The best Sword Art Online is literally anything that isn't Sword Art Online. Prove me wrong.

It's this one.

Log Horizon is also trash like SAO.

This one.

Silica. Sugu gets second place and then Sinon.

I never said it wasn't. I was implying it's a higher level of trash than SAO, just like literally everything else in existence.

The double mole goddess.

Curious, how is it trash? I've never watched it, but my friend keeps hyping it up like it's the best anime ever.

First season starts promising, but then falls off pretty hard.
It switched from people adventuring to politics and never recovered from that.
Second season was even less interesting.

>SAO is the worst anime ever
Where did this start? I've watched SAO, and it's not the worst, it's just your average "seasonal trash" anime. If SAO was new today, no one would bat an eye and everyone would probably think "Oh, it's just another shitty isekai/video game anime. Throw it in the pile along with that smartphone one, the one with the ribbon boob girl, Overlord, or that one where some guy meets his waifu offline."

Asuna.

I absolutely hate this series ever since it shattered my hopes and dreams but Fatal bullet looked kinda fun. Is it worth playing if you hate everything about the lore? Any games similar to it?

Fuka
>Domo domo!

Everyone's been saying it's basically a spiritual sequel to freedom planet, so if you liked that I'd wager you'll like FB too.

First season (arc?)starts out nice, starts mucking about with filler, then springs the ending on you because they couldn't be assed to actually finish the thing.
The second arc has some cool individual moments, but they are pieced together awkwardly.

Unironically watch the abridged series. It's actually a better show than the original, and not just because of dumb memes.

SAO and LH are very similar when it comes to criticism.
>both both protags are super nerds that end up surrounded by pussy at some point
>both had great early episodes full of potential but both decided to throw said potential away and focus on something else
>both have story arcs that not even the most hardcore fans enjoyed (LH's season 2, SAO's Fairy Dance)
And other stuff that, as valid as they possibly are, will make you think "but that is just how animu is" (entry-level stuff always have to deal with that).

Because in all honesty, the anime would have been mediocre and passable if it didn't shooting a giant fucking enormous hole into it's own premise and tension 1/2 way through the first season. Otherwise it would have been just fine. Every season after that works so hard to contradict it's own premise at times it's baffling. Trashy stuff like Log Horizon at least stuck with what it was trying to peddle you and didn't decide shooting itself in the face was a great idea.

>switched from people adventuring to politics
I have shit taste, so that's what I enjoyed about it.

Yeah, sort of. Fatal bullets removes Freedom Wars's emphasis on fighting giant monsters and hacking away at their body parts/weapons in favor of fighting enemies more human sized (although larger enemies do exist). And even though melee wasn't very important in a lot of the endgame stuff, it still had it's uses in FW. FB puts more emphasis on the gunplay and shooting. I've found melee to be near useless (especially without any lock-on targeting). Also, FW had a Zelda-like hook shot that could heal/make barriers/stun enemies/let you stick to walls. FB give you the hook shot, but instead of letting you do all the aforementioned stuff, all it does is pull you to wherever you shot it, and that's it. You don't even get to stick to the wall or ceiling if you want, you immediately jump off. Also, FB doesn't have a "true" PvP like FW. in FB, PvP is two teams fighting a monster, and the team that does the most damage wins.

The same could be said about stuff like Seinfeld. Timing is everything.

This might be nostalgia speaking because I grew up watching seinfeld, but I disagree with you.

that samurai guy doesn't deserve to be in such a shit anime series

What was the animescape like in 2013 that made SAO's timing significant? That was around the period where I stopped watching anime for a while.

Kiriko a best

>Where did this start?
on Sup Forums while it was airing
>If SAO was new today, no one would bat an eye
Well it has been 6 years since it airead - back then the "isekai" genre was not really a own genre on its own.

That's exactly why, you get triggered because it's popular despite it being average and your autism can't accept that fact.

Abridged Asuna.

>back then the "isekai" genre was not really a own genre on its own.
Nah, isekai was always a genre and there were a ton of anime before SAO.
It's just normies made SAO popular.

I don't remember the word "isekai" being used at all back then - it was mostly just classified as fantasy. But I give you the benefit of the doubt if you say it was a japan only thing back then

SAO is neither as good or better as anyone would have you believe. It's an okay show with some great moments and some shit ones. When it aired most people fell into one of two camps: loving SAO or hating SAO. But then Digibro came along and ranted about SAO for like 4 videos or something and all of a sudden it became "cool" to hate it. Now that that was is dying down, and the series is going through lengths to try and fix some of it's shortcomings, people are realizing again that SAO isn't that bad.

good or bad*

>still shilling shitty fanfic

Literally the lewdest bunny suits I have ever seen in my life.

crunchyroll and streaming started becoming big and the VR meme started. also people watching anime usually like vidya.
a combination of all of the above basically made Sao big enough to be remembered today

The original cg had Silica's legs bare too.

Man, I'd kill for a pork bun now.

This girl right here.

If all we're talking about is "anime where main characters are trapped it/go to another world", I wouldn't say it was a genre until SAO made the idea popular.
>Digimon
>Zero no Tsukaima
>Rayearth
>Now and Then, Here and There
>Spider Riders (was this even a Japanese anime or was it one of those "western" anime?)
>I think I remember this one yaoi one about a guy who became a king because of having black hair or something

>best bro AND you can fuck him because he's an 11/10 girl
Why is he such perfect gary sue holy shit.

>every goddamn girl in SAO including Kirito is better than Asuna by legendary terms

Can someone explain me how Japan keeps fuckin up every single one of their main heroines? Asuna can't even compete with the rest of the waifus anymore.

SAO helped set the trend for all the self-insert, wish fulfillment, haremshit with rpg elements that we get today.

Well that's simple. Asuna's entire character exists solely to be Kirito's onahole. Every other girl has some sort of characterization and a distinct personality. Asuna, like all heroines in the genre, has a single purpose, and that is to be in love with the MC and ultimately be the recipient of MC's love.

>self-insert, wish fulfillment, haremshit with rpg elements
I'll give you the RPG elements thing, but haven't wish fullfillment, haremshit, self insert anime been popular since Love Hina?

>can't cuck Kirito
What a shitty game

The cousin with the fat tits and shot hair
