What is it about Overwatch that attracts the absolute dregs of the human psyche?
What is it about Overwatch that attracts the absolute dregs of the human psyche?
Is the target audience.
>What is it about *insert shallow game made for the lowest common denominator with waifus* that attracts the absolute dregs of the human psyche?
I dunno, probably it's their target audience, possibly
They are designed for the funko pop buying audience
>Players screaming "NIGGER" at each other 24/7 is sane, rational human behavior, according to Sup Forums
>Aren't allowed to say anything slightly mean in Overwatch
>Now people are starting to resent those who say nice things
So is Overwatch just moving towards a complete removal of chat?
It's funny and appropriate only when somebody takes offense
it's pretty amusing
lighten up :-)
and how did you exactly reach that conclusion?
here's why
Even if you looked at sane, rational behavior outside of Sup Forums, treating nice players as "toxic" is retarded.
Great thread, OP. I just know the discussion is going to be really cool!
a whole lobby screaming "NIGGER" would be pretty funny
Ah, to be 15 year ago.
>Literally and actual blog post about muh feelings when playing OW

Wtf I hate videogames now
>game is full of waifufaggotry bullshit

Gee, I fucking wonder...
this is what happens when you don't keep score in tee-ball.
Ugh, I'm just *so* above that uncouth language these days.
the massive amounts of pornography
I don't know. But I'm currently taking a c# class at my uni, and two of the guys in the class carry around overwatch toys and shit with them at all times.
During break (its a 3 hour class), they chat about overwatch, and mess around with their tracer figurines and shit. They are both the perfect picture of an obese neckbeard that Sup Forums imagines. Then the other pulls out his switch and plays mario.
I wish I was making this up

EVER HEARD OF CLICK BAIT YOU FUCKING RETARDS
>hear about Blizzard hiring based on a diversity quota
I wish I could refund the game, but I can't since I bought it at launch. All I can do now is play it, or just ignore it.
>To all of the randos I’ve met who spit in the face of Overwatch’s toxic reputation and then apologize for it, I have a confession to make: I hate you. Don’t get me wrong: I really appreciate what you do! Your highly specific and often unwarranted bursts of positivity defuse countless volatile situations. You come into matches with sunlight beaming out of all of your orifices, and whether you’re forcing it or not, it’s inspiring. It makes me want to do my best, be a team player, and reciprocate your kindness. Even if we lose, you’re just so dang cheery about how hard everybody tried. How can anyone get angry and start barfing insults when you’re over there saying to each and every one of us, “Hey, hey you. I noticed you.” Individual compliments! A revelation!
>If everybody—or most of everybody, or even a slightly more significant portion of everybody—was like this, Overwatch would be a tangibly more enjoyable game. So naturally, when I see people behaving this way, I think to myself, “I should be like that, too!” Being nice? It’s a piece of cake, and it’s good for everybody involved. There is literally no reason not to do it while playing a video game where people are strangely mean even though nothing of lasting importance whatsoever is on the line.
>So I join a match, and I take stock of my team’s composition. Cool. Good. I can work this. Maybe I’ll mimic a popular Lucio line: “Look at this team. We’re gonna do great.” Before hitting enter, however, I stop. I don’t know these people! What if they think I’m a total dork, or they ask me why I’m being so nice, or they yell at me? And then I have to say more things to justify the things I’ve already said? I panic internally. Crippling social anxiety, you see, is one of my signature moves, and it manifests only slightly less in video games than it does in real life. So I do my other signature move: instead of saying anything, I say nothing at all.
what a fucking faggot
But they write about it because its popular? Or is it popular because they write about it?
It's not like the game is deep enough to need chat.
>Then the moment passes, and we play the game. It goes fine, or it doesn’t. We get to the end-of-match screen, and I upvote a healer like always (because if you don’t upvote healers every time you’re given the opportunity, you’re a psychopath), and I try to think of nice things to say to everybody. “Great healing, Moira!” “Clutch ult, Genji!” “You did a really nice job of trudging stoically forward, grim determination lighting your path, despite the fact that we were definitely not gonna win that one, Reinhardt!” All of these things come to mind, but saying them is hard. What if somebody I don’t compliment feels left out? What if everybody’s already so tilted that they just tell me to fuck off? Or, worst of all, what if they just say nothing at all, and I’m left hurling sunshine into the void?
>This actually happened to me recently. During one match, I kept getting owned in Pharah duels by a member of the other team. Their aim and timing was preposterous, so I typed “Hey [other Pharah’s handle], how are you so good at aiming in Pharah vs. Pharah battles?” into match chat. Five seconds passed. Then ten. Then twenty. No response. Finally, somebody else on the other team just said “lol.”
>I’m not entirely sure why that moment was so embarrassing for me, but it was. I still think about it and wonder what I could have done differently sometimes.
>You can understand, then, why I resent you, egregiously nice Overwatch players. Please, by all means, keep doing what you do! The world needs you. I need you. But also, I despise you because by being so cool and kind, you hold a mirror up to my actions, and I see someone who can play a first-person shooter for hours and hours on end, but who can’t pull the trigger on being kind for just a few stinking seconds here and there.
holy shit LMAO
reminds me of a guy who I know lurks here, he talked about it all the time after class. on 15 minute break one day he ate an ENTIRE standard size bag of cape cod chips. thats like 3000 calories of chips, and like 800 grams of fat or some shit.
>chris metzen fucking left
could it be a sign?
This. Trash talk is cancer
Although blizzard has gone a little too far with the restrictions.
>((((Nathan Grayson))))
>What is it about Overwatch that attracts the absolute dregs of the human psyche?
ALL videogames attract losers
>I'm to insecure to be nice to people
What a fucking tool. If I got good team mates, I let them know. Not doing it only encourages shitty toxic players.
>ate an ENTIRE standard size bag of cape cod chips
>I felt resentment that people were nice to me
JUST
>Overwatch players are too toxic
>Overwatch players are too nice
Goodnight sweet prince.

how have western men become so unable to cope with any form of adversity?
>Everyone and their mom could've predicted this shit
Now everyone's gonna be paranoid in real life and online
>$4000 fine for using an emote
Are they actually fucking serious?
How fucking petty is everything that surrounds this game?
This is what happens when you enable people to dwell in their victim complex. When you never push and help them confront their problems and emotional traumas, they become a fucking incapable wreck.
IT's funny, this guy is so "traumatized" that even when people are nice, it triggers the fuck out of him. We are finally witnessing the symptoms of this shitty "triggered" movement.
>Day 1: Everything bad happened to me today, I want to kill myself.
>Day 2: Nothing bad happened today and everything went perfectly. This makes me want to kill myself even more.
>dregs
>psyche
HURRR me shakespeare me know big word me clever you dumb HURRR
Why are meaningless insults used over mic by anonymous strangers such an issue to you, to the point where you want to create an environment that is reminiscent of 1984?
You're worse than them. You inflict far more harm than anything these people could do over a microphone. Mute them, you crybaby gaffer cunt, the majority shouldn't have to suffer because of the actions of a few.
To be fair, no online game should allow any communication or contact between players.
>fined $4000 for using an emote
holy shit when did multiplayer gaming become so fucked?
Miyamoto pls leave now.
i'm glad i stopped playing online games.
They write about Overwatch because it's popular.
They write about this topic because it's click bait controversy.
There's only two embarrassing guys in your programming class? You're lucky. Pretty much everyone in my programming class was embarrassing. They never shut up about boring shit like their magic card game or their weekend roleplaying or, worst of all, fucking anime. I got along really well with most of my lecturers by virtue of the fact that I was one of the only students in their classes that wasn't a pathetic manchild.
(((Nathan Grayson)))
humanity is trying to kill itself by any means.
go watch some more leafyishere lol
and then kill yourself ofc
This behavior can be explained by high cortisol, low serotonin levels. Same thing happens to lobsters as it does to humans, the high cortisol, low serotonin is a bottom-of-the-pile beta male who flees from any interaction with others out of fear of confrontation.
The chemistry of their brain changes and even winning, even pleasant interaction only releases more cortisol instead of serotonin, because the brain knows it is weak and the victory was likely a fluke. Releasing serotonin under the guise it was being alpha would only lead to self-destruction, not so much in the humans case but the beta lobster would be likely killed if it got cocky with an alpha.
DONT TALKE SHIT ABOUT MAGIC
>remember how wizards is retroactively gonna make 700 cards have an errata because they are retarded
Well... yeah, fuck magic.
>goes to a programming class
>gets angry they're not all talking about MMA and gains
On one hand, I agree. Games nowadays are so braindead you can do without talking at all and still get the job done.
On the other hand, I miss hatemail. Lord knows how many people might have blacklisted me in SFV just for maining Laura.
Sounds like someone who is barely 20 and is playing multiplayer games for the first time.
This literally explains 100% of all the controversy in the video game journalism.
...
insider.foxnews.com
>play football
>get 6000$ fine
>retroactively gonna make 700 cards have an errata
what
This article actually makes sense to me.
When someone is overly nice in chat and throws more than a "gj" at someone for doing well, I get annoyed. I can't explain it.
Isn't it Blizzard's fault for making a racist emote? It would be good if we knew which one was it.
>Sup Forums user suffers from anxiety
>FUCKING NORMIES REESE
>someone else suffers from it
>hate them
>Judged for judging people no matter how you word it
There people should just beg blizzard for a "i can't see the chat" option for themselves and let normal people talk to each others.
Basically he used an emote of a black dude.
>Hey, why are you such a ?
>Guess it comes natural, since you're a LOL
>Ooga booga LMAO
etc.
Thing is if people didn't throw such a fit over the word nigger and didn't try to censor it all the time, it might just be another lame cuss everyone used and nobody really cared about. But no, conservative cunts have to censor bad language.
God, should not have read the full article.
>People are mean
WAAAAAAAA STOP IT, I'M PROJECTING MY OWN INSECURITY BUT YOU'RE THE PROBLEM
>People aren't mean
WAAAAAAAA STOP IT, I'M PROJECTING MY OWN INSECURITY BUT YOU'RE THE PROBLEM
Jesus christ.
Because it´s engineered to appeal to as many people as possible and generate the most amount of dollars. Gameplay is secondary, it´s just about mass appeal.
>"""anxiety""" actually being a valid thing
If people are too fucking beta to not piss themselves in fear over talking to someone that isn't my fault
Hey OP, you know, I think you're a really GREAT guy and not a faggot at all. I'm sure you're very good at video games too!
>Sup Forums is one person
>everyone on Sup Forums has anxiety
>internet
>sane
either normie or grandpa regardless gtfo because you don't belong
>competitive online games in 2022
>absolutely no kind of interaction between players is allowed
>being good or even above average is now a bannable offense since it might upset other people
>mice and keyboards are banned so console players and sofa people can play on even ground
>ranking systems are revamped so everyone is in the highest and only bracket at any given time
>winning and losing is no longer possible, games end abruptly after a set amount of time
this is the future you chose
It's the game's target audience.
It's not so much a game as a "ban whoever hurts my feelings" simulator.
You can turn it back on them though.
that describes my position. i got jumped by nigs once and it fucked me up both physically and mentally. gradually i came to a point where interaction with others is simply exhausting and stressful even though everything always goes fine and i have not been in a confrontational situation in something like 10 years.
Marxism in a nutshell
>Mean players trigger me
>Nice players trigger me
There's nothing these fucks won't complain about.
Pretty sure the physiological response of anxiety is real m8.
Try again.
>>gets angry they're not all talking about MMA and gains
See, this is the problem. For you guys your life begins and ends with your childish hobbies. It's all you know and you think all anyone knows is their hobbies. This is why nobody likes to talk to you and they think you are boring. You have no lives.
...
They're deliberately pandered to
i know, it's sad as fuck that you're obsessed with MMA and gains. you might one day grow out of it. there may be hope.
When you appeal to those with neurosis, you'll end up with those with neurosis.
I got banned for swear words, and there is a profanity filter built in, fuck you doing blizzard? How do they get progressively worse every year, how is it possible..?
If you haven't spewed racial slurs or denied the Holocaust during a heated gaming moment, you aren't a gamer. You're a soyboy cuck who should go back to "his" homosexual antifa transgenderism rallies.
At some point they added a new type of card, which could take direct damage from spells, but since until that point there was no card specifying that kind of target. So they decided to interpret that you could redirect damage from a spell that targets a player, to this new type of card.
This way old cards that target the player, could also target this new type of card, making old cards still relevant and valuable.
Everything is fine up to that point.... but NOW, after like 10 years, they are gonna release an expansion, which will have cards that can specifically target the player, but not planeswalkers (the new type mentioned earlier)
So instead of making the card say "this damage can't be redirected to planeswalkers", they decided that if a card does not state that it can target a planeswalker, then it can't.... except that the old cards still can, and therefore the retroactive errata.
So now there will be cards that don't mention planeswalkers as valid targets, and cards that do... and both of them could target a planes walker.... or NOT, depending on when the card was PRINTED
Yep, the same thing happens to lobsters, if they lose in a few fights for dominance it basically irreversibly fucks them up, and makes their brain dissolve so they can cope with being a loser (human betas have a similar effect with brain fog). They also are hit with a heavy depression (and lobster depression can be helped with human antidepressants).
What I suggest is sunlight and exercise, those are easy ways to raise serotonin.
most of online media is just cancer honestly
you know this guy is just a freelancer who's writing articles of which he knows that they're complete bullshit, but he needs to fill his quotas somehow to pay off his student loan
what has journalism become
It's certainly normal and natural human behavior. Niggers is just a contemporary word but the meaning of nigger is eternal.
Even a room full of African children will eventually result in them calling each other niggers. It's because we evolved from monkeys and whoever is the most monkey-like is lowest on the social hierarchy.
nice try overwatch drone
HOWEVER
youtube.com
you're missing the point. shit talking in games has always been fun, being banned for it is bullshit. I know black people irl who don't care about being called nigger in game.
What the fuck is this nerd's problem? It's like he's never been on the internet before.
I agree that spamming nothing but "NIGGER" is spam and achieves nothing
but what happens if someone is legitimately displaying typical nigger behaviour, or typical nigger mentality in games?
Are you just not allowed to mention that the player is being a nigger?
While it's true that slurs can be thrown about in unrelated situations, what happens if someone is legitimately being enough of a cocksucker that calling them a Faggot is merited?
It's not about word use either. Overwatch will ban you for "harassing" players if you heckle them for being shit.
It seems that, if a player is being a complete rugmunching jiggaboo, blizz expects you to just pretend they aren't.
Overwatch brings out the inner demon in everyone. Even my brother, the most laid back person in the world, who is impossible to anger, was seething after a few particularly tilting matches.
Fuck this shit game. I'm glad I quit.
>insecticide
it's a can of repellent
Niggers aren't human so I don't get what you're trying to say.
This is what I imagine all Sup Forums sounds like.
anyone still have the remix?
