Should I play God Hand? I’ve played Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising, Nier Automata, and I’m in the middle of DMC 1 so I’ve basically been going down the list of PlatinumGames and games somewhat associated with PlatinumGames. People seem to consider God Hand more of a beat em up than a character action game though which kind of turns me off of it.

I'd recommend Imagine: Party Babyz instead.

Yes absolutely

Kiss your wrists goodbye if you do.

God hand you say?

Is this a thing now? Sonyfags pretending NG doesn't exist?

Play it, it's one of the funniest games I've seen and there's a reason it spawned the "fuck yes you are the best boss fight ever" meme.

You should play it because it's excellent which is all the reason you need.

>NG
Newgrounds? literally what does that mean?

Is God Hand legitimately a good game? Or is it some meme that's going over my head? Honest question

Attached: zoro.png (172x157, 57K)

Can I expect to do cool combos early on? I feel like the main combo chain comes off too slow and pre-determined for my tastes. I'm playing it right now and I'm having trouble chaining stuff together, like in that gif.

Interesting combat system stuck in a VERY mediocre game.

Probably not, once you get to the map I'd say hit up the casino and go buy some more moves if you don't like the standard combos. You'll be learning a lot the first time through anyway, it's better to focus on things like how to manage crowds of enemies and mastering the camera controls and dodge before worrying about combos.

Attached: GOD OR DEMON, WHAT AM I.webm (852x480, 2.91M)

It is a very good game.
Honestly probably the best beat em out there

This is probably heresy here but I think I'm going to go ahead and just buy the PS2 classics version of it off the PS3 PSN store.

Fucking mislabeled webms, I forgot that wasn't a God Hand one.

Yes you should. Don't believe me? Watch this:

That's the cool shit you can do in this. Wanna know what you get for beating It? This:

That's right. And you know what you should do after playing this? Sign this so we can see it make a resurgence. Be a cool guy, user.

Depends on where you stand on how important gameplay is. If you're in it for any other reasons and can't appreciate janky charm, then don't touch it. But if you don't care about some shortcomings and are down for some goofy weird fun, I'd say it's worth it.

Try it on an emulator first if you can, I think it's only officially available on the PS3 PSN at this point, not counting buying a PS2 copy.

It's fine, its only problems is some lip sync issues in two or three cutscenes.

It's good dude.

It's fantastic. It has some weird design decisions that take some getting used to, but there are very few things that I just find outright bad about the game. My biggest complaints are a pretty lacking NG+ that sets you back to zero in many ways and is pretty unsatisfying after you've just been playing with a lot of moves unlocked and a couple of bossfights aren't that well designed, though even that's not that bad because most of the bosses are excellent, it's just unfortunate that there a few that don't quite hit home.

Is there a gif of the little sprite of Gene that rruns on the bottom of the screen after you've finished a stage?

NeoGeo? Next Gen? New Game? Explain yourself

technically yes but it'll take a while to get used to the way god hand plays. you can juggle and launch, cancel shit with your dodges, OTG and use your roulette moves in combos
later you get a shitload of moves and you'll be able to style harder

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninja_Gaiden

there you go, newfag. get educated

Post cool webms and gifs of cool shit in God Hand. I need to build up my folder.

I sonybros hate New Grounds

Ok thanks retard

What does Ninja Gaiden have to do with a thread about Platinum Games?

bought a physical copy for 65 shekels mein nigga. why is it so hard. those damn demons that spawn if you beat a random.

God Hand will always be one of my favorites. It really is a shame that no other beat em up tried to replicate the combat system from it

Wristletts. When will they learn?

>OP is getting into action games little by little, it is clear he hasn't played everything yet
>NGfags immediately get buttblasted and start console wars just because not everyone plays and praises their precious game
Grow up, Tom Fulp. No one cares about NewGrounds anymore.

Wasn't there an indie game that tried to replicate it recently and it flopped?

Technically.
Also some of the best moves in the game are available from the start and you can use them at all times.
I'm talking about the secret input moves.

God I love this game

It takes a while getting used to. Once you do, though, you're in for a ride.

It's a very good game done with very low budget.
It feels complished (polished and complete) but the environments are rather empty and lifeless.

It's fine.
People shat on it because some fuckery made the PS3s sound like a jet engine on fire, but it never had any problems on my end, it was probably fixed.

I LOVE IT

Play it for yourself nerd

I love it. Post some more.

Play it. It is fucking stylish if you play it in the right way. God I love that game.. its so funny

99% of Sup Forums can't beat tiger Joe without the God Hand

>pop arm
>use all roulettes
>barely survive

Sa-X >>> Dark Samus

It reminds me of that old turn based martial arts game with the stick figures.

you're not talking about absolver, are you?
fun for a while but it's amateurish and incomplete

Stylish is objectively one of the best ways to tell if a game is kino. Maybe it's because the directors actually loved what they were making enough to give it that soulful spark of creativity. I fucking adore most stylish games.

I love like every stylish game... And I still don't play some of them. But it's true. If it's stylish, it's because the developers worked with passion

I dropped it because faster games spoiled me and I couldn't get used to the tank controls but saw a lot of potential in the make your own moveset and combos thing and the bossfights I saw were fun as heck and had a lot of charisma. Would rec you give it a try.

DO YOU EVER FIGHT ALEXANDER IN THIS GAME?

easily the best of the lot you listed. PLAY IT NAO

Not anymore.
Ryu is hanging out with the DOA girls in dead series heaven, while Kratos became a TLoU clone which replaced his baddassery with soy meter and crafting.

Really? I can easily fuck him up without any damage on KMS run.

Attached: wall.jpg (1200x800, 202K)

Can someone post that pic with all the ebst settings to emulate Godhand?

>the game actually quotes this
And here I thought this game couldn't be any better.

The tank controls themselves aren't even a flaw and help make the game as crowd control heavy as it is, which is why it's so good and different from other 3D beat em ups. Just takes some getting used to, is all.

>highsidekickspamming2win: the game
shitty broken game that people only like for le epic maymays

Love the music. Not very far in though just beat elvis for what i assume is the first time.

It steals a lot though
soundcloud.com/hashtag-god/when-two-songs-are-literally-identical

Its not that great. It just has a few funny moves. I would not classify it as a beatem up. Its too strategic. Its not a good looking game. Its just another game Capcom shitted out. Its just for people looking for a game that did not sell well thats OK.

I wonder if the guy that tricked the Sup Forums hivemind into liking this game is still browsing to this day. He probably laughs everytime he sees someone call God Hand good.

Fuck off
Op it’s a legitimately good game, just give it a try and you’ll probably like it. Prepare to get that ass beat though until you figure the system out

Pajeet The Game

t. watched a meme vid and considers himself a pro
Most of the challenge is in crowd control and spamming that against crowds won't get you far unless you play it ultra defensively

Beat 'em ups used to be similarly strategic/tactical before they fucked up the transition to 3D and Devil May Cry-style games took their place.

Toribash my guy

If you can get it to click it's top 10 material easy. If it's not clicking try taking a break and coming back. For some people switching the guard break attack to its own button helps a lot so give that a try if you're struggling.

the DMC to RE4 what DMC was to RE1/2/3

Dude just try to 1CC a classic beat 'em up. Before the advent of RPG elements in the genre you had to strategize.

Highly recommend it.
Legitimately great game, easily one of my favorites. Controls take a bit of getting used to but after you put in a little time it feels so much fun to play. Biggest problem is it never really explains the universal, always available moveset to you outside of the manual itself, and that's a huge part of your toolkit.

Attached: 1413959674867.webm (720x480, 2.74M)

> I would not classify it as a beatem up.
But it is a beat-em-up
>Its too strategic.
This is your opinion. A game having a lot of depth is way fucking better than a game being shallower than a pond.
>Its not a good looking game.
Again, opinion. There were worse looking PS2 games made during its time.
>Its just another game Capcom shitted out.
It was made by Clover Studios, it was PUBLISHED by Capcom. Capcom gained the rights to it after Clover closed.
>Its just for people looking for a game that did not sell well thats OK.
Its people looking for a challenge. And wondering why this game got such a bad rap because of a gaming website because they got a dude who didn't like BMPs to review it.

It's fantastic. And funny, too.

Just find out how to do the special 'default' moves, they are very useful

That's not what a fucking wombo combo is why is everyone misusing this now

Elvis was pretty underwhelming though

I know right?

Are there any secrets in the casino?

I'm aware you can unlock drunken moves from one guy after reaching a certain point in the game, and you can also have a fun fight against the guard, but is there anything else?

Attached: 34632578e401861bb690507bbf7df74e.jpg (1024x668, 249K)

A meme through and through. I assure you, most people who replied to you haven’t beaten the game and only praise it because of Sup Forums hivemind.
God hand is fucking trash that’s plain uncomfortable to play.

>strategize
more like find the winning option and exploit it over and over and over until it's over.

So let me get this straight. Rather then realizing that people can have different opinions on things, you decided to knowingly come into a thread that was focused on a game that you did not like, just to talk shit about it. Wow man, that's sad.

And I don't know why you think people haven't beaten this game. I'm pretty sure people wouldn't be giving it such high regards if they didn't. I know I beat this game; it took me 8 months to do so because of how much it was kicking my ass. Your ass probably died once and then you just dropped it.

If you wanted to bump the thread you could have just said so

God Hand has one of the most interesting combat systems in any game of its sort (creating a "loadout" by assigning moves to whatever button input you want out of your limited slots) and a ton of style in terms of its designs, with some great music and quirky (if nonsensical) writing. That said, it's wildly unpolished and sometimes comes off as a game released before it went gold. If you can deal with some jank and lots of wackiness, you'll probably enjoy it.

In some bad ones sure(or some characters in good ones, see Mustapha), but in the for the rest there is no single winning option, you'll have to use all the moves you have depending on situation. They generally do a better job at making you use your moveset than 3D beat 'em ups.

It is uncomfortable but it's amazing either way. Most of the games in its genre are uncomfortable anyway, look at the finger gymnastics you have to do to git gud at DMC. God Hand atleast has the benefit of being a slower paced game so you don't have to do anything crazy.

The idea that you don't get HP back between stages is crazy to me.
By the time I reached the first boss(es) I had a quarter of health and no items.

They usually give you hp regen in the boss room.

I could never beat the Samurai Master without chucking all of the vases in the arena at his stupid face first.

And that was on Normal difficulty.

Should I commit ritual suicide?

Attached: 1432400791726.jpg (2792x3984, 2.22M)

No, he's a hard boss. The strategy doesn't change much between normal and hard, you've gotta stay close and not let him summon his asshole clones by spamming attacks either way. Hard just has tighter timings and if he summons them you're more fucked.

He's not that bad compared to the three stooges during a kick-me sign Hard run, at least

Well, that's good to know.

(Here's another photobombing pic. I wonder if there's more)

Attached: 1432401234580.jpg (2880x4144, 2.52M)

You can cheese three stooges easily on a KMS though.

>Rex and Felix drop down
>Run to one side of the room, and stand there
>Rex charges up and knocks Felix down, doing a bit of damage
>Run to the other side of the room
>Rinse and repeat
>Conchita comes down, do the same
>Finish up Rex

I mean, this is if you're not very good at crowd control. I never did reach the Samurai on my Hard KMS run fuck 7-2 honestly, but if I did I think he wouldn't be "too" hard. Keep to his face, and never let him multiply, and if he does the one with the shadow is the real one.
