Desperation
For fun
Some people don't do it for fame or money, some people just genuinely enjoy what they're doing and appreciate the few fans they have
>this
some people just like to have fun and put themselves out there
>Guy who popularized Let's Plays on youtube, and practically kicked off this whole trend because of it
>Gets >10k views per upload
Sad
I upload videos so I can watch them later.
who are you referring too?
>old lets player
>22000 subscribers
>100 or so views every video
>still uploading them 8 years later
He must do it for fun
Some dude did a complete all quest longplay (no voice) for Old School Runescape. Several hundred episodes that's just a dude completing quests. It's kind of unreal.
>fun
I don't understand, what is this "fun" you speak of?
Deceasedcrab
how to put this.....
F is for friends who do stuff together
U is for you and Me
N is for anywhere anytime at all
Hoping they will be the next pewdiepie.
Down here in the deep blue sea!
>Deceasedcrab
sounds autistic
One thing I always see successful letsplayers say is that one of the most important thing for newbies is that they have to keep at it.
Well, just how long do they have to keep at it when after a thousand videos their average view count is still below three digits?
He is
pretty sure he stopped making videos now
I was watching a bunch of advice videos from eTubers the other night. The guy said that on his channel it took him 2 years to get to 1000 subs. After that over the course of the next couple years he got to 500k.
>make videos for fun
>only get like 20 views per vid
Feels good dude.
I follow someone who gets a fair amount of fans over the years. Hes doing doing it for a little over a decade but i love the guy.
I know a guy irl who uploads videos nearly every day and he has like 10 subs. He even put an ad of his youtube channel on his fucking car.
>mfw whenever I'm sitting around doing nothing at work, I imagine I'm doing a long commentary on a game I like, pointing out strengths and flaws as I play through it, akin to something like MatthewMatosis' Dark Souls video
>usually just try to think of things I would say as I went through the game, going over gameplay mechanics and discussing the strengths and weaknesses
>will also talk out loud and explain things in an informal manner while playing games as if I'm recording myself
Maybe someday I'll actually do it.
For a small niche audience. There are thousands of channels that operate like this and the viewers usually donate money or send fan mail. I present this channel as an example of a veteran youtuber with a small group of subscribers m.youtube.com
basically luck
Yeah my friend makes videos too. I honestly think they're funny but then again we have the same humor
Do it man you have nothing to lose and maybe you'll gain some traction
GET TO IT FAGGOT
>keeping 200 people entertained for years
sounds successful to me
>LP channel
>15 second introductions
>custom logo
>1k subscribers
>phoneposting
Do you guys prefer when the LPer uses their face in the video as they're playing, or just their voice over?
This is you, isn't it, you disgusting fatass.
I have a friend of a friend who does this.
He's uploaded videos multiple times a week for years at this point. YEARS. He never breaks more than 3 digit views on anything except for one video that got over 100k because it had his sister's tits in the thumbnail. He constantly attempts to make podcasts, youtube series, streaming on twitch, he THIRSTS to be an e-celeb super hardcore and freaks the fuck out when i tell him about a coworker of mine's youtube channel actually becoming successful in a fraction of the time spent. I have no idea why he's so autistically dedicated to this shit, it seems like such a waste of time especially given how much frustration he seems to endure from it.
SovietWomble barely post videos on his youtube channel yet he got over 2.6 millions subscribers.
quality>quantity
link channel
>Start playing monster rancher
>Look up some tips
>Find a channel with like 350 monster hunter videos
>Gets basically no views
>He seems like an ok dude
>One day he stops uploading
God speed bro, i hope you're doing fine.
>being a faggot
He dead, RIP
really? what channel?
It's fun, I guess?
Whenever I play games I talk to myself all the time, as if someone was watching. I could easily just set up some recording equipment and put it all online but I don't bother because I know people won't watch it. I imagine those people are like me, except without the voice in their head that tells them to not do it.
anyone that uses their face is a fucking faggot because unless they are giving obnoxious exaggerated reactions, there is no reason to show their face.
I upload long plays. I have 300 subs and 300,000 views and have been doing this for some years now. I just do it for fun. I also like to talk to the commenters on my channel.
That said, I do miss the ad revenue I used to get because I could use it to buy two new games a year and that was pretty neat for just doing something I love.
Some people just genuinely lack any sort of "artistic" talent or even any insight, they have no grasp of why others are successful but they desperately want to achieve the same success with no talent or real effort and because they never introspect and try to understand why they are failing, they never improve. it's known as Unkle Adams Syndrome.
You never know man it could work out
i have just over 2000 subs on my channel and have fun doing it, though i wish my channel was growing a little faster.
i actually do a lot of streaming alongside the videos on youtube and i make a little money from it, at least.
they just like it and it becomes a habit, man
Possibly, but I also get whiney when things aren't going well and I wouldn't want to show off that side of myself to anyone. And sometimes when things are going well I sing randomly despite not knowing how to sing at all. It's pretty autistic.
I always get a bit sad when I see those channels that continued on for a bit and then the uploads just stopped coming.
sounds like you make shit shlock and you're taking up cyberspace
i'd watch that shit just please don't turn into pic related
Essentially, yes. One of the main problems for up-and-coming Youtubers now is that they way Youtube's algorithms work, your video will basically never show up anywhere until it already has a decent amount of views, you just have to wait until people slowly find it but once you get a decent view count you might see a spike in activity.
>Upload a single video game related video Once
>200+ subs
>Still get subs years later
Strange world
I was a retarded 12 year old with a lisp back in 2006 and even I had 500 subscribers after like 2 months of making videos consisting of me pointing a 240p camera at my DS to make a video walkthrough of me reading a gamefaqs guide for ff3 100%.
If you can't squeeze 1k subs out of 2 months of videos, you're just not meant for it.
I remember when he first started streaming, I was happy for him. I stopped paying attention after that but everything I've heard since then didn't sound good. Isn't he like super gay for ster and always following him around now? Speaking of, there's someone who fell from grace pretty badly.
are you me?
>10k means more than 10k retard
>find guy though recommended videos
>all he plays is Civilization Revolution
>he has a bunch of world records for the game because he's the only guy that uploads for it
>he developed some flash games
>he's also a hardcore protestant and flat earther
>he did a "speedrun" of a book in the King James Bible
>4.5k subscribers
Sometimes you find some interesting characters on youtube
F is for flame wars that burn down the whole board
U is for ur a fag
N is for no games ON YOUR..
>Youtube LP channel
>the videos are all around 10 minutes
>goes all the way to part 50 with some games
I am really glad streams are killing this practice. I hope there are more people into making stuff for fun who are willing to stream for an hour or two
Mega64 has been doing their shit since 2004
They haven’t a reached a million subscribers
But it doesn’t matter cause most of their pay and support come from their own website and twitch
You could, but don't expect people to care about your opinions. Maybe they will, idk. Some manage to get by doing just that so go for it.
>start by watching 019's Dead Rising videos
>then start watching Cloud8745
>branch off to his friend vash12349
>watch his friend Yoshi
>through him find out about Giant Bomb's endurance run of persona 4
and then it just evolves into more youtubers that just became shit over the years, now it's all about Funhaus baby
>Please like and subscribe at the end kf the video
>Dont
>Sometimes dislike just for whatever reason
>that youtube channel that has been making videos since 2006
>has one very successful series with a couple million views
>been stuck at 90k subs for 5+ years now
>barely gets above a couple hundred views per video despite the decent sub count and popularity at some point
It's kind of sad. I hate that classic let's playing is a dying art and Pewdiepie popularized reaction style facecam cancer with more focus on themselves than the game.
>used to watch/read gamesradar
>Then all the god tier guys just suddenly leave
>Henry G suddenly becomes an SJW and gets to his head on a twitter trump shitstorm
>I still can’t find that one user/friend I made because we had opposing arguments but still consider ourselves friends for our different tastes
I miss it
Some of those are the ones that upload walkthroughs with no commentary, which is perfect for me when I'm stuck on certain parts
user!
That's exactly what fun is all about!
>Cloud8745
Jesus Christ I remember watching that dude in like 2008. I still remember his incomplete LP of Pokemon Emerald with NTom64
2006 was a different time
Post a user who does this. I want to sub out of respect.
>Uploads videos for the sake of uploading
>not attention whores
>no intro video
These are the good ones.
this is Saint 100%
>start watching streamers
>slowly stop because twitch is shit
>still watching one streamer
>he would get about 15 viewers and would engage in conversations with me
>slowly starts losing viewers
>started playing league so i stopped watching
>see he still streams league after 2 years
>0 viewers, dropped the facecam, dropped using mic
i dont know why he still streams every other day
My nigga, he was pretty shitty, and I abandoned ship once he started asking for donations and brought all of his personal problems into his let's plays.
Cleptar is still one of my favorite youtubers and I found him by accident trying to search for someone else
Turns out when your an unfun asshole and all you do is play comp overwatch people don't like you. I'm happy Jerma's still doing his thing and going strong.
>accidentally click on a video with less than 100 views
>person is passionate
>feel guilty
>subscribe
>click on their videos to raise the view count but never watch them
Very unlikely but I really like re watching my old videos, they give me a good perspective on what I can do to get better and how I played back then. The Switch video save feature was a godsend.
this guy
raocow?
>that one friend who starts vlogging for the specific reason of trying to get status
It's very painful, and all the comments are either family members in disguise or him on another account saying he'll go places and why doesn't he have more subscribers, I feel like a dick for downvoting his videos on occasion, I should probably just ignore it
Extra Credits, please.
I like to go into streams with less than 10 viewers and say stupid shit
nothing mean, just being silly
That guy only has like 10 videos
What's the deal with unkle adams? I only know him from that song needle drop reacted to
they're still uploading them and putting the same effort into all of them despite the fact that their videos get around 25 views each
>that one slut I knew in high school tried cashing in on the titty streamer meme
>knows nothing about video games and has the personality of a rock buried under dirt
I think she ended up giving up because she wasn't catching on. She ended up playing the most normalfag games you'd expect.
saint should just end it at this point
I do this. Because I'm playing games anyway, it's not much more effort to just record while I play, and it lets me socialize with people who stumble upon my stuff.
>first LP videos I watched were Starcraft 2 matches with Huskystarcraft
>related videos suggests me LAGTv
>watch them play Starcraft 2 with silly shenanigans
>get introduced to Minecraft thanks to their LP
>laugh a lot watching them play and tell stories
>subscribe to their LAGTV channels and their personal channels, follow Novawar (Adam) on twitter and facebook because he's a real bro
>watch his fit vlog
>actually feel like they are my friends
They were my first lets players and man, did I have some fun thanks to them
Then I started following other people, mostly guys that only streamed with no commentary
My last streamers were MoonMonkey, total smash bro, and Vinny and Joel, but I've never got that connection I felt to the LAGTV guys
>interested in a videogame's plot but don't really feel like playing it
>search for a playthrough
>first video
>"[GAME] LET'S PLAY! #1 IN THE WORLD! (GONE SEXUAL)
>20000000000000000000000000000 million views
>click it
>"HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY WHATSUUUUPGUYS ITSYABOY COOOOMINATCHAWITHANEW VIDEOOO"
>constantly talks over the characters
>annoying fucking laugh
>awful jokes about a serious moment in the plot
>"UUH WHAT DO I DO NOW?? UUH I'M SO LOST ACK ACK ACK WHAT DO I DO???"
>close it, search for another video
>"[Game] playthrough. Episode #1"
>click out of curiosity
>perfect quality, guy barely talks or doesn't talk, no sound of his reactions to the plot, no awful jokes, no annoying intros, just the fucking game
why?
I like watching the numbers slowly climb.. It's like grinding out RPG stats.
Boogie
Link your channel, user, I feel like watching gameplay videos
because thats boring. people watch for entertainment. If you don't want commentary just play the game
This guy knows whats up
>that one tight knit community for a small game where all the content creators know each other and watch each other's videos
I want to watch the fucking gameplay, not hear some fucking sperg constantly talk over the fucking thing I'm trying to listen to.
