Because Destiny was an insane thing that happened. How they cocked it up so bad, then fixed it, then promised over and over to never cock it up again, then proceeded to cock it up twice as bad with D2, and THEN DOUBLED DOWN on cocking it up further. Just.. nuts. And they lost so many players and so much good faith with anyone that did care. It was just nuts.

Destiny 2 updates are happening, the game isn’t close to being dead.

I'm so disappointed.

Destiny 1 started off real bad but i got better and by Year 3 it was genuinely a good game. When D2 released the fan base thought that Bungie had learned something but everything's back to square one.

They're selling you the same fucking game with the same release schedule. They arent making the game better just removing everything Destiny 1 had at its end and rereleasing it.

That's been Bungie's business model ever since Microsoft bought them and forced them to make nothing but Halo allowing every other property to rot.
The ability to do anything else long since left them, its basically a dead brand being paraded around to kids who grew up on the xbox.

Considering they wanted Trials and Competitive to be their hype ESPORTS TWITCH STREAMING thing that's pathetic numbers, to say nothing of the game's dying presence on the platform it's supposedly designed for.

And all the shit they changed for the above fucked over the PvE that the rest of the playerbase came for.

At this point I'd argue your statement is more accurate to Destiny 1 than 2. At least they fixed that by end-of-life.

You don't just scrap everything, then reuse the exact same assests only to start at square 1. They had everything built up in working condition then said fuck it lets do it again.

Destiny was my shit. Yes it had flaws but it was pretty much my hobby. now i wander from game to game but nothing fills the void

I understand why everyone dropped it though, shit's got barely any content and to make up for that, Bungo made getting anything a massive fucking grind.
I grinded for over a hundred hours to get every Exotic, and it's required because of the way the game is structured, that shit's ridiculous. When I was basically done with the game, I decided to spend my time making the best looking set I could with the stats I wanted, and that took another couple dozen hours of grinding because getting mods is fucking retarded.

The gameplay is on point, but the writing is awful, many of the level designs are awful, and the structure around grinding is fucking dumb.

I'm probably gonna go back to it again once they drop the next DLC though like I did with Osiris because I can't help myself.

I'm excited for the next dlc only because of the reaction it'll get across the internet. This thing has to be great if they want to get even a quarter of their launch player base back.

It goes both ways really. MS wants to best dead horses and would be better off letting these studios alternate between your tired franchise and something fresh. Gears and Halo teams should've started new IP. Not keep reopening the rotting carcasses of games that should've ended after their trilogy.

It will probably add nothing new other than a area and the bosses and enemies will the same shit you already fought.

I'll bet they just give us the old Destiny 1 planets and areas with some minor tweaks and a shitty excuse to run back and forth between them.

I would actually consider picking the game back up if they added all the stuff in destiny 1 to the game.

I will never understand how people can defend this company. The story is shit and could have been over in 5 minutes if the antagonist actually did what he did at the end. Everybody quips to the point where I don't feel anything about the genocide that happened days ago. Cayde got butchered. The exotics are shitty as all hell. In fact I think there is literally one good exotic armor in the game. Most of them decrease the cooldown on your abilities, which is fucking boring considering what Destiny 1 had. The armor designs also look like shit. I no longer look like space marine, I look like a fucking WoW character with these big ass shoulder pads. The exotic weapons are ass as well. I just want my Zhalo but no have a shitty gun that does nothing unless you are fighting certain enemies.

On top of this the content is shitty and repetitive. Why anyone sees themselves playing the same scripted missions over and over is beyond me. And they only allow you to do it once a week, which is fucking stupid. Then they added a bunch of filler content that nobody does for the sole purpose of being able to say they added new content, even though none of it actually matters after you hit a certain point.

This all happened because Bungie banked on the theory that catering to esports would help the game's longevity, so they balanced the entire fucking game around PvP. They balanced a game hyped soley based on its PvE, around PvP. That alone fucking doomed this game.

I could forgive them for this but let's face it the new writers are shitty Marvel writers and the devs are so far up their own ass that they think waiting a year to change things (changes they don't even go into detail about) will do the game justice while the team that worked on Destiny 2 are already rushing Destiny 3 to get this series over with.

It didn't help that bungie ruined the most loyal part of their fanbase by breaking the entire community section of b.net about a year before Destiny launched.

They never really fixed it and every group that had kept the place going in the year+ of no news literally just died.

Not only that, they unofficially scrapped most of the lore and background for the game as well by doing away with grimoire. Im sure they realized after Staten and his boys left they weren't going to be able to backup all that good lore he created and essentially started over with D2.

Yeah they deleted all the grimoire of their site and they deleted the armory so you can't read item descriptions from stuff in the first game.

You know damn well that they will and with excuses like.
