The Hero's Journey for instance would not fall into the power fantasy category, nor would Freytag's pyramid, because the central tenet that's core amongst nearly all main-character centered action is the protagonist suffering from either an inherent, or acquired, debilitating weakness in one form or another, and usually they don't over-come that weakness but learn to cope with it. This is either an intellectual/personality trait or sometimes a physical one, but generally it's a trait that isn't meant to define the story, or even really the character (though it is used often to do so), majority of the time it's not even a conscious decision by the writer. People are naturally put into positions of adversity where they still manage to over-come, and that leaks over into fiction very organically.

Power fantasy has none of that. Power fantasies focus on the strength of the character and their achievements and either have extremely little adversity which effects them, or none. This is one of the reasons why I hate the term "power fantasy," it's a misused term that's become a nebulous criticism by either insecure beta's or feminists as a way of criticising some form of masculinity, disregarding that showing weakness and persevering is a huge part of masculinity.

Force Awakens is a good example of Power Fantasy, fighting games are not.
