I think the consensus is the genre itself is fun but all modern racing games are shit.

I think the 7th gen was the last good generation for racing games.

but motorstorm was terrible

I like NFS Payback and Forza Horizon 3 but MUH LOOTBOXES on the former and EW, MICROSOFT on the latter.

>No real sequel to Motorstorm: Pacific Rift (we can pretend Apocalypse didn't happen)
>Evolution is fucking dead
Feels bad man

I'm playing Forza 7 right now. It's okay. I'm not a car autist so a lot of the stuff goes over my head but it's an decent enough game

>Apocalypse was shit

Hooboy.

The first game or the whole series?

who remembers pgr?

Attached: pgr3.jpg (3218x2157, 330K)

> Retards ignore Forza because it's not Sony
You were supposed to have Win10 PCs, at least that's what I've heard in Xbox threads.

I was specifically thinking of the first game, I never played the sequel but the original was dreadful
I vaguely remember it, was probably average otherwise I'd remember it better

Well it requires Windows 10 as a UWP game.

motorstorm pacific rift is such a great game. it's a shame that they let the series die.

They should make a new Motorstorm and remove Undertale from the PS store.

There just hasn't been anything interesting I guess.

While Pacific Rift was better there was absolutely nothing wrong with Apocalypse.

Forza and the like literally sell millions, what even is this thread

Hell even the new NFS probably sells millions and they reboot that shit literally every year

What happened to racing games after all?

Attached: 1483155766217.jpg (979x832, 440K)

Why do you need to reboot a racing game?

I didn't like how the vehicles performed in the demo, and didn't they make it so new vehicles had to be unlocked by playing online? (which is probably dead now)

theres this. it says that its by the devs of motorstorm and driveclub.
but its console only so who cares

Attached: jpg[1].jpg (600x338, 34K)

But apparently everyone has it.
Seeing a faggot saying HURR DURR NO DRIVING GAMES while posting Motorstorm is like a bait.

MT5 instantly revived my interest in racing games. It was made playable just a few days ago

>I think the consensus is the genre itself is fun but all modern racing games are shit
yea, this.

Currently playing Rocket League. It's not a "racer", but it's fucking fun. you need to git gud though

no im still mad this or blur didn't get a sequel

Attached: 250px-Split_Second_Velocity_EU_Cover.jpg (250x306, 25K)

But Apocalypse was great fun as splitscreen multiplayer

This absolutely deserved a sequel IF THEY WERE GOING TO END ON A FUCKING CLIFFHANGER.

Fuckin' Disney.

wow. driving in a straight line for 10 minutes. great game

>by the devs of motorstorm and driveclub.
into the trash it goes

Ask EA

Kind of sad to see arcade racers aren't being made anymore.

i'll fuck you up

I might be misremembering but all vehicle classes were unlocked from the start and the only thing you unlocked from playing online was paint jobs and alternate skins. Most of the vehicles fine, I think they just picked the worst ones for the demo (Supercars IIRC, which was the objectively worst class until a balance patch halfway through the game’s lifetime).

It’s a shame it effectively flopped just because of a natural disaster.

Honestly, if you want the best online racing experience, download the multiplayer fix for this.

Attached: 105196.jpg (256x363, 58K)

everyone want muh realism bullshit

it's coming to pc "at a later date" (as usual)
yeah i've been playing it too, it's really fun
too bad about save not working
he posted the second chapter of story mode on a really easy track on lowest speed
the game's fun look up some gameplay

I'm sorry but it really was. It was barebones as fuck, what kind of racing game doesn't even have local play? the tracks just blend together and there weren't that many of them to begin with, and the whole game was just about when to use your boost. It's genuinely one of the worst racing games I've ever played.

I'm looking forward to this. Seems like a Sega Rally throwback.
I also buy the yearly release of WRC because I enjoy off-road driving and they're only getting better with each year.

>mfw this game transmits sound coming from from the PSEye microphone without any notice
>got a message from someone telling me to turn my shit music off
my face was red for a week

>play the shit out of forza in high school with friends
>slowly transition to pc
>still buy xbox one just for forza
>find forza 7 is coming to pc
>HYPE
>looks like it's a good port, well optimized
>MORE HYPE
>buy the ultimate VIP pack for 90 bucks
>windows game installer is ass and it takes me like 2 hour to get it started
>it will all be worth it
>finally get it up and running to find out income rates are much smaller in single player
> play enough to get some lobby cars together for online
>try to play online with buddy only to find out the game won't connect to it's own servers
>spend literal days working on this
>finally figure out i get a brief window of online if a reset a few things in startup
>online is completely gutted and has convoluted class requirements instead of just the letters.
>worst of all you can't even set up a proper private lobby with AI cars for no real reason
>they remain silent on fixing any of these issues

dropped it after 2 weeks

Me like fighting game! Man go punch punch down!

It's already out you know

The racing genre died along with Bizarre Creations. PGR is the peak of arcade racing that will truly never be reached again.
They got fucked over by some big company but have been nice enough to grace us with Geometry Wars 3.

Play GTSport for online
online is actually good there

does it have customizable AI in the lobbys? we made up about 5 games for forza but it requires you to pick cars for each AI player to make them work

Well I'm looking forward to purchasing it then.

>Spiritual successor to Motorstorm
>Made by the most of the devs from Evolution after Codemasters picked nearly every one of them up after getting shut down
>Coming to PC eventually

I like it

I hope Onrush gets a Switch port.

im glad sims filter out casual shit like you in the first 5 minutes
you should be able to enjoy both ends of the racing vidya spectrum so long as the game is good, like dirt rally or blur

holy shit

Attached: 1492166076094.gif (480x270, 1.47M)

>implying i don't like both
I mean that every game goes for realism and not burnout tier of "fun"

>E3 last year
>watching the Microsoft press conference
>they start showing this racing game
>some track in NYC
>oh my god
>Red Ferrari racing
>OH MY GOD IT'S ANOTHER PROJE-
>Forza 7 title plays

I'M SO FUCKING SICK OF SHITTY FORZA
GOD DAMN IT

Absolutely loved the fuck out of PGR series. is spot on, the arcade racing genre died with Blizzard Creations.

Now it's a monopoly of Forza and Gran Turismo going at eachother while virtually every other racer is non-existent or gets very little support.
It fucking sucks man

i don't understand
"burnout tier of fun"?

Attached: dx_denton_food.jpg (1920x1080, 340K)

DiRT series is still fun. It's not *just* Forza and GT

actual gameplay here
it looks good but i'm worried because they say it's not actually a "racing" game

>Lots of cars racing to be first
>not racing
??

>Lots of cars racing to be first
that's the thing, they're not racing to be first
it's some weird 6v6, points based thing
i was really disappointed when i heard about it

>We certainly want to appeal to our MotorStorm fans, and it has been one of our influences, but ONRUSH is much broader and deeper in potentially more surprising ways. ONRUSH is indeed a team-based racer, where the focus is on what you do in moment-to-moment with your chosen class of vehicle to score points for your team, instead of just racing towards a finish line.

google.com/amp/s/amp.trueachievements.com/n31787/color-splashes-and-epic-crashes-interview-with-onrush-director-paul-rustchynsky

.. but you get points by being first, right?
Codemaster pls

Fuck. How does it work solo then?
Multiplayer shit really is the cancer of gaming.

the objectives seem to be class specific (there's 8 classes, 2 for each type of vehicle)
so maybe some of them get points for being in a good position?

Attached: 1519837579908.jpg (531x531, 20K)

Can we agree that Customization (not Upgrade Systems) increases Play time? because you have no idea on what to make it into

Onrush looks to have potential as a PR2. I hope it doesn't suck a big D

>he plays racing games in automatic

Attached: 1513719524715.png (624x581, 48K)

Because Underground babies literally never stop crying.

>repping the default USA skin against FRAs, GERs and Russian-ported NFS cars

Artic edge > Pacific rift >momentum valley >apocalypse

not my screenshot, i'm EU like every other trackmania player :^)

Attached: 234521235456.png (1356x762, 2.39M)

Fun racing games died out for some reason. Now all we have left are simulators or simlike arcade racers with boring flat and stiff handling.

Where are all the next-gen Insane, Flatout and NFSU2 games? You know, actually fun games where cars feel like they have moving parts and aren't just bricks sliding across a surface?

>aren't just bricks sliding across a surface
>NFS Underwallriding 2

look harder

EA killed the genre with most wanted 2012

you've obviously never played Iracing

If it doesn't have the mud deformation that stays, then it's fucking trash.

1sane was the most entertaining shit on LAN to bad its a cult game and its faded away with time.

Rest in Piece !sane you will be dearly missed.

Redout and GRIP.

I miss arcade racers i'm tired of car porn racing, I just want to go stupidly fast and rice a car to point to where it's unrecognizable

Attached: 1505861749604.png (750x1009, 1.03M)

how can an eight year old racing sim with a monthly subscription possibly be fun?

>GRIP

FINISHED GAME WHEN

Did you try Redout? Its not really about cars but you get to fly/hover in greater than 1000kmh speeds and it looks reaaally nice in high frames.

There has been a recent resurgence in AGracing, and that is all I care about.

people mentioned a bunch of games like that on this thread
trackmania: both good for casual racing and autistic time attack + track builder
redout: fast, fun unique physics
wangan midnight: drift game, like ridge racer but the car doesn't automatically go around corners

>wangan drift
Not in Steam? Not on PC? Never heard about this game.

>I never played the sequel but the original was dreadful
Motorstorm: Pacific Rim was a much better game. Apocalypse kinda jumped the shark, but was also fairly solid

arcade game that runs on pc hardware see for instructions

Attached: wangan.webm (800x450, 2.9M)

Anyone else enjoy Fuel? I unironically loved the racing even if the rubber banding was insane and it was so good to get high and just drive aimlessly for hours.

because it's super realistic, you need a steering wheel tho.

Was thinking about the same. And some muh Japanese dialogue in the middle of the game.

I'm amazed at how even after years of playing them I never got tired of Trackmania games. They're are so simple on the surface, yet once you really get into them it feels like you always have something new to learn, some new technique, shortcut or optimized line.

>*GAS GAS GAS intensifies*

>tfw high speed drifting in canyon's narrow curves without bumping

Bullshit. GTSport is great.

any good racing games? like NFS back in the most wanted days (upgradeable, customizable cars, free roam)? is the new NFS any good? i played the last one and it satiated my need but it wasnt great

I'm the only one that enjoy playing this with motion controls? Does it turn on some assist or I'm just good playing it with my feet?

Track Mania is just an ersatz of racing. If you don't have to overtake an opponent you're not racing.

>playing casual garbage
If the game is playable with a pad and does not require a wheel with full pedals and a H shifter then it isn't worth your time. All those other games feel like your driving a RC car around a track.
