>want to play DJMAX really badly
>so many videos for the songs have fucking epilepsy flashes, even going so far as having that eye burning red/blue flashing that gave Japanese kids seizures when watching Pokemon
>I've been too lazy to buy a lamp for the room with my PS4
As a DJMAX player since the PSP days though, I will say Respect is probably the best game in the series yet. I never wanted to learn 8b since I was afraid I'd fuck up the shoulder buttons on my PSP/Vita, but the DS4 is the perfect controller for this sort of game
I don't even know how I'm gonna get to 8 buttons, I'm great at 4 but stepping up to 5 fucks everything up
It's a learning process. The difficulties are really good at gradually teaching you shit
4b: Self explanatory
5b: 4b, but with a center note that you can hit with 2 inputs interchangably
6b: 5b, but the 2 inputs for the middle note are their own individual notes. Just draw an imaginary line down the center to know which half of the controller you need to use
8b: 6b, but with the shoulder buttons
Me. Deemo is pretty damn good.
Been having a blast with it. First time with the series and couldn't beat level 4 songs at 4B when I started but just got a max combo on a few level 6 songs at 6B yesterday. Feels fucking great.
You can dim the videos by pressing the touch pad during the songs.
Best game in the series, been enjoying it quite a lot
What kind of music does this have? Never heard of this series before, but I tend to enjoy rhythm games.
Why didn't they put an animu on the cover of technika tune?
kpop, techno, house, rock, etc .. it's pretty open. I even has some of these
>rhythm games
lol a decade ago called, it wants its stupid gimmick back
A little bit of everything, but most of the music is Korean. If you've ever played Pump It Up, it's that sort of music
Did that game even get a physical release in North America? I wouldn't have downloaded it if I knew
>$50
no thanks shill
yep
DLC packs when? I will literally buy the Clazziquai pack just for First Kiss
Is there going to be DLC for this? I want to buy the physical asia/English version but don't want to have to use a separate account and fucked rates to buy DLC
Yes there is DLC for it on the Asia version, they are adding every song from the franchise.
Also, the NA version is already out digitally, but no DLC still
len is cute, CUTE!
I am surprised of the difficulty
How many songs are there?
Is there any point in playing online? The only thing I've taken away from it is that anything less than an FC means you're trash
>8B
>XB
>4FX
Fuck shoulder button inputs
The trophy
Just bought it. I never play rhythm games, but was looking through Switch rhythm games yesterday since I was wanting to play something totally different. Hope its worth it
From these threads, it's surprisingly beginner friendly. You'll more than likely enjoy it
Unlocks and playing with friends, mostly. Also, playing songs or charts that you've put on the backburner. Treat it more as a social feature than a PvP.
Does it have any new 3rd coast song?
I went to Toronto I went to Atlanta, I used to drink Pepsi, but now I like Fanta.
It could have been $60. Blame everyone for not liking rhythm games
>no KARA songs
Fuck licensing bullshit. They were the best songs
Honestly I'm sold by the promise of K-Pop alone.
I've been playing the demo and it's really fucking good, but for the life of me I can't clear songs. I guess I'll just keep practicing till I feel confident enough to purchase it.
I play Project Diva Future Tone and can manage Hard on that. I know I'm not crazy good at rhythm games, but I'm no stranger to them. I guess DJ Max is just a harder series.
It's just a matter of practice. You'll get there in time, I promise. It's really fun when the right gears in your head click and your thumbs are dancing across the controller
What other rhythm games are worth getting? I'm excited at exploring this genre I've never touched... except Guitar Hero.
On PS4, your only options are this game and Project Diva Future Tone. Fuck the modern gaming market not liking rhythm games
There is taiko too on PS4, it is more fun than project diva in my opinion.
Pretty much DJMax and Project Diva if you're talking strictly console games. The rest are mobile games, flat-out bad, or are arcade titles.
How do you change the UI themes? I know you can do it, but how the fuck DO you do it.
The UI themes are only changeable if you have the Trilogy or Clazziquai DLC. You change it at the main screen with the touchpad. This also allows you to change the music offset and other options.
>ARMS picture
My nigga
Oh. Neither of which are out in NA right now, right?
I haven't played much of taiko but isn't it only a 2 button game? Not sure why people like it so much.
It's technically 4 buttons; two halves of the drum face and two rims. It is simple as fuck, but the harder levels can fuck you up
147, but there's DLC to come later
You mean Future Tone? I played it a few hours ago.
Yeah, but the wait probably won't be that long if it's acknowledged in the NA version.
Rhythm games are fun and all, but they're horribly overpriced for what you get. You can finish the game in a day or two, and from there is just repeating the same shit over and over to increase your high score. Like, good for you if that's your thing and all, but for me once I run out of new content I'm pretty much done. I'm not the sort of person who sticks around for the end-game stuff if its any variation of getting a high score.
The point of a rhythm game is to have fun with what it gives you, sure you are trying to increase your score but hitting notes to the beat is fun. You don't ever really "finish" a rhythm game.
I think taiko is fun at every skill level, which made it more enjoyable for me to play. With stuff like DJMax it took a while to get the controls really down and took away some motivation for me to get better. With taiko I found it fun at every level difficulty because the controls are intuitive. I also tend to like the song list in taiko games more.
Such a stupid post.
You think people go to rhythm game arcades for story mode? They go to increase their skills and try harder songs. The harder songs you can play, the more fun the game is.
I've "beaten" DJMAX Respect ages ago but I play almost daily to keep my skills high and push further up the ladder.
You pay a small price for unlimited gameplay. Versus paying $60 for the next 8 hour flavor of the month game.
when is it going on sale?
I loved DJMAX Portable black square and 3 but I'm broke
The point of rhythm games is self-improvement. You're not going to FC the hardest songs in a weekend and even then, you're going to have some favorite songs you'll play multiple times just because it's fun
Considering how new it is, probably not anytime soon
Wow, the exact sort of stupidity I'd expect from a tripfag. Unlimited gameplay? Every fucking game has """unlimited""" gameplay if you want to autistically do the same thing over and over and over and over.
I bet you think Melee has deep gameplay.
It will sound silly but it feels like playing a hack n slash game to me. Fun I guess is the word
Play Pump It Up.
>You can finish the game in a day or two
Games like Parappa, sure. Most music games aren't meant to be a play-a-song-once-and-done thing though. If you treat them as such, the games are a waste of money.
>200+ hours in Idolmaster PS
>~50 in Idolmaster SS and still playing
>80 in P4D
>70 in Future Tone and still playing
>Unknown hundreds in various Rhythm Heavens
Some of those aren't even very good, but still it's pretty silly to say they don't provide bang for your buck.
>Stick notes show a rotating animation when they come up
>you can still hold the stick in one direction without breaking them
Do you get more points more spinning or something?
There are a few good ones on PC. There is basically an iidx emulator, stepmania, and maybe osu if you really like it.
Nope. Took me a while to realize I could just hold it too.
RHF>RHM>RT>RH
Nah. If anything, rotating them is a liability since you could enter a deadzone in the stick and drop the hold.
>play several hours
>git gud
>hard part comes in
>tfw you literally feel like time slows down for a second
>Increase speed
>Get used to it
>Suddenly it feels very slow and you have to increase further
>gh_hyperspeed.gif
how much is this game with all the dlcs?
any chances of a new edition with all the content?
It's got nothing on arcade rhythm games, but it's the best console one out there.
>how much is this game with all the dlcs?
About $100 USD
>any chances of a new edition with all the content?
Nah. They aren't even done the DLC yet. Metro and Black Square don't even have dates announced yet last time I checked.
Is it better than Miku's game? And when I say that I mean if the songs are diverse and there's cute minigames and shit
>the songs are diverse
Yes
>cute minigames and shit
Only a bullshit mission mode of bullshittery but there are gallery images to unlock.
the game already has like 100 songs in its base game. stop worrying about DLC and just buy it.
Your bitching could literally apply to tons of vidya though, like fighters, shmups, hell arcade in general really. A lot of games are about ACTUALLY GETTING BETTER, like not "leveling up" some numbers in game but you, the human player, becoming better. And yeah that takes practice and repetition and more practice and then more. Just like getting good at anything else.
I guess if you just exclusively like cinematic campaigns and shit, well, you're in good company. Hell that's most of the modern market. But it shouldn't surprise you that there are people who like doing truly challenging stuff and seeing how far they can push their own limits too right?
Infinitely better than any Vocaloid rhythm game. No cute mini games. Just pure rhythm game and high skill ceiling.
Fuck Bemani autists and their secret club mentality
Just draw the fucking pig, sperg
There is no "beat" or "endgame" in a rhythm game, neither of those concepts apply to them at all
Just got Superb and all the Skill stars for the main game in Rhythm Heave Megamix, now I have to suffer through the Perfect Challenges and Challenge trains.
osu! on PC imo is a great rhythm game. Easy to learn, with a good diff curve. All songs are player-made, so you'll have to search and download your own stuff, or make your own stuff if you're into that.
I've been playing it for a long-ass time though so I may be biased.
Explain to me how rhythm games aren't just long protracted QTEs.
A rhythm game requires far more physical input than your average game.
Think about it, in your average game you're holding a stick down, and maybe pressing 1 or 2 buttons for block and attack. With rhythm games your average input per minute is likely far higher and far more demanding than a normal game.
There's a decent number of good rhythm games coming out for VR on PC, like Soundboxing, Holodance, vRhythm, etc.
Particularly looking forward to beat saber personally.
Been playing non stop. I lost my 150000 freestyle combo and only later did I learn you can keep your combo if you just restart the song. Gonna be a while till I unlock Nightmare.
>never played a DJMax
>or even a rhythm game where the notes drop from the top before
>a week later jamming to 6B Hard songs
Why is it so much better than other styles of rhythm games? I feel like I've been losing out for years. Glory Day, Quixotic and Miles are my jam.
This is the best song
Also, are we getting song DLC packs eventually?
>think you're out of shape
>muscle memory makes you maxcombo almost every song on first try after a decade
>muscle memory a section to miss, or with terrible timing
kill me
Supposedly dlc will come 'by the end of the month'
How do I unlock Blythe?

Mission 6-2
Probably some unbeatable bullshit
or 300 play count isn't so bad.
I don't know about you but the difficult jumps are ridiculous for some of the songs. Miles for an example is 2 levels on normal and on hard it's 10 levels. Normal is way too slow for me and hard is too hard for me. That sucks.
Such a good fucking song.
Only a few songs have ridiculous jumps like that.
I have the Japanese version of the game, why were some songs translated to Japanese? Is there any way to get the original version of the song?
I've been stuck on the 90% challenge on the second challenge list for the past few days fml
now that i know this exists i kind of want to try it...
>why were some songs translated to Japanese
Why the fuck do you want to listen to gook speak?
It's a wonderful sounding language.
Because korean sound like dog shit that why.
