything but support skills. Attack skills are virtually worthless and in Amon's case his rocket will literally wipe your leaders out and it's completely random where he shoots it in his cone due to friendly fire, grenades seem to be fine though. Don't be like me and get him to 57 because you like him in your crew, it leads to painful fights with Amon part 3 since he can barely handle fighting himself at times and you desperately need invincibility or healing during those fights instead of special attacks. I doubt having Majima or Saejima in your team would help with their spins since Amon himself does them as a normal attack and they don't help much.

Pocket Circuit Fighter is also hit or miss, he seems to barely attack in fights but his ability is too good, however if you use codes you can get both Daigo (R) and Daigo (C) to replace him if you want and Daigo hits like a truck while taking damage like a tank.

On another note, does anyone know of a good character I could replace Amon and PCF with? Most of them don't look too appealing besides just running another Daigo and maybe Majima or Saejima. This is what my setup is like right now and it would take an enormous amount of grinding to level people up to get to where I am right now, I can only complete Amon Kamurocho part 3 about 80% of the time right now, they still sometimes just group everyone into a circle and behind their dancing to kill all my leaders in one second.

If you've been under a rock, the thing is, Sega accidentally RELEASED THE FULL GAME as the demo onto the store, took it down, and haven't put the real demo up for a while now

Just finished Yakuza 0, feeling a little confused about some of the stuff that happened.

The transition from 0 Majima to the classic crazy guy we know from every game after felt a little awkward. He was inspired by the crazy people he met over the course of the game to act crazy himself, but 0 would imply it's just a front he's putting on, right? I mean he brutally murders his underlings in 1, is this just a case of "character we are playing as can't be evil and do bad things"? I also find it baffling that he and Kiryu never actually met in game, why does he call him Kiryu-chan after the credits? Did he just respect him because he heard about him saving Makoto multiple times?

Also it makes zero sense that Kiryu went back to the Yazuka between 0 and 1, he'd already gained the pointless title of Dragon of Dojima, who was cucked to hell and back by the end of the game. Felt like it underplayed 1's themes some.

Okada is one of the best leaders: great stats, good attacks, and Rainmaker does a lot of damage.
Amon is also one of the best leaders despite his ability being kinda ass (it does do fuckloads of damage, so it's good situationally). I dunno how the (C) version compares stat-wise to his normal version, though.
Replace Ono Michio with Hashigoto and PCF with Tanahashi, at the very least. Also, there's no reason to have Daigo in the captain spot since you're mostly using him for his skill, not his combat ability. The reason he "hits like a truck while taking damage like a tank" is because his stats are being massively boosted by who's under him.

Not like it even matters who you pick since clan creator is so easy.

I know that but its been like a week and no response. Guess I will play Kiwami 2 demo in mean time and maybe 4 and 5 and maybe Kiwami. Has anyone done a guide to differences between 2 and Kiwami 2?

On harder difficulties they will just super armor through your ass every single time once their health gets lower. It's best to just to small hits and weave out.

I think I'm leaving him since I love him so much and I'll bear the consequences. I agree that Amon is great for fighting, from what I understand the rating just means higher stats so the (C) version should be higher than the one you get from the substory, it's just that his special is so terrible and rarely ever hits anything without the friendly fire.

Thanks for the suggestions with Okada and Tanahashi, I'll see if I can fit them in. The reason I was using Daigo in such a high spot is due to the buffs Majima, Date, and Kiryu hand him, though I suppose I could place him elsewhere and still get most of the effect.

The stats of the normal one are probably higher since he's 80 cost instead of 60. That (C) version might just be a trap to trick people into killing all their friends for subpar stats.

I think you're right, checking the JP wiki the one you get from the substory has around 2500 Attack at level 1 while the (C) version has 2495 at level 11.

5 isnt as stupid but pretty damn stupid. One of the best characters gets a boss fight with a character he has no relation to, there is a battle royale in order to find a culprit, the real villain makes no damn sense and only works thematically, etc.Haruka dance battles were comfy tho

The exact same happened to me, he was even the top level almost the entire time. Basically MVP as soon as I got him and then Amon missions suddenly pushed back at me for once. He an Ono Michio seem to barely attack at times compared to the rest of the ones on my strike team.

I want to get platinum trophy for Kiwami, but can't trigger a certain substory.
It is Fake Mizuki's truth, no matter on which time of day, with or without Haruka, I can't seem to get it work.
So, my question is:
Are they any sub stories that may block this one?
I'm doing everyone I can find, so I'll may eventually get there, but I want to know if it is worth my time.

How do I remove black bars in 6?

It unlocks at the end of the game so if you already beat the game it shouldnt be an issue. I think you just need to keep trying, took me a while to get it to trigger

Where do I get the isos for the Yakuza 2 and up?

It should unlock near the end of the game, around chapter 10 or 11 if I remember right. You just go to the Champion District and get near Pares it'll drag you into it.

Settings --> Sound and Screen --> Display Area Settings --> Expand as far as you can. Some TVs can't do this due to overscan or something like that.

I'm in Premium adventure and guide says that I should head to the florist, so I'm confused a bit.

I've done every voiced one except Fake Mizuki's Truth and the follow up to it.

I personally had no trouble getting the call at all so I'm not sure what you're doing wrong. Have you left any substories by the wayside at all or are these the only two left besides Amon? Haruka will most likely interrupt the call, and maybe you need to go near Purgatory or Serena to trigger it as well? I don't think the time of day matters but I believe when it appeared for me it was at night though the only screenshots I have of it are when you're talking to the lady inside the bar so I can't tell.

Yakuza 6 is the same way with some Troublr missions not unlocking until you advance far enough into the story and finish certain substories so don't worry too much, I'm sure it's just locked behind a certain substory you haven't touched yet. Outside of 1, 2, Kenzan, 3, and 5 I haven't seen any missables I can think of anymore and I've never seen any trophies get glitched as of yet.

Date is essential for his skill. I actually use it in conjunction with Amon's rocket because I too had already sunk too much time into him.

Yeah, Date (R) has been with me since the start, same with Kiryu (C), they both have amazing skills, Kiryu's can outright slaughter Amon from full health to nothing in two Leader combos, it's absolutely ridiculous, and Date lets you survive almost anything. Daigo is also an amazing thing that I can't believe is locked behind their codes, 150 units every 10 or 20 seconds? While also having high damage and health? Of course you're in my party forever.

Your choice is either start with the PS2 games and follow along as they came out, or start with 0 on the PS4 and go into Kiwami and eventually Kiwami 2 before going to the PS3 and continuing from there. The former lets you see the games evolve and see them test out different concepts to see what sticks (Climax Heat has been changed so many times now it's pretty crazy), the latter gives you years of their tweaking of the engine and mechanics which lets you see the series in a different manner, however going back to the older games will lead you to slightly less refined gameplay and having to adjust to them so be prepared if this is the route you're going to take. Plus Kiwami 2's on the newer engine so it plays way different to how any of the games barring 6 played so hopping from Kiwami to Kiwami 2 to 3 is going to be like whiplash.

Ever since I fought Jo in 1 I've been obsessed with fighting them each time due to how ridiculous they get to be in their moveset. Getting the call or text from them every tame makes me laugh my ass off with how more elaborate things get or how silly the story ends up being.

My guess is that they probably chose to use it as symbolism showing that there's a lot of unknown people living in the shadows that could be targeting Kiryu, because they didn't want to make a unique model for someone who shows up for 3 seconds. It also keeps him open for a later appearance, like you said.
