nice just bought 100k
Got it on sale still my fav game.
It’s the worst game ever made.
>It’s the most BADASS(TM) game ever made.
Got it on sale for 3 bucks and I refunded it, I would rather play Halo 3 with an 360 controller without the cushioning on the analog sticks then play DNF again
noob
DNF has way better multiplayer
I got a copy at Gamestop for literally 99 cents. And that was less than a year after release.
DNF is a great game. I seriously am not sure what people were expecting. I replay it every once in a while and still find new shit to interact with.
Look how much they charged for Duke Fucking 3D when a previous version with MORE CONTENT was previously on the market for cheaper. Fuck you, Randy!
Being built around 2 weapons gutted the fucking game. But that's Broussard's fault, not Gearbox.
It's about time people realize it's a decently enjoyable game when you ignore previous iterations and expectations based off those.
>It's about time people realize it's a decently enjoyable game when you ignore previous iterations and expectations based off those.
It's only the 2nd Duke FPS, what's to base it off of? They nailed the characterization. The world building is even great.
>Being built around 2 weapons gutted the fucking game
I can see this, that being said they patched it to have 4 gunslots.
>it’s fine if you ignore the bad parts
I meant previous DNF iterations.
The only bad parts are the short puzzles.
>I can see this, that being said they patched it to have 4 gunslots.
It only helps. It doesn't fix the underlying problem that they don't lay secrets everywhere with modest amounts of rare ammo like in Duke 3D that really reward you for looking under every rock. If you stumble across a secret it's just a full gun or something for your inventory. I don't know if this makes sense as a criticism, but I prefer earning my nickles and dimes to spend wherever I want, not a whole new gun around every corner.
Duke 3D is designed better but one good thing about the 2 weapon limit is that it makes the game harder.
I forgot that the other bad parts are some parts of dialogue you can't skip.
>one good thing about the 2 weapon limit is that it makes the game harder.
The weapons are too even. As long as you have a gun you can grab, you can get through with whatever's laying around.
On hardest difficulty you're basically going to have to unload the whole mag at the alien's face with the pistol, unless you're very precise. Ripper takes up most of the magazine to kill 1 or 2 aliens if you're aiming at the head. Shotgun can instant skill so is very valuable, but only up close. RPG only has 5 shots, Devestator only has 69, Railgun will enrage a pigcop and be fully healed afterwards if you shoot it in the head and there's only 12 shots with the railgun with 3 per magazine. The guns aren't very strong except for the shotgun on the hardest difficulty unless you combine pipebombs or tripmines with them.
The game is criminally underrated and was only hated because people thought it would be the greatest game of all time after being in development for so long. The hatred for it is a meme by the masses that never actually played it.
>mfw Dukeburger
Randy i know that are you
He didn't call it "badass" at every opportunity, it ain't Randy.
No, it can't be Randy. Randy obviously didn't care about the IP or he wouldn't have just shat it out as is. That guy is obviously George Broussard.
George Broussard detested how Gearbox handled the game, actually. He tweeted them some time ago.
Oh? I'd be curious to hear what Gearbox did wrong since Broussard's embracing of "modern" shooter conventions got them in most of their troubles. DNF 2001 could have been amazing.
Initially what got DNF delayed was new engines, not gameplay features. The 2001 version was mostly done, according to current 3D Realms but they wanted to utilize a new engine for lighting and textures but that meant mostly redoing everything. New engines were the big delays, adding new gameplay mechanics and what-not from other games were smaller delays.
This is what an user manipulated by the Jews would say.
Accounts from his fellow developers stated Broussard always wanted the latest thing in every shooter that came to market, so they'd joke about not letting him play new games. While engine changing is obviously the biggest setback, George totally screwed the pooch and destroyed what Douk should have been.
this
I don't know, the 2009 version seemed like the older ones. It really seems like Gearbox just demanded everything done or nearly done to be shipped, which meant dumbed down levels and everything. Look at this video of the 2009 build; no weapon limit and no regen health:

You know, I'm suspicious of Gearbox and Randy as much as anyone. But Broussard CLEARLY fucked up getting DNF pushed back as many times as he did. I'm not willing to give him a free pass for that just because I hate Randy.
I'd even go so far as to say it's George's fault Duke is in Randy's hands now, because DNF would have saved 3DRealms without Gearbox's assistance.
Sadest post I've seen in a while. Like actually imagine being this guy
Got mine for 99 cents at GameStop
Quit lying LGR you bought it full price.
Didn't you good little shill?
