Won't work because they won't have interesting enough content to fill the map with. It's what happened when Bethesda transitioned from doing small areas like Vvardenfell to doing Cyrodiil.

Far Cry 4's map was already the limit.
I was still autistic enough to do everything but I won't do that again.
I think Far Cry Primal's map was fine in terms of size (roughly half of 4's map) but then the game only had like half the content of normal Far Cry games so it was still too big.

Depends on the game. Sometimes I can't do it, like if I think I'd be missing out on something, which is why usually I finish the main game before doing this. With Soulsborne games it's simple since there's no music. I like to always leave the game audio on at some low amount.
