Post 'em lads
Cool GUIs
I fucking hate the "HUD's actually a holographic projection on your glasses!" meme the games after Crysis have used.
Give me proper HUDs with good, distinct design instead.
Literally everything in P5 is sexy and stylish as fuck.
no hud best hud
True dat
still one of the best, devs must be retarded to not do this kind of shit more often
>Minimap and HP bars are slanted
Fucking shit UI always gave me aids
Also this
Not only does that design not work in practically anywhere else (meaning the back-meter), but just about ALL over-shoulder shooters now use some sort of fake holograms.
For horror games, visible MC suffering and wounds > HP meters.
Slick af
not gui but still cool
GUIs include HUDs but also option menus and whatnot
what game?
Echo
I actually loved it in Breakdown. At the halfway point your hud lifts with the glass of the memory pod youre in. First half if the game is a VR replay. Second half has no hud
I miss dead space. I want a new one.
Hard reset had a fucking cool main menu
I am of the opinion that the Witcher 3 was bad, I paid 60$ and only played 2 hours.
Obligatory.
Yes, it's such brilliant HUD design to make the character's back and ass cover half the screen.
PC vs. console basically?
lol
TW2-3 were both console trash for the wider audiences. Never has one game IP dropped the ball as fast as The Witcher.
if only they spent half the time they did on the gameplay as they do the inventory menus.
the style is nice, but I find it to be an eyesore to sort through
TRY OUT HTE NEW ONE
DARK SOULS 3
THE FPS ACTION YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR ALL YOUR LIFE
PEW PEW SHOOT HUMANS NOW
>if only they spent half the time they did on the gameplay as they do the inventory menus.
Name me one JRPG with better turn-based combat than Jagged Alliance 2 or name me one JRPG with better level design than Deus Ex.
Heck, you couldn't even name me one JRPG with better writing than Planescape: Torment despite JRPGS being story-focused to the point that game like Persona 5 have 50+ hours of cutscenes.
DOOM has horrendous UI that takes up 20% of the screen
Maybe not cool, but comfy as fuck
fuck off mate. It's fucking brilliant, and does not "obscure" anything.

This speaks to how the different genres developed.
For JRPGs, the most influential game was Wizardry, a dungeon crawler that in its most popular versions used white text against a blue background, which is why you see that exact style of interface in almost every JRPG.
With WRPGs, Wizardry wasn't as much as big of an influence because they always drew from tabletop games. However, at some point Dungeon Master was released, a game where you could use the mouse to interact with the environment and drag and drop objects from the environment into your inventory, and vice versa. This led to a very audiovisual interface where everything was conveyed through graphics and sounds rather than text.
>DOOM has horrendous UI that takes up 20% of the screen
It doesn't, though even that would be better than modern FPS where your gun takes up a quarter of the screen.
>When a game doesn't let you disable HUD
>game autodisables hud when nothing is happening
>Only option is to completely disable the HUD
>No option to disable only certain unnecessary parts of it
Go fly with the Angels
>When a game lets you disable his elements to make room for upgrades
For all it's faults, the physical map/gps was brilliant
That was legit a sick feature.
Terrible HUD. From that pic only the health, armor and ammo indicators are necessary. Rest are pointless clutter.
It was intentional to make you feel more claustrophobic, same as RE4
Eh, the minimap we got in Far Cry 3 is one of the few things I'll admit was a good change.
Wouldn't a first person perspective be better suited for that?
The over the shoulder view is just clunky and unimmersive.
They're literally removing for the new game because they found that everyone just glued their eyes to the minimap all the time and didn't bother actually exploring the world, and they're right
>inb4 ubishill
It obscure the game retard, you probably think ultima underworld has good UI too and that takes 70% of the screen
So you rather have UI cover the screen than a weapon you are using in gameplay
Every piece of art in Diablo 2 was perfection
Eh, they could reduce the information the minimap gives in order to reduce the 'eyes glued to it' problem. Far Cry 3's has collectables, shops, enemies, and everything. It shows so much and that's why people look at it so much. I want to use the minimap for navigation, and navigation only. Put the roads and shops on it and tell me where's north and I'm good. Even something like GTA3's minimap is good enough for me. I've been playing games for 20 years and I can safely say I'm terrible at navigation and most games aren't built with landmarks like in the real world. So a system like FC2 where I had to stop and pull out a map frequently was a real pain in the ass for me.
looks like if Windows Explorer were made in medieval times
Hail to you, Champion
I like the concept of it honestly, but I'm sure the execution isn't that great
The ingame font sometimes bothered me. The '5's look like they need an overhaul.
>Wouldn't a first person perspective be better suited for that?
you've never played either dead space, or any kind of fps. shut the fuck up.
Why do you jump straight to hostility instead of explaining the situation to him? Jesus fucking Christ
I think the point the user's trying to make is that since the health and shit exists on the character, there's more of a struggle to read as items from the game world block it, or the contortions of the character block it
>SGNITTES
>OEDIV\OIDUA
>SKCOLNU
>STIDERC
Yeah, there are some flaws. Like, they didn't implement drag and drop system, search bar, view toggle (switching from list view to tiles view) and toolbar shouldn't have been on the bottom.
