D3's story is awful. I haven't played D4 myself but from what I hear it has the best story and protagonist after D1, and of course it refines the gameplay from D3 further.

-Weaken every enemy on the level
- Find the enemy type that deals the most physical damage, make sure they have no weapons and no armor equipped (steal it all if you have to)
- Throw the lowest level enemy character on the map on top of that high damage enemy
- Not do the same for every other enemy except one (so the level doesn't end)
- Send all of your badasses to your home base
- Take your weakest unit, with a large throw amount and throw that enemy into your base
That enemy will either kill everyone instantly or will be captured. If you captured it and can afford to res it. Buy the absolute beast gear and equip it to that monster. Now go into the item world and do the same process with much stronger enemies (Bosses and unique characters can not be captured)

D5 was a fucking travesty. There are a number of, I wanna call 'em "directive failures" where one mook gets multiple voices over the course of the exchange. Maybe someone thought two dudes were talking, but that's fucking disgusting to listen to.
Beyond that, a number of the generics and DLC character's have fucking destroyed voice packs. A number of them are just broken, and even the ones that aren't are just the mixed up lines from previous games, regardless of whether those lines actually sounded the same. Most of the DLC characters have their "lines" removed, having only grunts and horrid screeches.
Killia's VA sounds like he could not give fewer fucks, as does Void's.
Red Magnus and Usalia are okay, Seraphina and Marjorita are good, Bloodis is pure sex, and most of the new classes are great; it's just the trainwreck around the few good parts makes it unbearable.
I do recommend switching over to Dub just for scenes you think are going to have a lot of Bloodis in them, because Bloodis alone is fucking worth it.

Well, Sulphur was level 2000 before Sprout fucked his shit, and died with Sulphur in him, and Eryngi Baal was level 4000.
I recall hearing somewhere (Something like an artbook, or an interview, or some shit) that Phantom Brave's Eryngi Baal was a bit weaker than normal Baal, since Baal was trying to lay low for a while. How all that works out, I have no idea, except that Sulphur was probably stronger than King Drake lll, at least.
My autistic headcannon is that Sulphur was actually a part of Baal's soul that was hiding out in a backwater world and gaining power. When you actually killed it, Baal came to see wtf happened.

Power in Disgaea's a strange thing.
Priere's one of the stronger overlords in a fight, but her actual "power level" is quite low. Lest anyone forget that Priere beat up Baal before it was cool, as a basic bitch human, no less.
King Drake lll, on the other hand, is allegedly one of the more "powerful" Overlords, despite being hilariously weak.
Babylon was the undisputed king of the universe back in his day, but Zetta is apparently stronger, despite not having the same authority attached to his name.
My understanding of things is that Laharl is on the upper-middle tier, to lower-high tier of Overlord power. The reason he has Baal on the run is more because he's actively pursuing Baal, and Baal has never had his motives very well fleshed out, besides lengthening the time people play the game.

This is DEEP NIS lore, but basically Lujei sent Sulpher to fuck with Ivoire, Sprout defeats him the first time, he comes back in a much weaker state, Marona and co can't kill him so Walnut sends him into some timewarp shit.
THEN Walnut and Sulpher get picked up by Lujei, Lujei keeps Walnut as a toy and sends Sulphur back to Ivoire just to fuck with people, but by this point, Postgame Marona has roided up enough to actually kill Sulpher (youtube.com
