Old characters get some new moves. Mario can throw his hat, Ganon is not longer a clone, Toon Link if not cut now uses the Deku Leaf or something is less of of clone for examples.

Alt costumes as different characters is a bigger thing. The exact clones on S4 are alt costumes now. Pikchu returns as a alt costume for example.
