Cause they are only okay at best

Because only half of them are decent.

sonic had 3 horrible titles and it became a meme to hate sonic

because Sup Forums wouldnt even know what a GBA is

Because they're good but still nowhere near the level of the Genesis Trilogy + Mania. Well actually they're all better than 1 and CD at least.

I don't agree with the CD part

Because it's still modern sonic design

I always do.

Attached: 1519841661177.png (1200x928, 1.14M)

Sonic Advance 1 is comfy as hell and a lot of fun but a little too easy
Sonic advance 2 is fun but there’s way too much boring boost sections
Sonic advance 3 is on par with advance 1 but also has more challenge so it’s probably the best of the three

However the special stages are truly horrible and that is saying something

7/10 series

Why Rush instead of Rush Adventure?

because the handheld games for the most part go against the narrative that all post-Adventure sonic is bad

INITIATING

RECOVERY MODE

Rush Adventure is generally considered inferior to Rush. I liked both but whatever.

Why did THQ publish a couple of those games?

>Rush Adventure is generally considered inferior to Rush.
By fucking who? Rush Adventure is better in every way.

Sonic Advance 1 is better than Sonic 1.
S3K>2>Mania>Advance>CD

I don't know, ask autistic fans.

I've never played Rush Adventure but Rush is fucking shit and by far the most overrated game in the series. The gameplay is trash, the art style looks like shit, and the level design is among the worst I have ever seen in a platformer.

Attached: 1519819288739.png (201x202, 27K)

Tried replaying the first Advance and Sonic's movement feels a lot more slippery than I remember.

Nah, your opinion is dicks.

There's no good sonic games.

>Blaze's gimmick is fucking lame and nowhere near as interesting or fluid as classic knux or tails
>fucking pig ugly DS 3D models for characters but sprites for anything else
>le bottomless pits everywhere
>boost shit
>terrible unskippable story
the only redeeming aspect of Rush is the soundtrack.

If fucking Advance 3 and Rush can be on there then Rush Adventure and Colors DS better fucking be there too, no ifs and or buts.

Attached: 1519841661177.png (1200x928, 1.55M)

Same reason why Deep Silver publishes at least some Sega/Atlus games today.

Nah, gameplay in Rush was fun. Nothing like the classics, but fun in its own way. It's the only game I've ever bothered with the Time Attack mode on.
The 3D models were as good as the DS could allow, but I agree sprites would've been better.

Advance 1 is ok, Advance 2 is easily the best of them all, Battle is bad but quirky and 3 is straight up shit
What's there to discuss?

>sonic battle

Attached: 1317563681824.jpg (177x278, 15K)

Why the fuck is Amy Rose so fucking cute?

Rush and maybe 1-2 of the GG titles are the only acceptable portable sanics.

Replaced Sonic Advance 2 (which fuggin' SUCKED) with the least awful 8-bit game.

Attached: fuckyouitlikedit.png (1200x928, 1.41M)

>Chaos is good
>Advance 2 sucks but Advance 3 doesn't

Attached: 1510010262659.png (403x448, 53K)

>DS and Game Gear Sonic games over the GBA ones
You're fucking retarded, m8.

Sonic Battle sequel when?

Attached: 1501677976597.png (1400x1400, 520K)

Why does anyone like Advance 3?

The OST was good but everyone handles like a tractor trailer compared to the first two

Sonic Advance 3 is only bad if you're playing with the wrong team.

never ever ever ever :(

The "correct" team combination doesn't fix the shit level design, enemy & trap placement and the fucked up physics.

we can only dream

Attached: DLY7eMAV4AEJ87X.jpg (1630x1080, 349K)

The only actually good game there is the first Sonic Advance.

Sonic Advance 1 was decent, but the levels were pretty unoriginal.
Sonic Advance 2 was boost to win.
Sonic Advance 3 was too gimmicky about the team gameplay, and still a bit boost to win.
Sonic Battle was fun.

Sonic is definitely harder to control in Advance, Tails and Knuckles are much better to control, and Amy is just weird

Alright Sup Forums you can choose one level of the Advance series to get in the next Mania, which one you choose?

Still a better list than the one of adventurefag, kek

Why wasn't Triple Trouble on Master System.
I keep hearing it's the best of the bunch but I can't see it behind that awful Game Gear resolution.
They skipped it in favor of Sonic BLAST. Why?

Attached: sonic blast my ass.jpg (350x495, 76K)

None, no more returning zones.

sanic pocket adventure is better than advance series.

Egg rocket, despite the level design being mediocre and unfair, I like the idea of climbing a rocket that is detaching its modules. The music was good too. And I liked the sunset background.

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1920x1080, 148K)

I only played 2, and I only remember bottomless pits. EVERY LEVEL IS BOTTOMLESS PITS!
One level is in the sky, but what's the difference? Oh, you can fall in this level? You mean, just like every level?

Pocket Adventure is hipster crap.

Pocket Adventure is an overrated piece of shit that's literally just a butchered conversion of Sonic 2 with new bosses. That's it.

because it goes against the narrative

this is loss

Not him, I unironically enjoy pocket adventure more than the advance series. It's Sonic2 with Sonic 3&K music, but it's fun to play, and ti has its own charm.
I also like the puzzle pieces, they encourage exploring the stages.

Just because they're 2D doesn't automatically mean they're good. They're cheap, they're ugly, the gameplay feels stiff, and it suffers from awful, repetitive stage design that relies on ramps, boost pads, and hold right to win. They're fine diversions as far as portable Sonic games go, but they aren't in the same league as any of the Genesis titles.

>the Advance games
>ugly
What a brainlet. The visuals are the only consistently great thing about that trilogy.

It is closer to sanic 2 physics than the advances, they play like clunky shit.

Sega needs to revamp what made the advance series cool for the next new sonic game
>a more interactive chao garden that doesn't involve waiting for hours to evolve and it has minigames that are engaging and not just "push A sometimes and watch"
>a select few POLISHED characters that all add something mildly different and if they have amy, bring back her interaction with springs and her hammer
>don't force replay to 100% it and don't make the special stage so fucking aids once you get there
>A better team system that doesn't punish specific partner comps by gutting basic abilities and is mostly optional
>good level design, music doesn't need to pander to genesis twang fags or edm millenials entirely, the rest of the expected shit ya know?
boom. Sonic is back. hes fucking saved. Nah, just kidding, fuck you. Here's classic sonic, except you need to spin dash up a fucking street curb.

Attached: 1512849973723.jpg (499x383, 37K)

Toxic nostalgia has poisoned so much of both the creative output of recent memory as well as the actions of real life in general. It's unpleasant, but hopefully something we can recognize and deal with in time.

Sonic's been back and saved for months now, slowfag.

Attached: Sonic Mania Title Screen.png (424x240, 19K)

Running into spikes and getting crushed all the time isnt fun
I shouldn't need to memorize level design to have fun in that level, it needs to flow and reward good reactions in a positive way.
not just "you pushed A before the crushing spikes, you get to keep playing. Also come back to this spot with knuckles just this one time, faggot"

Mania is garbage. Half of the content is rehashed and one of the new levels is an autoscroller. The game tried too hard to please fans.

Mania was produced by fans, Sega and Sonic team are still struggling to understand what makes games fun at all.
Did you not hear about sonic forces, slowfag?

Instead of remixing levels everyone has played a million times, they should take the competition mode stages from S3&K and flesh them out into full two-act zones.

Who gives a shit about Sonic Team when Mania Team is confirmed to continue coming back for more projects, snailfag?

By far Chaos Angel, not for the stage, but for the music.

youtu.be/AY6WjFf0D6w

This deserves a proper remake

If not that, then music plant for the stage theme.

Attached: sloop.jpg (649x621, 42K)

Chaos Angel is one of the most kino last zones in all of Sonic
>Angel Island turned into a robot infested temple of doom
>Ominous sky in the background outside of the temple areas
>That fucking music
>Big showdown with Eggman at the Master Emerald's altar

Advance 1 is the best. It feels like a genuine, "modernised" Sonic game. The level design is not as good as the originals' and the controls are admittedly a bit stiff, but overall it was a very very solid game.

Advance 2 felt less stiff but also suffered from hold right to win syndrome. The levels were more vibrant than 1 but worse to play overall with all the boost pads shit. Also some levels (particularly the musical one) felt like they belonged in a Mario game rather than a Sonic game. It's the second best game.

Advance 3 was just a mess, the level design is all over the shop so that each "team" has different stuff to do but since you can only bring one team at a time you end up spending most of the levels not being able to do most of the things in the level. While I do appreciate it for being a better take on the team gameplay than Sonic Heroes - since at least the teams gave you OPTIONS, unlike SH which boiled down to "Use Speed here, now use Power, now Speed again, now Flight, etc" - it was still overall the weakest link. The interactions between characters were cute though (ie. Sonic looking all glum if you partnered him with Amy).

Battle was just fucking kino, it was basically Sonic Smash Brothers but fucking PORTABLE. It was also the first time most of these characters appeared as sprites, so it was a fucking treasure trove for young me to rip sprites from and make shitty platformers in Klik & Play.

They ALL have the fucking worst special stages though. And the "you have to collect the Emeralds as every character to unlock the final boss" mechanic is straight up fucking DOGSHIT on top of that. This alone makes the games worse for replays because fuck ever trying to actually get all those things again.

Actions of real life? What do you mean by that?

I love Hideki but Rush Adventure had a better soundtrack

>"you have to collect the Emeralds as every character to unlock the final boss"
was only in Advance 2.

Because people have bad taste. All those games are excellent. 2>=3

Speaking of bad taste.

>Chaos Angel had one of the most hype tracks in series
>It's for a platform riding stage

Wasn't Cyber track in a similar situation? I never understood a lick of what I was doing on that stage until the boss.

>Mania Team is confirmed to continue coming back for more projects
Really?

>Battle was just fucking kino, it was basically Sonic Smash Brothers but fucking PORTABLE. It was also the first time most of these characters appeared as sprites, so it was a fucking treasure trove for young me to rip sprites from and make shitty platformers in Klik & Play.

Not to mention it had a great story as far as Sonic games go.

They're gonna reveal fucking Mania Project Plus this Friday. If that doesn't tell you that Sega recognizes Mania's immense success and is actually acting on it then i don't know what to tell you.

One act 3 is platform riding. Still a waste.

Yes. Iizuka knows he’s stuck wrangling retards at Sonic Team and wants Sonic to succeed at least somewhat.

There's an unofficial fan port of it, haven't played it myself but I could imagine it's alright judging by the GG version

Oh I'm not the user you were talking to. I was genuinely hyped at the idea of a new Mania Team project but I didn't read anything about it anywhere.
He's still in time to redeem himself.

t. someone whose never played any of the classic titles

Less so that the others, but it's still great and it actually tries some interesting things unlike 1. Memeing and exaggerating about one of the few ways a Sonic game can actually be made challenging doesn't get you much credit, and the levels are in fact extremely open and accommodating for all team types without forcing your hand or having multiple paths accessible through momentum suffering for it.

I doubt Iizuka will get his redemption unless the team is reloaded with people that know what they’re doing. On a conceptual level Forces has potential but he had 2 people that had never designed levels for Sonic before and a massive lack of time for all the things he wanted to do with the game.

>if I downplay the major faults then the game's not shit
Nice one, faggot, but you're not fooling anyone.

Why did they have to ruin sonic battle?
The actual game has so much potential, but the story mode is so repetitive and grinding for moves sucks since you get so many shitty dupes. Having to fight the same dude twice in story mode also hurt.
Launching someone then dashing to them just to slam them down is so damn fun.
Too bad the AI perfect block everything that isn't a specific move. The story mode is just spam R until they die, spam air R until they die, spam R until they die.
Shit like putting you against 3 gammas when you are weak as emerl, or the sonic and shadow tag team fight at the end, like wtf man. How did they soil it so hard. Its fun, but I would NEVER replay it.
I honestly tried to revisit it, and I had no fucking clue how I beat it as a kid. the sonic and shadow fight feels like luck.

Should be made by arc system works or some other competent studio

I have. Go back and play them today. They don't hold up.

fucking CD hipsters are the absolute worst

the game is garbage

Says you. They’re the one part of the franchise that hasn’t aged like milk.

>Go back and play them today.
Not him but I do that every year, multiple times even and fuck yeah they do hold up. Guarantee that you don't like them because you suck shit at them.

Sonic 1 is better than cd in my opinion however, the soundtrack is pretty great but, that is to be expected from a sonic game

Ok my default response is because they are good but not great and 3 sucks ass, but today I am going to replay it after years.

"major faults" being what? That people have bad reactions in a Sonic game? I can only think of one or two parts where the pits were actually badly placed and that's a matter of them not being signposted rather than their existence. The game's real problems aren't in level design, on the contrary the amount they were able to take into consideration with the game's levels is incredible. But since for some reason Sonic games are never allowed to have any kind of challenge or people start crying, so they cry about this.

>Too bad the AI perfect block everything that isn't a specific move
You do know how the special move selection works right? The type you don't pick is one you autoblock, and when the AI dies it often changes its picks to counter you.

Advance is Good
2 and 3 are proto boostshit but still alright
Battle is garbage

Attached: 1516277655002.jpg (1024x929, 163K)

>3
>Proto boostshit
You are stupid as fuck. 3 is often shitted on exactly for being the complete opposite of "rush to the end" gameplay.
