I thought it was stupid to make the day Max moved the same day that William died. The first game had a flashback sequence where you play out that day, and the clothes worn aren't even the same.
I just felt it was a cheap way to make the episode more emotional. Plus it made Max look like more of a cunt for ignoring Chloe.

Max said they were playing dress-up for an hour before episode started.
I think it's a logical conclusion to the story. It's basically a starting point and it made a lot of sense to finish with it since the story goes backwards.
If there was no major event in the episode it'd be rendered pointless. And Max is not a cunt. Her reasons are perfectly understandable.

I feel you, user. Every gf I've ever had (3) has either cheated on me or left me. I used to be a hopeless romantic but now I'm a cynical s.o.b. who doesn't even believe in love and thinks all women are incapable of simple honestly and/or loyalty/devotion.

The major event was her telling Chloe she was moving, and then her moving. I don't really think someone needs to die for a story to be emotionally impactful. Just knowing that Max said things wouldn't change, but knowing that in the end they still do, is impactful enough, without making it a double whammy.
