ITT: Games that deserve a sequel but will never get one
my nigga
I only played Custom Robo DS and I really enjoyed it. The GC one wasn't released in my region, unfortunately, so I never got to play it. It seems like the kind of game I would have snatched up off the shelf as a kid, with coverart like that.
I thought it was already announced?
all 3 games to be honest, I just another swordcraft story game
>series with three games
>no sequel
Not that I know of. I remember the rumors about the idol/music company, but nothing official has been announced. I suspect the chances of it getting a Switch port are about 50/50. But A sequel is probably slim to none at this point.
Honestly, I'm not even sure how I ended up owning it as a kid. I don't have any memories of it being bought or gifted, and it seems niche enough that I don't think my siblings would have ever been interested in it.
Post games that don't need sequels
I will never forgive Konami.
playing this just a week or to back, it's one of the few games where I barley touch story mode because the other mode is so much fun
Is not basically each Vanillaware game a sequel to the last even if they're separate IPs?
I understand they're all fundamentally similar in core construction.
They just have similar gameplay/beat em up style.
but it did user, it was only on Playstation Mobile.
The service has been discontinued so you can't download it no more.
There's some overlap between Muramasa and Odin Sphere's playstyle, but they're still different.
Dragon's Crown is essentially Capcom's Dungeon and Dragons arcadde game part 3.
Dragon's crown has the best gameplay of them all
>movement akin to golden axe
>multiple different classes
>sofa co-op
Add more variety into talents and more levels and I'd buy 10 of 'em
Well then if you crave that then shouldn't their upcoming game be enough to scratch the itch?
Does it have to have the Dragon's Crown setting?
Also, would someone who hasn't ever played a beat-em-up for an extended period enjoy Dragon's Crown? I'm thinking of getting it when the PS4 version comes out because I've heard so many good things.
it's prolly singleplayer
I feel like Super Metroid has never had a true sequel.
Last Window
I can't believe this hasn't been ported to PS4 but Flower, Journey, Unfinished Swan were
Zero Mission is quite good. Though no game has really captured the atmosphere of Super, I think. It's basically Metroid with better graphics, and all the games after took a slightly different approach to the "throw you down a pit and let your find your way out" style of the first three games.
Vanillaware's new game looks to be some kind of RTS or TBS with some social sim thrown in, very different to their usual stuff.
Side scrolling beat em ups like Final Fight or Golden Axe are fucking rare nowadays, there was basically nothing for ages until Dragon's Crown, except maybe that Scott Pilgrim game and there will probably be nothing for a while after.
Definetly worth it though.
kotor
Prime 1 is basically a 3D first person Super Metroid.
Prime I love, but I wouldn't say it's similar to Super Metroid. Certainly the exploration is there, but it's far less focused on groping in the dark. Except for that one part where you literally grope in the dark.
PS4 open world sequel never
Just market it like MH World Kaz you fuck
>I understand they're all fundamentally similar in core construction.
You are mistaken.
Odin Sphere was recently re-released with an all new combat system to bring it more in line with Dragon's Crown, but originally they were quite different.
Muramasa is more different still, constantly switching movesets as you swap out weapons when they break not unlike a Way of the Samurai game.
Grand Knights History is a JRPG.
GrimGrimoire is a gosh darned RTS.
And what the heck even is Kumatanchi? Some sort of cute girls doing cute things enabler.
Rainworld felt the closest to the feels TokyoJungle rolled around.
THIS! Scrap the whole MonHun-wannabe thing and do a SS sequel more in the vein of Dragon's Dogma or HZD. Shit could be great.
Suikoden 5
Nothing would get me more immediately hyped than watching E3 and suddenly seeing Lil Pom on the big screen
I'm talkin' YouTube reaction video levels of excitement
