Predict the next big thing after the battle royala fad

Predict the next big thing after the battle royala fad
we already had wow clones, mobas, card games and arena shooters (these last two to the lesser degree), and now we have a big battle royale fad.

Arena shooters was the only good one.

Open World crime simulator

yes it gave us cult classics like paladins, battleborn and lawbreakers

You realize this is the next big era of gaming right? We're going to be stuck in this rut for 4 years. Given that this is obviously true, it's pointless to speculate about what comes next. Nobody would have predicted the battle royale era, nobody will be able to predict the next era that will come after 4 years either.

funny how the platform that constantly monitors and documents it's users has the most unregulated shit on the play store

Massive open world platforms
Like a more advanced PS Home

>big era of gaming
>4 years
How is that a big era? MOBA craze has been going on for how long now

I said "was".

MMOFPS

A man can dream

Shit like second life ?

That's what we tend to with the battlefields, it's huge maps, now.

Every time something seemingly shit gets popular, it's due to children. There are important key elements: a) winning or losing is largely randomized, so kids get hooked on your light and fun gambling mechanics without anybody noticing that is't a slot machine b) it looks hardcore and skill-based, so kids don't feel like losers for playing a slot machine c) it has a wide variety of complicated mechanics each of which has zero depth. Again, kids feel like they're playing a deep hardcore game while actually just jerking the slot machine

Hasnt Destiny already tried that?

what?

Just wait for StarCraft: Battlefields™
The next epic entry into the br genre!

And dont forget to look out for Valve's new genre defining br experience: Team Fortress Royale™

Next Gen Augmented Reality

but my friends play it and they're around 25
everywhere I go people keep pestering me about this game

Which part did you not understand? MOBAs are 16 years old now

People of all ages love gambling. But it's especially effective on children because they're the stupidest ones and they don't see blatant randomization staring in their face, they keep trying to "master" the random game.

It will be something that will combine loot boxes into the real life, probably a pc game with a heavy smartphone support.
Maybe finding lootboxes in real life and transporting the content to the game or something.

Remember MAG?

Almost but not quite. It's still more of a lobby game imo.

The craze only lasted for 4 years nincompoop.

Role playing games will finally get that one game to skyrocket them upwards.
Wasn't an MMO. Instanced matches that lasted like 40-45 minutes. MMOFPS is Planetside 1/2, or that Huxley game from a LONG time ago that turned into Korean trash

Yes. Thank you for reminding me faggot.

not vidya

Planetside 2 still exists.

It didn't user, you're just underage. MOBAs were already hugely popular when Dota 2 came around and that was 5 years ago. League of Legends is 9 years old

shit game
tribes and planetside already did it better

>arena shooters
I feel there are two distinct types of those
Shit like overwatch and shit like tf2

But TF2 is the only one in the second category so the next big thing will be more TF2 style games.

BR hasnt even peaked yet. It still has awhile on top

I'm not sure what else can be done with multiplayer games, I'd like to see something like MMOFPS like suggested, but I don't think the technology is there yet. I really wish we could've seen a multplayer Fallout attempted because I imagine it would be something like that

its going into open beta soon breh
forum.escapefromtarkov.com/topic/26-sum-up-of-interview-for-grindfm/

Too bad it's trash

I will accept team fortress royal only if everybody is scout.

>I'm not sure what else can be done with multiplayer games
Are you kidding me? We haven't done anything yet other than make people go pew pew at each other

Dota 2 has been playable to the public since late 2011. By the time they left "beta" in 2013, the game was probably around 250-300k concurrent players daily.
also this. BR hasn't peaked. Fortnite won't go anywhere since its F2P and very different from what I expect developers to copy. PUBG is on the brink of destruction before E3, where people will hijack anyone looking for a first person only BR with realistic weapons/setting.

>implying you've played it

>paladins, battleborn, lawbreakers
>arena shooters
underaged

Maybe in 2022 it will actually be an MMO and not an instance-based online shooter

Ar is the future but it's useless for Vidya. It's meant for productive shit and also porn.

Shit like Quake.

There is stuff like Arma 3 RP or GTA RP.

Pachinko.

Well lets see some ideas amigo

Obviously theres alot of things that haven't been attempted, doesn't mean I have any ideas

>arena shooter
>overwatch or tf2
You don't understand what arena shooter means, user.

some one tried it and fucked it up pretty bad.
>APB Reloaded

Did anything good even come out of digging up space games again?

I feel like mech games will be the next niche genre that will be dug up again, but everyone will just make genre spinoffs of current games (survival, hero shooter, etc) with a robot skin and none of the fun shit or depth that made the older games cool.

>even mentioning wow clones and arena shooters
hi, 2010 called

>slav game

It will be full of great ideas but will be totally broken upon release

You have gundam vs.

I did. I got scammed into spending 140 bucks to play it. I'd really enjoy the game if it wasn't so flawed.

>netcode
>armor unbalance
>hit reg
>no matchmaking balance
>people can randomly spawn next to each other
>people randomly spawn in a match that's already started

>bought it

no refunds lul

I don't know, dragon battles. There you go, I'm sure there's an amazing game waiting to happen in a budding online dragon battle simulation genre

No, that's just how they got everyones hopes up

I still play it and have fun with it but the devs have yet to fix major issues with the game

Gotta be either a new concept or something that hasnt been used in a while.

Metroidvanias, Roguelikes/lites are already gone

I'm hoping for super sentai multiplayer games, Warframe left a bad taste.

It's a shit high speed nu mecha action game, we need old school heavy mechas that barely move and have weight. Otherwise what's the point in having mechas

The new fad will be cancelling games. Xbox is in the league

Warframe was alright for awhile, but after you've done the same 6 mission types 100 times, it gets really old.

It's not a bad idea, but you forget that if it were to blow up, you'd have a massive scaley community to go along with it.

Are you prepared for that?

Colosseum Battle Royal

If Star Citizen takes off this might be the case. But it has to be a complete state which will take about another 2 decades.

>The videogame industry becomes about not actually releasing video games.

Sup Forums's renaissance

I know, but it's not really a huge game outside of japan. It's only japan porting their arcade games to ps4 like with Border Break or Virtual On.

those aren't arena shooters dipshit

GTA6.

whatever is even more casual than Battle Royale

But then isn't it just a tank game ?
I don't play it myself but it's like any fighting game, you need to find locals, I know some people who are playing it.

with the recent success of monster hunter world i really hope that it becomes boss rush games

Le ebin deep meta games
see: undertale and doki doki literature club

With all these shitty Battle Royale games, why isn't there a long-forgotten survival based one with very few guns and a focus on melee weapons and stealth like the real Battle Royale?

Monster Hunter clones, with the MHW pc release and, to a lesser extent, Dauntless kicking it off.

Could anyone have predicted BR back in 2011 when mobas were just starting to get big?

This user is up to something.
>MMOs were just a casual and fast paced version of CRPGs
>MOBAS were just a casual and fast paced version of RTS
>BR are just a casual and fast paced version of modern shooters

for what ever reason ARK also jumped on the mobile bandwagon which I didnt expect. lit nothing can get worse then when they tried to make games episodic that shit didnt fly at all.

I don't even understand how ARK is so popular. I can at least understand why people would enjoy BRs but ARK just looks awful.

It'll be a sort of factions\gang war GTA style multiplayer.

Competitive online match 3s

>You realize this is the next big era of gaming right? We're going to be stuck in this rut for 4 years.
I'm fine with this if someone makes a semi-high production value hotkey based fantasy BR, so I can get my open pvp mmorpg fix

It'll be like that robot wars show cross with arena shooters
