Kiryu section was really fun, shame about what comes after though.

While it's true that 5 does has fuckload of shit to do. I hardly anyone claim it's the best. Hell you're more likely to people like 3 most then those who say 5 is the best one.

Some play for the story, some play for the beat em up gameplay, some play for the substories and some play just for the large amount of shit there is to do.

People who play for story tend to say Y5 is terrible, people who play for content tend to say it's one of the best. Both are valid.

Well the side-content is what makes the games so great, so I reckon most of the hate comes from newcomers who started with 4 who were annoyed they had to do Saejima's jailbreak again, and that Akiyama got shoehorned into Haruka's story.

5 is still my personal favorite.

Zero is probably the only entry next to the original that didn't have a completely retarded story. Unfortunately 6 goes back to being retarded.

I enjoy the stories of 2, 0 and 1 quite a bit, but I still enjoy all the other aspects of the franchise.
My point was more that there are people that absolutely despise the story whereas I'm indifferent to it at worst.

Yakuza 2, 3 and 4 make it very obvious that Majima's nutball shtick is just an act. He's shown on several occasions that he's fully capable of behaving like a normal person.

I'm playing through it right now for the first time, still Kiryu but from what I've experienced so far I like it more than 4. It is much closer to 0 / Kiwami in terms of how it plays and I like the new area. Should have gotten a PS4 port but whatever, it's still a pretty good showing for the PS3.

If Y0 is overrated, then Yakuza series is simply not good.

I honestly liked them at the time it just felt weird he went from this crazy guy to being so much more tame. 0 definitely gave me a lot more appreciation for him in those games though, 3/4 Majima is probably version of him now.

K2 hate was a bit over the top, it sucks that Shinseicho was removed but the music was fine, not as good as the original though.

Overrated as fuck. Gun completely ruins combat, and the sword combat itself just isn't fun. The sword dance shit also looks absolutely retarded. Very nice environments though.

Well i am not one of those people. Yakuza Ishin, 0 and 2 might be my favorites(equally) but I still think 1,4,5,6, Kiwami, and the PSP games are amazing and aren't considerably worse. 3 is a special case because it had a lot of content cut. Still a good game otherwise. Dead Souls though is shit and will always be shit in my opinion.

If she was in 0 and developed her a bit more or gave her screen time, I probably would be a bit upset over her death in 1.

I'm playing through 5 as well and am at the same point, I just finished 4 a few days ago and 5 feels so much better to me. It does have too many playable characters coming up though so it may get way worse.

Ishin is great, I played through it a few months ago. Would buy it a second time if SEGA localized it.

I actually only finished 4 recently too, honestly I was tuning out for most of it. Only really started to enjoy it at Tanimura, but I did enjoy the last part of the game at least. So far I'm definitely enjoying 5 better so it will be interesting to see what happens with the others.

5 is my favorite because of all the content. I love these games because of how much there is to do in them. If you hate 5, them I feel bad for you. Also, Kiryu dodged a rocket like it was a slight inconvenience.

Of the games I've played so far I'd rate 4 the lowest but I haven't finished 5 yet. Maybe if I hadn't played 0, Kiwami, and Ishin before it I would have enjoyed it more but it took a long time just to play as Kiryu.
