The balance feels very refined without ever feeling like you steamroll shit or are up against hopeless odds - I feel the cast and supports are the most fleshed out of any FE. It helps give more depth to the world established in FE6 and has some absolutely kino foreshadowing for it.

I only started the series recently starting with 6 and am currently almost done with Sacred Stones. I think SS has a handful of characters that are better than anything offered in 7, but for as much as people complain about the lords in 7 being nothing, I really sorely miss Lyn, Eliwood, and Hector when offered any combination of Eirika, Seth, Ephraim, and Innes.

FE7 felt kinda easy and the tutorial (which you have to do if you want the 19XX mission and if you want to use any of the characters from those chapters) is overly long. Having hector mode locked behind a playtrough and having hard mode locked behind normal mode also is annoying. Also marcus has way too good growths and you get a second lesser marcus halfway the game too.
Lyn is completely sidelined past her own story, eliwood is okay and hector only gets development in his own route. Ephriam and eirika also kinda miss that since they have a route split, but at least they have sibling lust.
