WaW was the first instance of git gud i experienced. I couldnt beat veteran so I went to gamefaqs for some tips. some one basically said, "stop being bad at video games." it made sense, so the next time I played I cruised through all the levels and beat the game. just use mgs, explosives, and the flamethrower and dont stop moving forward. you will win

pssh, the only reason why veteran difficulty is hard on WaW is because the enemies keep throwing 10 grenades at you if you stay put at a cover for too long. It's artificial difficulty IMO

IMO, the good type of 'hard' is when it's not easy to to achieve a goal and that when you fail to reach your goal, the game should make you feel that it's my fault, not the game itself. WaW did a bad job at that.

My PS3 got the YLOD when I was just two levels away from beating the campaign on veteran difficulty. I was sooo close to getting that platinum trophy but there was no way in hell I'd go through all those grenade ridden levels again.

Anyone who thinks WaW veteran mode is a legitimate challenge is a fucking casual. Sure, there are lots of grenades, whatever the game is full of checkpoints. It’s a matter of trial and error until you reach the next checkpoint. It’s more unfair than it is challenging and even then, I’m sure just about anyone who knows how to play an fps could beat veteran mode within a day. New Doom is more challenging and isn’t just boring cover and insta kill shooting.
