You never fight anything significant in Bloodborne. It's the children/servants of the old ones or mutated people. The one exception might be the Moon Presence but that's at the end of the game so I'm okay with it.

Ebrietas and Rom are failed science experiments, Wet Nurse is a ghost, Orphan is a dreamworld manifestation of a dead baby, Amygdala is a lesser species equivalent to something like the Mi-Go. The closest thing is Moon Presence and defeating him doesn't result in a glorious victory, it results in turning into a slug.
The real Great One in Bloodborne is Oedon, who is an incomprehensible mystery. People have made hour-long videos discussing whether he even exists, or whether he's a disembodied voice, or whether he is the element mercury which is poisoning the blood of every Yharno.

I've read everything Lovecraft ever wrote including the unpublished work and the work released under a pseudonym. It's all been public domain for decades and most of his stories are very short (10-20 pages) so there's really no excuse for being so fucking ignorant about it.
