Pic related is the worst fucking Zelda game. Low dungeon count and 3 of them use the same control someone else gimmick (The statues in Tower of the Gods, Medli and Korok lad). Weakest and worst feeling combat with shitty QTE to Win attack. Most boring overworld all there is to do is an occasional small puzzle on an island for a heart piece. So many awkward moments that expose how rushed the game was, like having the blue pendant handed to you for nothing.
>B-but its comfy!! I don't give a fuck its boring and sucks in every aspect
Phantom Hourglass and Twilight Princess are the worst. Aside from the obvious CD-i games. Wind Waker was just mediocre. And it's pretty much pointless now that Breath of the Wild came out, doing pretty much everything Anouma wanted to do in Wind Waker.
Skyward Sword is without a doubt the absolute worst 3D Zelda, how do people even think otherwise? I said 3D because I'm not sure if it's the absolute worst Zelda in general since Phantom Hourglass exists and I haven't played any of the multiplayer ones like Four Swords.
works better as a phone wp tbqh but the colours are better in yours
Noah Murphy
this will always be the worst Zelda to me. it was the beginning of a long line of disappointing games. haven't played BOTW yet.
Joseph Perez
Literally the same thing as Ocarina with more padding included. I'll give you guys Midna
Grayson Davis
Skyward sword is the worst 3D zelda imo. TP and MM I would put at #1 and WW would be somewhere in between. I don't hate WW but it's really lacking in challenge and the triforce piece hunt(fixed in HD remake) is horrible. Zelda games are never difficult but WW is just a complete walk over, bit more challenge and some extra dungeons and it would have been a great game.
Jace Campbell
It's actualy the best zelda, get good tastes
Dylan Scott
I agree it was real disappointing especially after the 9.5/10 masterpiece that was Majora's Mask
Luis Turner
The funny thing is that TP fans never have any defense as to why their game is so great. It's always just about blasting anyone who disagrees.
Jose Cox
The latter game of Breath of the Wild is very boring desu.
Christian Robinson
It wasn't the greatest but I really enjoyed how alive the characters were, as well as the environments. It was cool as shit going through the temple of time with it stuck in time.
If Twilight was like Ocarina, it would have been good. Instead, it was a game where they tried to imitate the "dark, moody atmosphere" of Ocarina of Time and failed. Then everything else about the game was like them trying to be opposite of Ocarina just for the sake of being opposite. Its The Last Jedi of Zelda.
Alexander Powell
majora's mask is the worst one imo >shit dungeons filled with backtracking >3 day cycle adds a time limit to the game making the aforementioned dungeons more annoying than they have to be >have to reset back to first day or find an owl statue to save >reuse all of oot's assets and call it a different world/characters >2deep4u premise >have to relearn the song of storms even though it's a sequel
Should have called it The Legend of Zelda: Majority of the Masks have little to no use other than getting a heart piece or solving a very specific puzzle
Caleb Robinson
>literally the same thing as Ocarina I hate this meme.
Lincoln James
It had a unique atmosphere in the zelda universe something that nintendo is not use to deliver.
Robert White
skyward bored is actually the worst one, it's 80% recycled content and padding
Dylan Ramirez
>Low dungeon count Like every game since Majora's Mask >and 3 of them use the same control someone else gimmick (The statues in Tower of the Gods, Medli and Korok lad). It was a major component of the game. That's like saying getting a item in every dungeon is an overused gimmick >Weakest and worst feeling combat with shitty QTE to Win attack. Just don't use it. At least it wasn't motion controls like Skyward Sword. >Most boring overworld all there is to do is an occasional small puzzle on an island for a heart piece. About as empty as Breath of the Wild, but everyone seems to love that. >So many awkward moments that expose how rushed the game was, like having the blue pendant handed to you for nothing. That I'll admit, but it's the only one that stands out to me.
Jordan Jones
just crop it to be a phone wp so you can get the best of both
Jason Lopez
>Low dungeon count >Like every game since Majora's Mask TP hardly has a "low" dungeon count
Alexander Richardson
>best gameplay Zelda 2 >worst gameplay Skyward sword >least handholding Zelda 1 >most handholding Skyward Sword >best visual style Wind Waker >worst visual style Skyward Sword & Wind Waker HD >best dungeon/dungeon item synergy TP >best game in the series Oracle of Seasons >worst game in the series Skyward Sword
Fact.
Noah Walker
How are they wrong opinions, everything OP listed is in the game. He didn't even talk about all the copy-pasted islands.
Nathan Johnson
the ds games that require a pencil to play and the wii waggling are the worst games, just for the fact that they make gameplay terrible
Gabriel Smith
>Like every game since Majora's Mask You know except Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. >major component of the game No it wasn't if it was then it'd be in the other 2 dungeons, its a recycled mechanic just admit it >At least it wasn't like Skyward Sword Yeah but the motion controls let the game have the deepest combat of the entire series, I don't care if you like motion controls or not its a fact >About as empty as Breath of the Wild Yeah I hate that game too but thats for another thread >Only rushed moment that stands out to me Yknow that and the entire triforce quest that if it wasn't there the game would be 3 hours long.
bait harder next time bro
Lucas Perry
They're pretty good if you play them with the d-pad hack
Blake Cruz
If Nintendo wasn't so lazy we could have gotten some me content in the HD remake to beef the game up. Regardless I don't think it's worse than Skyward.
Thomas Carter
And Wind Waker is literally the same thing as Ocarina with less content, but more padding.
Noah Morris
>the deepest combat of the entire series Zelda 2 would like a word with you
Ayden Miller
This was the only Zelda game I played & finished and I still didn't like it
Xavier Ward
Man I love Zelda 2 dont get me wrong lol
Colton Davis
Orcale of fucking what.? Best Dungeon item synergy >Not ocarina of time or majora's mask
Best game in the series is between majora's mask or ocarina of time i don't even know wtf your trying to put here.
I actually hated BotW more than this game. At least WW felt like a damn Zelda game instead of boring generic modern day open world game #3,452
Landon Torres
People who like the GBC games the best should just immediately be disregarded
Ryder Anderson
>Skyward Sword is without a doubt the absolute worst 3D Zelda Wrong, bucko.
Owen Hughes
>Yeah but the motion controls let the game have the deepest combat of the entire series, I don't care if you like motion controls or not its a fact That's not combat, it's puzzle solving. Once an enemy is "solved" they're piss easy >Yknow that and the entire triforce quest that if it wasn't there the game would be 3 hours long. That was more padding than an awkward moment. Sure it took a fucking long time but it didn't feel out of place at the time, only in retrospect.
Brayden Davis
I agree, but BotW is so different I don't really consider it a Zelda. Its the MGS5 equivalent to this series.
Landon Wood
I love how this dude said all this shit and managed not to even mention the triforce shard hunting
Jaxson Anderson
I just came here to tell you, that.
That analogy is pretty shit and prolly gave me cancer.
>lied to the audience, putting out trailers that imply there's a huge epic story when in reality they just used every cutscene in the game in the trailers to make it seem that way >turn a well loved tight focused experience into an open world physics playground >everyone eats it up I'd say it's actually pretty spot on.
Adam Howard
sweet ganondorf fight tho
Julian Long
You're not wrong. Ironically the most stereotypical criticism of the game, the artstyle, is what the game most excels at. It's everything else that's lacking.
What I hate the most about Wind Waker is how it uses its side content as a crutch, and it's not even good side content. If you look at the first 3-4 Zelda games, they're actually pretty sparse on side content. Almost everything you're doing is related to the main quest. It's only with OoT that the side activities really took on a life of their own, but it still had a fairly meaty main questline. MM doubled down on the sidequests but they were mostly high quality enough to justify it, and MM was pretty experimental overall. WW's side content isn't anywhere close to MM's level, a huge chunk of it is just repetitive copypasted busywork. Enemy platforms, submarines, holes, reefs, etc. Its absurd level of filler would be unrivaled if not for BotW. And the main quest is so weak that you gain a major plot macguffin for absolutely nothing, and the Triforce hunt is virtually identical to the side content. The game can't hide how rushed it is.
Anthony Butler
I've played from Wind Waker to Breath of the Wild and can say it's the best in terms of getting invested into the motives of the characters. All the main cast is incredibly likeable, even Ganon has a relateable sympathetic side to him. The gameplay is serviceable but DESU this is the case with every single Zelda game I've played. Seriously it's a 30 year old franchise and you still spend an absolute fuck ton of time switching items in menus breaking up the flow of gameplay. Sad thing about this though is that Skyward Sword of all the fucking games is the most fluid with item switching.
Parker Adams
Oracle of Seasons had the best mix of combat and puzzles with less story, and a good overworld to explore. Literally did all the things Zelda is known for correctly and balanced around each other.
>Not ocarina of time or majora's mask Slingshot, Boomerang, Bow, Megaton Hammer and the Mirror Shield are only for hitting switches and damaging the boss. Longshot is just an upgrade to an overworld item and bombs are a staple of Zelda games, leaving only the hover boots, which were pretty good >MM >dungeon items are the bow and types of arrows
Evan Clark
>Oracle of Seasons that's a funny way of spelling "ages" user
Caleb Roberts
>>turn a well loved tight focused experience into an open world physics playground That wasn't even the original intent of the Zelda games before Aonuma took over. They were meant to capture the feeling of adventure and exploration, but after OoT, they all turned into formulaic walks through the park. BotW attempted to capture the essence of the original and was praised because of it.
Logan Wilson
I disagree. I think the worst one is Phantom Hourglass; DS controls were sorta iffy and it overall wasn't great. Never played Spirit Tracks but I've heard that one is smoother.
Parker Myers
the ds zelda games belong in the same category as the infamous CDI games.
Jace Powell
Ages reaches an all time low at Jabu Jabu's dungeon and it never recovers afterwards.
It tried to do both and that was it's downfall. The memories were a poor stand in for an actual story, and every time you near a dungeon it turned back to linear which with BotW's gameplay sucked. The actual dungeons sucked too, they were all the same. Generic, small, easy, and with an awful boss at the end.
Nathan Perez
FACTS!!! that game was pure garbage
Joshua Morris
I don't know if I can meet you halfway on that one, user
Grayson Edwards
Spirit Tracks is much worse than Phantom Hourglass
Sebastian Murphy
>best >oracle of seasons Until you have to do the weirdest shit to progress with no good hints.
Robert White
This. BotW is not the perfect Zelda game. It can be improved upon a ton. But it was a step back in the right direction compared to the linear story games Anouma was making before. Zelda started off as a series about free exploration. BotW returned to it. Now it needs to return to dungeons and item progression while keeping the huge open world in the next game and Zelda will be saved.
Ryan Rogers
I liked skyward sword
Carson Jones
Never played it. Refused to after PH.
Blake Myers
BotW=TP=WW=MM=OoT=SS
I liked all 3D Zelda games pretty equally. But, if I did rate them, turn those = into >
Lucas Peterson
Link Between Worlds was a step in the right direction. This is same as before except Hyrule Field is a gigantic playground and everything else sucks.
Julian Hernandez
I like all Zelda games
Daniel Roberts
Imagine Phantom Hourglass but instead of a cool pirate your companion is a shrill ghost of Zelda, and the boat is a train so it's all on rails and exploration is limited even more.
Isaiah Allen
>Link Between Worlds was a step in the right direction. Agreed in many ways. But it didn't have a lot of things BotW did.
>This is same as before except Hyrule Field is a gigantic playground and everything else sucks. Which is why BotW is different. And having a huge world to mess around in is not a negative. All the other stuff being bad is the only real negative. Which is what the sequel should improve on. Replace 120 shrines with 5-6 well designed, large dungeons. Have random caves/stairs/etc on the overworld that lead to unique underworld areas like in Zelda 1. Etc.
Robert Reed
Skyward Sword has it's lows and highs but it's lows greatly outweight it's highs. The dungeons though are fantastic and the Beetle is a tool I would love to see return again due to it's amazing utility. I would have loved the silent realms if they weren't mandatory (just being a bonus game) but being as they are puts me in a bad mood having to do them. Biggest problem with Skyward Sword is that it's filled to the brim with shallow padding.
Jace Foster
>best dungeons in the series >some best atmosphere in the series >some of the best bosses in the series >best graphical style in the series >best music in the series >hidden skills are cool AF >midna >Zant killing Ganon
I could go on. The only thing that stops it from being the GOAT Zelda is the motion controls and BotW having better customization.
Jeremiah Garcia
>best graphical style in the series
A lot of people would disagree with you there, user. I don't, but a lot do.
Dylan Wood
I agree that the dungeons were pretty disappointing, but I do think that BotW would make a much better foundation for the series as opposed to OoT. If they keep the same kind of open world but add more interior level design and actual dungeons, they would have the perfect Zelda game in the making.
Chase Jones
>best dungeons in the series HEAVILY Disagree. The Water Temple and Snowpeak were probably the worst dungeons I've ever seen in the series. And I don't even remember anything about the other dungeons except one was full of sand and really easy.
But opinions.
>some best atmosphere in the series Brown and bloom was the biggesty problem with TP. Aside from it not being anything like Ocarina which it was trying to imitate, it also looked like shit on SDTVs. Which the Wii was made for. It was trying to imitate the fad of the time, but that fad of brown and bloom was being done on HDTVs.
>some of the best bosses in the series Disagree. But we can't really argue beyond opinions.
>best graphical style in the series See above.
>best music in the series AHAHAHAHA! Are you fucking serious?! >hidden skills are cool AF Also pointless. And your ancestor teaching you skills as well as belting out old Ocarina songs as a wolf are some of the dumbest things Zelda has ever done.
>midna That's really the only good thing I can think of with TP.
You make some good points. But also fuck you, you're wrong
Andrew Moore
I respect your opinion. However, despite all the flaws you listed I still enjoyed it very much as a child and still do as an adult.
Ayden Walker
>Never played Spirit Tracks but I've heard that one is smoother Mostly yes, but the fucking train make it a chore to move in the overworld. Moving through areas is so damn slow, teleport are also used from the rain and needed to be reached with it in the first place, making them as tedious as the the rest of the travels. The only good thing are the dungeon, but every time i want to repaly it, i remeber how fucking tedious and boring the train is and i immediatly drop any intention to play it. Literally the worst main Zelda game ever made.
Angel Carter
This. If you dislike WW then fine, whatever, but if you think it's worse than SS you're underage.
Evan White
I remember thinking how human ganondorf was. They really should bring out his human side again. Too bad the SS just made him evil incarnate. But even then you can bring out philosophical dilemas
Asher Cox
>Also pointless Agreed on that fact, although there's literally nothing wrong with having a bigger combat moveset.
>And your ancestor teaching you skills as well as belting out old Ocarina songs as a wolf are some of the dumbest things Zelda has ever done. Every game since ALttP has been cashing in into nostalgia in one way or another, there's nothing particularly wrong with the nods to the N64 era done in TP.
Jayden Gonzalez
YU ALL SAID SKAIWARDO SWORDU WAS ZA WORST! BUT OF COURSU, NOW YU RAIKU SKAIWARDU SWORDO! DAT'S WHY I REAVE ZERUDA WITH AONUMA-SAN! SO YU CAN BASHU HIS GAMU INSTEAD OF MINE! BUT INSTEAD YU ALL ROOOOVE BUREASUTO OF DA WAIURDO AND HATE MY GAMU! FUKKU YU!
>And your ancestor teaching you skills as well as belting out old Ocarina songs as a wolf are some of the dumbest things Zelda has ever done.
Have you even played any of the Zeldas before Ocarina of Time? You will be amazed at how much OoT either references or outright rips off from previous games.
Christian Miller
You should have left Zelda with Tezuka or Koizumi you fucking hack.
Owen Gray
I fucking despise MM
Alexander Ward
Snow Peaks setting is really fucking neat
Logan Thompson
>MM doubled down on the sidequests but they were mostly high quality enough to justify it
"Talk to this NPC", "Play this minigame", "Find these frogs", etc. do not represent engaging sidequests. Not defending WW, but only the Anju/Kafei and Romani quests were any good in MM.
Dominic Gomez
tbqh Miyamoto-sama I have kept consistent opinions through most of my experience with the series.
The only major changes I went through are appreciating TP more, and realizing WW is shit once you overlook the charming graphics.
Alexander Watson
>Every game since ALttP has been cashing in into nostalgia in one way or another, there's nothing particularly wrong with the nods to the N64 era done in TP. I'm sorry but singing Ocarina songs with a wolf's voice is just stupid. Both as a game mechanic but also because it doesn't sound anything like the song. They tried to make it sound like a real wolf, which doesn't have the tonal range to produce all the notes an Ocarina can. On top of being dumb as a gameplay mechanic, it shows the overall problem with TP. Trying too hard to jump on the realism fad.
>have you even played it? Stop it.
Luke Scott
It's also just a giant circle leading back to the door right next to the starting room. Something Skyrim dungeons get bashed for.
Finally someone else is saying it. MM started most of the annoying fetch quest systems that became standard in the later games.
Brody Perry
BotW > MM > OoT > TP > WW > the diarrhea my dog had today > SS
It's a valid question to ask considering half of this board (without exaggeration) does not consistently play video games and often talks straight out of their ass.
Christian Perry
Sorry bro, not everyone has a wolf howling degree. They sounded fine to me, and I recognized a bunch of tunes from the first time you get to howl them.
Joseph Myers
You realize that the vast majority of WW's sidequests are literally no different than the vast majority of MM's sidequests, right?
