Is this worth finishing? I kinda lost motivation and if I take a break I don't think I will pick it up again.
I'm 10 hours in now, some of the characters are cool I guess but the story doesn't really interest me and the combat is pretty boring
Final fantasy xii
The combat and hunts are really the only thing people like about this game.
The story is ass, the characters are underdeveloped ass. Just drop it. It's one of the worst FF's anyway.
Some fag will come in here and say it's one of the best, but he's fucking wildly wrong.
I finished it finally after 12 years or whatever it's been since it originally came out. Underwhelming, and I'm glad to be finally done with it. I will never play it again
how is the combat fun? are there any ways to make it more fun? I just setup the gambits and it does everything for me. is this the fun part?
This game is a directorial disaster, so no. The story never seems to know where it's going so it never finds it's foothold, the pacing is a mess and the characters are all largely forgotten after they're given one or two minutes of screen time and the ending is forgettable and uninteresting.
Nope, this is exactly what happened to me when it first came out.
Setting gambits is fun you fucking inbred mongrel.
Finish it. Put the reigns of history back in Man's hands.

If you play the PC version you can access New Game Minus from the start. Presumably, going by the OP image, you're playing the ps4 version, in which case I think NG- unlocks after beating the game.
>Dude what if we made literally half the cast be inconsequential to the story
>Dude what if we made multiple cutscenes where the main character has no idea what's going on and just stands in the background while people who matter speak
>Dude what if we made a character who's literally just a random girl off the street
>Dude what if we made a character with an interesting and nuanced backstory and then only let the player use him in one dungeon, at the end of which he dies
>Dude what if we made a villain who has zero emotional connection to the heroes and doesn't even meet them until the last ten minutes
>Dude what if we took an established setting with a million interesting species and then only included humans and bunny humans as playable characters
>Dude what if we gave the narrator a comical Apu accent
>Dude what if we made a complicated political plot and then ruined it by turning it into standard ancient god shenanigans halfway through
>Dude what if we made a plot where the heroes have almost no impact on what happens until 95% of the way through the story, and they spend their time tromping from one ancient temple to the next
>Dude what if I'm Captain Basch
>Dude what if we took everything 100% seriously and had zero levity outside of Balthier and Cid
>Dude what if we wrote all of the dialogue to sound like a Renaissance Fair
>Dude what if we we had no overworld and all travel was handled by a menu or floating teleport crystals
>Dude what if we made a battle system where you set everything up in advance so that you don't actually play the game
>Dude what if we made a level-up system where all of the characters become literally identical in function
>Dude what if we made summons useless except for opening doors
>Dude what if we put all of the interesting and unique content in sidequests
>Dude what if instead of having fun side games like the motorcycle chase and Triple Triad we had nothing
>Dude what if we had really shitty music
Gambits are a good system trapped in a basic jrpg franchise.
If you're not liking it by now, the rest of the game won't convince you. There's some series-defining kino moments later on, but definitely not worth it if the minute-to-minute grind isn't doing it for you.
try to set up a working 'steal, then attack' gambit and tell me how much fun you have with this shitty system then
...
>dude what if we reposted XV-kun copypasta
poor form user
>Foe: HP 100% - Steal
>Foe: Targeting Self/Ally - Attack
Pretty straightforward.
The fact that this shit game is unironically hailed as one of the best FF games by Sup Forums is mindboggling. It's almost as bad as 13 but people put it up there with 6, 7, and 9. WHAT?
Contrarianism
Game is just objectively shit, user. The game director changed mid-development (and multiple times?) and it's so painfully obvious. Game is bad and you should feel bad if you think otherwise.
>It's almost as bad as 13
nah it's worse

It could have been amazing. The beginning of the game and that cutscene left me so hyped you have no idea.
>>flawed but decent tier
Just list every final fantasy game here.
Only 6 and 7 could be considered the best and even those still fit that tier
