What would you like to see in an ARMS 2?
What would you like to see in an ARMS 2?
Arms
More arenas, more Characters, more balancing, and more arms
Ass
I'd like to see some legs 2.
A good game.
The rest of the comic
An actual online tournament mode like in Mario Kart 8 and Pokken. Surprised this wasn't even in the game since it's made by the same devs.
In general, just more of the same thing like new arms, characters and stages but add a little more tech to the base gameplay, though I have no idea what kind of tech you could add in a fighting game where it's simplicity is its greatest strength.
I want a proper fucking story mode.
I was cautiously optimistic about this during the switch reveal, then after the first test punch I was fucking IN. I bought it day one and I was playing it almost three or four hours a day after school and work, and god help me during the summer I was quite literally playing it almost all day. I think I have something like 500+ hours logged in it now.
I'm so fucking ready for that comic to come out, I'm so happy that even in my own little slice of buttfuck nowhere Indiana there's a comic store behind my work. I finally switched off of just using my Mii as an avatar to my boy Springaling after the 5.0 console update yesterday.
I will shit the entire brick factory if he's announced for Smash. This is legitimately my most favorite Nintendo IP in years.
Story mode with on rail punching stages almost like the old Star Fox, but with ARMS instead with a boss fight against the character of the stage at the end.
>I'm so fucking ready for that comic to come out
Don't get too excited about anything but the art.
The writer has a history of struggling with anything that's not Sonic.
>US & Canada Online Open
H-have fun I g-guess!
Kind regards. Europe.
why would you do this to me
Eh, Ian's had a decent track record so I'm not too worried. He wasn't the worst guy you could've picked, we'll wait and see if he can write anything outside of Sonic.
A complete lack of super armor characters. Mechanica is stupid as fuck.
I'm just saying, he's really not the kind of guy I would get to write an Arms book. At least he'll respect the material, but if you're used to his writing style he doesn't have a lot of range.
I'll agree he's decent, but
>we'll wait and see if he can write anything outside of Sonic.
He's done plenty of non-Sonic stuff. It's *all* mediocre or bad. Maybe Arms will just line up with his style well. I'm just gonna read it for the art and broader narrative structure.
An actual single player story mode that fleshes out the LORE of each fighter.
No more volleyball or basketball minigames
>fleshes out the LORE of each character
That's what fucking kills me about Arms. You spent months building up all of this shit about each fighter, and then clearing higher than four stars just gets you a piece of artwork.
Give me some silly Tekken style shit. Maybe Springman blows all his money on pizza and a dog runs off with his wagon of pizzas. SOMETHING.
Oh right, he made that Megaman comic didn't he?
Now I'm worried that there will be some OC character that gets shoved in 24/7 like that stupid villain Ian circlejerked over. I hope Nintendo or in this case, the ARMS dev team, are serious and actually supervise his shit.
At least alot of the artwork is really well done, though inconsistent on other characters like Mechanica and Master Mummy, and now you can unlock some lore in the new Gallery menu thing that was added awhile back.
They did it backwards with Splatoon and found themselves in a tight spot where 2 ended up having a worse initial campaign. Arms is very transparently built off of the success of the Splatoon model and they're approaching it in the same sort of iterative slow-drip fashion.
I think it's a mini instead of an ongoing? In which case there won't be any shit like that, especially since Ninty gets real hands on.
The problem with his writing isn't original characters and stuff, though. It's that he comes from the fan-writer school of thought. The John Byrne school. Slow burning building on top of established ideas. Mega Man actually had a lot of strength in its OCs and original ideas, but the story was dragged the fuck out because "LOOK AT THE REFERENCE" and "I'M BUILDING UP TO THE EPIC PAYOFF". Again, it might work in conjunction with Arms because of just how little there is to work on while simultaneously being pretty straightforward, but I'd stay wary and not go in with hopes of a strong adventure based on the game. Just a sort of rote story with some lorewank and pretty art.
His dialogue is extremely formulaic and he's got the Whedon problem where if you've seen enough of his stuff they stop feeling like characters. I'm sure the comic will be fine but I wish the dude could step back and reasses how he writes books. Cosmo is terrible.
I was so happy to see how they seem to have learned their lesson with the Octoling campaign. Looks like it's gonna be a very full and fleshed out story mode.
Yeah, the deal with that is that Splatoon 2 is more of a port than a sequel and there was no way they were going to one up 1's story mode in the time frame they had. Arms is intentionally shying away from story content until it has enough characters and other content first, it seems. It shipped pretty barebones. If there's an expansion or sequel I imagine we'll at least get F-Zero levels of story tidbits out of it.
Ian's good at structure and bad at character. He's able to write good short stories but tends to ignore that so he can fluff up bigger ones. I think he'd do better on something like Metroid than Arms.
His fanboys are pretty funny. They always have excuses for everything bad he's ever put to paper.
