Because Nintendo never made them
Because the reality is that you just can't shit out 900 monsters and have the last 100 look as good as the first 100
>Nintendo
also, Squirtle looks just as shitty as a SM pokemon with lazy oversimplified shapes. You only like the design because the rest of its line is great and nostalgia
do pokemon poop?
you're saying that as if the first 100 were the pinnacle of design, when they turn out to be the blandest things ever.
Part of the problem is they make the designs overcomplicated.
I've fucking hated every legendary since Gen 3.
First of all
>Nintendo
Second, you're just a nostalgiafag who misses the watercolors.
I thought gen 4's were pretty neat. I really dig the centipede tentacle dragon look.
Time for the nu-Pokemon apologists to sperg out over the "genwunner" boogeyman and deny the blatantly obvious changes in monster design the series has seen.
digimon isnt popular anymore so they can just do whatever they fuck they want
what happened to the watercolour artstyle?
Because times change and people like the new ones. It's the same shit as people complaining about old anime vs new anime.
because they have no inspiration and no motive to actually do great things when nintendo faggots buy cardboard for $80
it pains me to think what pokemon has the potential to be
At least, generally speaking, they looked like actual animals instead of deliberately over-designed trash.
>Legendary birds + artificially created OP-mons
Cool!
>Legendary dogs + two bigger birds
Yeah!
>Legendary fish, giant salamander, fucking dragon, rocks, and Jet-bird things
Okay!
>Legendary dick monsters, generic tentacle rapers, and a disgusting looking bug-thing + some weird fucking moon thing and a lava-rock monster that are completely forgetable
Uhhh...
>Ugly looking deer-like things, Legendary cloud pedos and ugly fucking dragons with pube bushes.
Gamefreak I...
>Deer, Vulture, and weird slug
Not too shabby I guess
>Ugly as fuck chimera, OOGA BOOGA MONS, generic looking lion, semi-cool bat, and a bunch of forgetable alt-dimension beasts.
*shrug*
...
This is a really great way of looking at it.
Sorry, the first 151.
Yes.
Watercolors did add a charm. I think Gens 2 and 3 would be widely loved too if they had the same treatment.
You can pay pajeet to do the bullshit we have now for fractions of a penny to the dollar it took for gook Bob Ross to create art.
Imagine having taste this shitty.
I want to ____ a Pokémon
You're saying that as if the newer generations don't look like animals at all. Have you seen stuff like Lilipup and Pyroar?
gen 2 had water colors too. it was as loved since it was just an extention of gen 1.
Prove me wrong then.
ok
your taste is bad in comparison to my superior arbitrary standards, loser.
get rekt kiddo
I mean, it's pretty well known Gen 2 is the Apex of Pokemon, so...
I mean explain to me why my taste is shit instead of low effort shit posting.
Gen 2 is a mess and arguably the most forgotten generation. Hell, people thought back in RSE that Skarmory was a Gen 3 mon.
>Gen 2 is a mess and arguably the most forgotten generation
because it's bad in comparison to my superior arbitrary standards.
I hope you're not a Gen 5 fag.
>some Johto gym leaders didn't even use new Pokemon
>shit like Houndour and Murkrow were only obtainable in Kanto
>some of them were so forgettable that people thought they were from other gens
>absolute shitty level scaling for the E4
>gen 2 Pokemon barely pop up in regional Pokedex
Come on now.
You win again...
You always do.
Yes, let's leave out all of the most memorable pokes of Gen 2 and how people are dying to have a Pokemon game that visits a previous region.
They do
Here's why.
>the most memorable
there are barely any and the most popular ones were given a Mega
>visiting a previous region
People want this for every single game, but this will just result into horrible scaling.
But it's a game for kids
Mewtwo started the trend of the more humanoid and anthropomorphic being more popular. This continued with Pokemon like Gardevoir and Lucario, and culminated in the Gen 6 and 7 starters.
I'll explain why you are wrong for Giratiina at least, since it's actually one of the most thought out legendaries conceptually they've done.
To begin with, it obviously looks satanic: It's a red, black, and gold dragon, itt's part ghost, and it's origin form is a snake. It's dex entries and species name and in game stuff seem to suggest it too: it's the renagade pokemon, and it was banished for being violent by Arcerus. The fact the disrortion world appears around graveyards (turnback cave) also cements this.
But, it's also based on Anti-matter, as part of the trio of Dialga and Palkia being time and space (why it's not gravity when that'd make more sense, I don't know). All of what I mentioned above can be recontextualized in that context: It's "violence" is the fact that anti-matter explodes when it contacts matter. It was made by accident, since sinnoh's legends establishe that dialga and palkia made matter together on Arcerru's wishes, meaning that it's renagade because it wasn't meant to exist to begin with. This also explains why disortion world is a mirror world, and moreover, ties in with the fact that IRL, there's "missing" antimatter: there should be a roughly even amount of matter and antimatter, but there's way less antimatter in actuality, like it goot sucked into another dimension.
Also it looks cool as hell
>gamefreak
>nintendo
is this the most common misconception in all of vidya
no, but the nintenbro damage control pretending nintendo doesnt own most of gamefreak and pokemon company is
Nintendo doesn't own Game Freak, they're still allowed to and still do develop games for non-Nintendo consoles.
>Nintendo
Grnwunners know so little about the series they claim to love so much. Fake fans.
Gen 7 just gave you a tiger, a seal, and an owl for starters. fuck off NOT MUH ANIMAL bullshit.
Nintendo owns 1/3 of Gamefreak
Pokemon company owns 1/3 of Gamefreak
Nintendo owns Pokemon Company and thus owns majority of Game Freak
Get it now Nintenbro? Gamefreak is Nintendo, Pokemon is Nintendo, period. Your damage control catch phrases don't change facts.
>Nintendo owns Pokemon Company
>Pokemon company owns 1/3 of Gamefreak
Wrong, ownership of The Pokemon Company is split three-way between Game Freak, Nintendo, and Creatures Inc.
>hating the Ultra Beasts
other than EL HOMBRE all the UB are well designed. If Deoxys is allowed to be an alien from another planet why can't they.
>MUH GENWUN WOULD NEVER ALLOW THAT!
Clefairy would like to chat.
don't forget NO KANTO SAFARI ZONE!
You’re not playing pocket animals, boo
youre absolutely right
and nintendo owns game freak and creatures inc, dumb fuck
They aren't animals though, they're supernatural monsters
>GEN 1 151 BEST
>a lot of gen 2 pokemon were dropped from the planned 190 Pokemon for gen 1.
>Nintendo didn't make them
To use they're supernatural monsters
To people in the Pokemon world, they're animals.
Id rather have the bland and simple in the first generation than the digimon looking overdesigned garbage in the latest generation
>le overdesigned digimon meme
Unlike animals, Pokemon are established to be fully sapient
Some of them.
>le meme arrows
Because GAME FREAK can only follow trends, and the trends are plush toys.
No, all of them
That's always been the case though, especially with the starters. The first forms are cute and plushy-friendly, then they start gaining more "realistic" proportions as they evolve.
Magikarps act mainly on instinct.
Gen 3 has the best designs, prove me wrong.
Nintendo never made Pokémon
>Random tentacle shit
>Random
The very name Deoxys is based off of the official name of "DNA". Those random tentacles you see are in the pattern of DNA strands you fucking philistine.
Like I said
Random
>You just miss when effort was required when designing the game
Woa no way
Imagine thinking you have good taste
Huh, I was thinking about this earlier today (Legends and Mythicals).
I wrote an autistic essay on it, but to condense:
>Gen 1
Birds that were folk myths and local legends. They didn't possess any actually amazing abilities, they were simply mysterious and rare animals. Mewtwo was a genetic experiment, and Mew was the original.
>Gen 2
Again, some rare animals with local lore about them, although it extended to the mascots this time. It also introduces a time traveling pixie though.
>Gen 3
Now this is where it got odd. Between the two mascots, they legitimately appear to have world altering power aside from the myths. The gen doesn't shy away from making them actually deific beings, and only in later gens was it denoted that there are wild Kyogre living in the sea, and Rayquaza simply lives too high and has habits that don't dictate it needs to leave that environment to regularly interact with people. Groudon didn't get this same treatment as far as I recall. The Golems are the second instance of supposedly "made" Pokemon, and the Latis are regular animals if the series is to be believed, just rare.
>Gen 4
This was the gen it completely spilled over. Pokemon that have truly divine power over space and time, creation, etc. and the designs to match. These weren't simply myths about local rare beasts, these were legitimately as close to gods as Pokemon could get. Of course, it still had some that remained rare animals, like Manaphy, Shaymin, Heatran, or Darkrai (although Darkrai is based more on a concept, it's still technically just a rare species). It also introduced some Pokemon that were extensions of heavenly power, in that they were able to extend gifts of reason or power of mind to others (although it's been so long that I don't recall if they demonstrated it as such).
>Gen 5
Toning it down considerably, only 3 of them were based on divine beings, with the others being nature rangers, and some creatures who were transformed artifacts.
Cont'd
Love this nigga.
>Again, some rare animals with local lore about them, although it extended to the mascots this time. It also introduces a time traveling pixie though.
In gen 2, ho oh resurrected the 3 legendary beasts. They died from a fire. That's literally what you'd call divine
to add to this, ho-oh's signature attack is called sacred fire and it's holding sacred ash when you catch it
God I hate this chart so fucking much. Most of that shit is just minor nitpicks you would never even notice. We all played gen 1 when we were little kids alright, none of us were researching the meta on Smogon to make the ultra perfect competitive team.
>Gen 5 cont'd
This also brought back experimentation-bases with Genesect. Victini and Meloetta didn't get much expansion, but were seemingly normal.
Kyurem was supposedly alien in nature, but overall was the source of the two artifact legends. Design wise, the gen seemed to have the weakest sublegends, with a sort of recolor motif coming from the Kami trio, but the Tao trio were alright.
>Gen 6
Toning the amount down but not the representation, it only had 3 legends and 3 mythicals. Among the legends, they ramped it back to gen 4 levels of power, with the being of life and the being of death. Supposedly Yveltal can kill everything just to restore itself. Zygarde is worked into the ecological landscape later on in the next gen, showing that it's a series of small, numerous animals that band together. As a planarian, it's something that wouldn't generally be seen as a legend, but works well.
The mythicals are simply animals save for Hoopa, as Diancie is a natural mutation of Carbink and Volcanion is a mountain dwelling beast they never really expanded on much, even in the movie. Hoopa, well it's a bit over the top, a portal hopping genie.
>Gen 7
Surprisingly given the nature of the the games theming, this gen toned it down the most. While there are still local deities (the Tapu), most of the legends are simply alien animals that were adopted into folklore due to how powerful they are. The mascot duo in particular is noted to be domesticated and used as a travel service by alien peoples, and Necrozma is simply a space faring beast who was injured by humans. Silvally is a man made beast, and Magearna is as well. Haven't looked into Marshadow or Zeraora. Ultra Beasts, while regarded as sublegends in the game code, are not officially recognized by TPC as legendary.
Ho-Oh is also shown to be just a very rare beast, like it's basis, the phoenix. The series is too inconsistent with how it states Ho-Oh's power so I omitted it.
>a phoenix is just rare and not supernatural
what
The phoenix's legend in popular culture generally refers to it as being extremely rare.
This does not mean it exists.
ok but follow me here, we're talking about pokemon, and you're saying that ho-oh does not have any supernatural elements to it, when it literally is holding an item that revivies your entire party to full health when you catch it
>Nintendo
What did he mean?
and yes, there are man-made items that revive pokemon now, but this is a pouch of ashes
No, I'm saying it's shown to be simply a rare species. Item or not, your Pokemon are fainted, not dead.
If I was disqualifying Pokemon or excluding them from "rare animal species" status based on if they had any supernatural or crazy powers, that kills over 90% of all Pokemon off. Note that I did note things that are clearly not based on real animals as "rare species" like Darkrai or Diancie.
To put it in short, I'm not saying "rare animals" in the definition of "real life animals including basis," I'm saying rare animals as in they appear in the Pokemon world, where gears and clay dogu are living creatures that regularly inhabit the environment.
>was it denoted that there are wild Kyogre living in the sea
what? When was this ever said? Weatherfags have always been one-of-a-kind beyond "dude they're here so you don't have to buy an obscure game to get them" mechanics.
But ho-oh is mythical for a reason. Think about it, being mythical in a world with real psychic powers and living piles of sludge- it's not just rare, it's technically the only one of its kind and it has powers that only it seems to have
I'm considering all media, and almost all of its appearances outside of a climactic role as either a plot point or being summoned from a portal are it casually swimming in the ocean. In Manaphy's movie, one's just swimming along with a group of other Pokemon.
Mythical is different from Legendary in the context of Pokemon.
It's not one of a kind and it being the subject of a myth is something I had already considered. And Xerneas and the tears of Pokemon have been shown to revive the dead. Human spirits (or supposedly spirits) revive as Pokemon even.
>Mythical is different from Legendary
now i know you're trollin
bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net
>inb4 bulbapedo
The information is correct and it's easier to read than the lurid looks of the other sources that have translated info.
If you don't want to read it, Mythical Pokemon are generally event ones.
ok the tears of pokemon was a dramatic choice from the movie and that's not how it works, just like how there is no pokemon attack to turn you into stone
Xerneas has never shown the ability to resurrect the dead as Ho-oh did, Xerneas can only share eternal life. There was one instance that showed Xernas could not resurrect from death ( a human named Aila) and no confirmed resurrections
How is ho-oh not one of a kind though? It's the only one. Ho-oh is just Ho-oh. There are no variations of it, there is only one in existence, the only way multiple ones exist is time/space shenanigans
Xerneas revived the entire forest of trees turned to ashen branches and the population of the forest.
Several Ho-Oh show up in the series, and there's nothing to indicate it's the sole member of it's race other than the myths of the local people.
>criticize nugen visual design
>nugenner autists whip out a big list of archaic game mechanics gen 1 had like it's somehow an argument
Newer Pokemon are designed with selling toys and merchandise in mind.
>shitting on Zygarde
Its a fucking badass leviathan Eco Friendly Cobra
fuck you nigger
Zygarde was a lot better before dog and gundam forms.
this
>Gundam form is locked behind an ability
>You can't have Zygarde 100% at all times
Fucking Game Freak.
>i want 100 more mutations of dogs, cats and birds
what about the little bits
we don't know if there are several or only one because there is never more than one ho-oh on screen. lugia however is a different story; which should sorta prove that it is possible there are multiple ho-oh/articuno/entei/mew ect
I think the better question to ask is if there is more than one arceus
