Is this a good entry point to the musou genre?
Is this a good entry point to the musou genre?
Good entry point? Sure, if you like Berserk.
It's not the best but it's solid. The Femto boss fight is kinda BS though...
I'd recommend Attack on Titan as well.
No, its actually a trash Musou cash-in like the Fist Of The North Star musou game they made
Play one of the Dynasty warriors games instead, they are a lot more polished
Isn't Dynasty Warriors 9 trash though?
It's not good. If you want a good entry point try out hyrule warriors.
I liked it, had fun playing it. It's also really nice that it goes further into the story than the movies/anime. I never read the manga so it was nice to finally get to see the "Black Swordsman", and meet some of the other characters, like Schierke and Serpico.
Definitely makes me wanna get the manga.
No, it's the worst musou game out there.
8 Extreme Legends for the mainline games and Pirate Warriors 3 for the adaptions would be a good starting point.
Also stay away from the Fate one. It's not much better than Berserk.
Yes. DW8, SW4, or WO3 are probably the best ones for modern consoles. Die hard fans would probably urge you to go back to the PS2.
Best current entry points to Musou:
>Dynasty Warriors 8XL
>Pirate Warriors 3
>Hyrule Warriors (get the switch version if you can)
>Dragon Quest Heroes 2
>Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2/3 (3 for pure gameplay because the story is SRW style where characters from different series arbitrarily split into factions, 2 is better if you're not familiar with but interested in Gundam as a whole because it provides cursory knowledge of the franchises it features for the most part)
There is no good entry point to the musou genre
>All this hate for the Berserk musou
Anyone care to explain why it's bad? It was fun to me. Obviously it's not the best musou, but it's certainly not a bad game, y'all over exaggerate too much.
Don't mind them. They're just mad Berserk wasnt some dark souls ripoff.
Pretty small roster and lacking in a lot of content overall. Didn't even really try to introduce any kind of unique mechanics or gimmicks to make it stand out from just being another musou with a Berserk skin. I'm sure if they do a sequel they'll probably double the roster and add a lot more things, but as it stands now there's no reason to play it over any other musou unless you're just a huge Berserk fan.
>2 is better if you're not familiar with but interested in Gundam as a whole because it provides cursory knowledge of the franchises it features for the most part
It also has shitloads of stuff to do and legit huge maps instead of rooms connected by corridors.
>Didn't even really try to introduce any kind of unique mechanics or gimmicks to make it stand out from just being another musou with a Berserk skin.
Sounds like a great starting point to me, if you like Berserk...
Best Dinasty Warriors on ps2 ?
Devil Kings
>they'll probably double the roster
Wow. That would be like 16 playable characters. Amazing.
Yeah, map design in 2 is a lot better than 3.
2's biggest weakness is that anything less than an "Ace" suit (protagonist/antagonist suits primarily) feels like fucking ASS to because they lack the ability to do emergency cancels.
3 fixes this so that grunt/commander suits are at least consistent with ace suits in how they control.
> probably double the roster
Nigga, licensed spin-off sequels always add TON more characters. Problem with Berserk is there's literally no point in making a sequel yet seeing as the original game covered a lot of the story.
Playing Musou Gundams for their story is ass because they present the absolute cliff notes version I have no idea how someone not already familiar with the franchise is supposed to get anything out of. In comparison Berserk and Pirate Warriors 3 are probably the ones that stuck to storylines the most.
