Nier: Automata

Is this the greatest game ever created? Will the gaming industry ever be able to top this masterpiece, or is this the peak?

A game like this should have good combat before being heralded as "the greatest game ever created"

>nier automata doesn't have good combat
gosh, normies say the darndest things

>Is this the greatest game ever created?
If you're a pasty virgin who has never gotten laid, then sure.

If I wanted watered down platinum combat and bullet hell I'd just swap out between platinum's transformers game and touhou every five minutes

Saying that Nier Automata has good combat would actually be the normie option, because I don't think there's a single thing in that game that's well balanced.

I enjoyed it, but it really isn't anything that special

Unironically yes.

Its a amazing experience, but its lacking in gameplay

There is literally nothing that great in the game. It is still over the top anime crap. I find it difficult to take a story seriously when i tries to touch difficult, philosophical questions like the meaning of life with french maids, gigantic swords, mechas and stupid Nietzsche quotes.

I liked Nier:A but the fanbase is taking it too far

plus the game is broken on PC (eve with FAR mod).

yes, and taro will top it with drakengard 4

It’s the first game in a LONG time that left an impression on me. I felt inspired and had to contemplate how good it was like a full day after while at work. It’s definitely one of the better games in the last decade or so. Nothing has left that kind of impression on me since Snake Eater.

as opposed to a virgin who has gotten laid

What, I didn't know it was connected with Drakengard...

Nier is one of the possible endings for the series, so the "canon" ending is probably the one that leads do NieR. Pretty crazy.

Drakengard 1's leads into the events of the first NieR.
Drakengard 2 was not made my Yoko Taro and is a generic shitty game following on from the first ending of Drakengard 1, do not play this game, it's just shit.
Drakengard 3 is a distant prequel to Drakengard 1.
NieR is a distant prequel to Automata.
There are a bunch of supplementary novellas and other things like the stage play that fill in the story outside the games.

>Is this the greatest game ever created?
No, but its amusing that a low budget nippon game with graphics from 2008 has superior gameplay experience and story then AAA games these days.

I'm hoping square gives him final fantasy or a AAA tier budget, since you its not gonna be a standard game. Even if it turns out bad its different from other games.

Nier: Automata 2 will be better.

Not even the best game released in 2017.

>those hands
Wait, is Yoko Taro a woman?

Not even the best game in the series, maybe try other Taro games sometime

what video is this image from

I'm so confused about how Square is handling this game. It's getting good sales, praise not just from the games industry but outside of it, finally brought mainstream appeal to a Taro game without removing what makes his games unique...

And they still won't fucking patch the PC version. For some reason, while the world continues to celebrate the game, Square seems to have lost all interest.

I'm sad I didn't get the Day One edition and I have zero hope of the DLC being available for sale later since Square seems to have forgotten this game happened at all.

What's wrong with the PC version?

no hes a middle aged man

It's just a tad buggy with the resolution settings but naturally there is a mod that fixes everything

>Less than a month later Breath of the wild came out.

> the game is broken on PC (eve with FAR mod).
daily reminder that Sup Forums thinks it's ok when FROM does this

What do i do? I've only had 1 game runs THIS badly before and it was DaS3 which is programmed by monkeys.

Automata combat is passable but if you've played any other modern Platinum game it just shows all the more how they're becoming one trick pony as a developer. It's actually even worse since mechanically Automata has less stuff than Bayonetta or Rising, while also suffering from the less than stellar RPG stuff and very wonky difficulty selection where Easy and Normal are babby's first vidya tier whereas Hard becomes the gimmick difficulty because everything one or two shots you out of full HP, that is remedied by stacking mercy invincibility and damage resistance, then spamming healing items. Bad balancing in general.

install FAR mod

It works okay with a third party mod but that shouldn't be necessary.

I personally get occasional lockups during cutscenes but for most people the mod in question avoids that.

The point is, Nier received absolutely no post release support on PC, even with what would be a massive issue if FAR didn't exist (resolution bug.) We did get the $13 arena DLC though.

NieR Automata, best game ever? Are you fucking kidding me, fag?

People who think Automata is anything other than mediocre have never actually played a taro or platinum game in their lives and their ignorant opinions need to be ignored.

>less memorable characters than NieR and DoD
>strong narrative but poor execution, a lot of the story is held behind the play reading extra material
>god awful bosses
>terrible enemy variety
>combat system is Bayonetta's combat system re-purposed by the B team for the 10th time
>OST is not as good as NieR's

Just fucking stop already. I know you ironic weeb trash can't get enough of your dogshit meme waifu, but the game is mediocre.

>>less memorable characters than NieR and DoD
>less memorable characters than DoD
yeah, sure

god, you fucking taro or platinum or whatever hipsters are the worst

To be fair you need a pretty high IQ to understand Robot Ass Shooty Slash

The reason the game is successful is because it strikes a balance between those elements. It has better than average combat AND better than average story AND better than average characters AND better than average open world AND better than average music, etc.

There are games that do those individual elements better, yes, but this game is unique in that it does all of those elements well.

Game is trash. Fuck off underage cancer.

>normies
You have to go back

Congrats on taking the bait you fucking sperg.

Lackluster bosses was probably the worst offending thing Automata did, especially considering the developer. The opera one and the whole penultimate final boss sequence where you keep switching between 9S and A2 were pretty nice but all the others felt like Platinum really phoned it in.

However I think that overall Automata is definitely better than OC Nier: if there's one thing Automata did right while staying true to original gameplay was the repurposing of magic as different pod attacks and chargeable special abilities. Automata also does its varying gimmicks of marrying story and gameplay better, even though certain things were also shamelessly recycled.

OC Nier mostly stood out on its B playthrough, and even then it didn't add any actual new gameplay or other content into the mix, whereas Automata has you play as a different character and later on adds more different content in general.
