>protagonist of the first game becomes the main antagonist in the sequel
>the reasoning behind their role change is always retarded
Are there any video games to manage to do this right?
Protagonist of the first game becomes the main antagonist in the sequel
Don't lie to yourself user. You know That Alex Mercer was right. If we all became part of a hive mind the world would be a better place. 1 body 1 mind.
devil may cry 4 kinda
it looked like dante was going to be the villain until about halfway through the game
What? No it didn't??
Literally after the first fight you can already tell he's just doing this half assed mentor role
I'm still holding out a tiny amount of hope that a new prototype game will be made and they will just pretend that the second game never happened
Honestly I couldn't even be mad about it being half-assed because Dante absolutely would half-ass it.
Not only that but Heller was a terrible replacement.
>first game you were trying to find out who you were and unravel the conspiracy of the Blacklight virus and Blackwatch
>slowly work your way up the chain of command and discover the truth
>second game
>MUH DEAD WIFE AND KID
I'm also still incredibly salty at what they did to the Blackwatch soldiers designs. The combat was more fun though and combining powers was neat.
Would we get to play as Pariah?
The problem is that his turn into a villain literally happened in a contrived tie-in comic.
>that part where you help blacklight while disguised as one of them
>they sound like bros just doing their job
>the writer suddenly hamfists "hurr we kill babies for fun" out of the blue
I love the first game, played through it multiple times, but never gave the second one much thought. Is it really that bad?
Mercer was always pretty evil.
But he wasn't a mustache-twirling edgelord in P1.
Nah, it's just exactly the same as the second game
>Would we get to play as Pariah?
Either that or he would be the final boss.
It ticks me off that they spent the whole first game building up Pariah as some scary shit and then they just ignore it in the second game
It's not bad as far as gameplay goes compared to the original (although missing some things, it gains some others), but it feels like some other team was pulled in to work on the sequel rather than the same group that worked on the first game, especially the writers
Yes he was. He was willing to let everyone die out of spite. Did you not play the game, user-kun?
It's blander than 1 and the movement is more "automatic" in a bad way (auto targeting is more aggressive and annoying), but it has some new abilities.
It's just the writing that got worse. Also quicktime events and muh cinematic bullshit.
The second game is fun if you just play with the Alex Mercer Reskin and ignore the story
>I have a feeling it might be extraordinary bad if they ever met face to face
Such wasted potential. The tutorial of breaking out of containment is right there. Hell I'd be alright with a slower paced style game compared to the explosive action of the adult prototypes if we could play as pint sized killer.
Alex mercer was a evil cunt
the virus that thought he was mercer wasn't. He wasnt beneath eating some innocents, but he tanked a nuke to try to save the city and was thinking about how to control and stop the hivemind
>had to read a not so great comic to see why Mercer turned into a big ol meanie
Other than that the games played pretty fine.
Especially 2.
>eating innocents
>not living on a diet of cops, marines, blackwatch scientists, and infected
>[/spoiler]tfw never ever
Does Golden Sun count?
Metal Gear Solid did the protagonist to main villain thing pretty well.
If we pretend MGSV doesn't exist
Not just that, but the
>MUH DEAD WIFE AND KID DRIVE
Literally turns him into a discount black Kratos. I haven't read the tie-in comic yet, but for fuck's sake, they could have improved on what Mercer was as a protagonist.
I know he wasn't the best, but at least his dialogue didn't consist of 80% swearwords.
>I haven't read the tie-in comic yet
SPOILERS: It's shit and an asspull of a hamfist
Literally Crossed tier.
