I think the newly announced games will be Animal Crossing, Pikmin 4, and Luigi's Mansion 3. We might get the Pokemon titles with coming 2019 and "stay tuned for a direct in August" or some later month.

Where do third parties even fit in with this? Nintendo had 4 new games announced at last years E3, I don't doubt they will be able to do at least as much this year.

It's going to be focused on Super Smash Bros., like it was for Odyssey last year and BOTW the year before that. There will be other new game announcements but Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon will NOT make an appearance. The intent is to have media attention fully on smash which will essentially get the BOTW 2016 treatment: Trailer(s) as well as Treehouse and some of the developers talking about the game and some of its features in more depth. It will be playable on the floor, but not sure if there will be an invitational tournament or not.

I remember when Nintendo's closest thing to a hardcore title at E3 was Animal Crossing (the Wii Music/Barbie year) and everybody lost their minds with anger. Nowadays, from the way people clamor for Animal Crossing Switch, I think they could actually get away with calling Animal Crossing a major hardcore release.
It would certainly be a major release.
It's gonna be huge E3 for them but I don't think Pokemon is gonna make it, they need something big for next year.
Animal crossing has become one of their biggest IP's since new leaf's success, especially in Japan.

How do you hype up Animal Crossing? Don't get me wrong I want a Switch AC but that is not the kind of game Nintendo ends an E3 on, not in this era
