Why do people believe Sans could make it into Sma5h? He has just as much chances to do so as Doomguy, minecraft pixels or Solaire. His game isn't even out on Switch yet. He has literally nothing to do with Nintendo, so why?

It’s hard to say if Dillon can make it in due to it being developed by one of the smaller noname studios as an eshop exclusive.

Granted he’s the only eshop IP to suddenly make a return, most others get a surge of games within 2-3 years and then dies but here’s Dillon coming back after 5 years

undertale is very literally a ripoff of earthbound. the creators first project was an earthbound hack.

The gimmicks are important enough that you could make viable clones with the rest of the cast. Ribbon Girl with an extra jump. Ninjara with a *teleports behind you* up-b. And so on.

It would be super disappointing and weird to do model swaps instead. Unlike the koopalings, the Arms cast isn't a 'set', so it would be really weird to group them up into a set like that. Even among the ones that are close in size they're hugely varied. Plus you've admitted you'd have to skip over a bunch of the cast, so now you're just arbitrarily adding model swaps purely to increase ARMS content, while simultaneously ignoring everything about the game.

A springtron costume for springman is plausible, though.

It has a longer development time than smash 4 if we assume Sakurai started after Bayonetta released

Yeah, this project was already lined up before Smash 4 DLC was finished (he mentioned as such in January 2016, before the last of the DLC released in February 2016). He said that he was going to take a "short breather" first but it's hard to figure out what that means for a guy like Sakurai. He definitely started work in 2016 though because he mentioned as such in a November interview. That means Smash 5 can clock in at anywhere from 2+ to 3- years of dev time compared to Smash 4's 2.5 years (?). Not too shabby. It certainly doesn't line up with the idea of it being a port, enhanced or otherwise.

But what's got me interested is that Bandai Namco "Smash 6" job listing back in mid-2014. It may be the case that this Smash got something closer to 4 years if they've been working all this time.
