I'd like to know this as well, was just thinking about starting to work on some sprites for a project of mine.

I think I read somewhere that the artist for Risk of Rain did all of his work in MS Paint, but I'm sure there must be specialized programs for such things.

MS Paint.
I have no fucking idea how GIMP works and FireAlpaca crashes whenever I try to export anything.

I'm using Adobe PS CC2018 myself but that's because I have to pay for the whole Adobe CC products since I'm an infographist.

I think Paint net. I tried a bunch at the rec of people here then I switched PC and I'm not entirely sure if it was the good one or not.
I remember Gimp was insanely terrible, awful UI, crashed.
Aesprite seemed okay going by the trial but not good enough to want to pay for it given I'm not doing anything complex enough to care about its extra features.
Then there was one that lacked basic options like erasing which may have been paint net
And then the good one, which I think was paint net but could have been something else. The good one had a good UI, lacked no features and didn't crash.

GRAPHICSGALE

I'm really liking aesprite, you have to pay for it though

these are terrible and also not FUCKING VIDEO GAMES

making sprites is video game related if it's for a game you have in mind though.

nevermind it's some user that made it and you don't even play as her

Literally mspaint

but you play as the Succ.

you mean ?

You keep posting these same mediocre sprites with the same boring pose, have you even started progress on making a game?

I like them

I can't make the game without improving my sprite first.

>mods deleted my post
wew

Man, sprite porn is just so much better than normal porn.

Yeah you can, use devsprites

Aseprite is objectively the best

>What's your favorite software to make pixel art/sprites?
GraphicsGale for low-res work
Clip Studio if the base image is hi-res or the sprite has been upscaled to paint over for a bit, but you can use anything like Photoshop or GIMP for that really

I don't want to use someone else's sprite.

At least as placeholders. You can't just keep stalling the rest of the development until you think the sprites are good enough.

You don't have to, just draw up some sketches

That looks pretty fluid. I like it.

thanks my dude

Which is the best way of recreating the pre-rendered Donkey Kong Country look? I have models in blender that I want to convert to sprites. The closest solution I've found is the pixel filter in photoshop but I don't like the results.

What is the best way to create character portrait?

Draw it, downscale it, index it, colour it

The absolute best way would be to digitally paint it

this just keep your shit to the dev generals

These threads suck when only two people post spriteart in them, come on people post your work

fuck you and your shitty pixel shit I've seen you spam this many times so I know to avoid this when you actually start shilling something other than just your shitty sprites

Don't tell me what I can do and can't do.

I'm not telling you what to do
your sprites suck and I will autistically call out the shilling if it eventually happens

>he thinks there will ever be anything other than gameless sprites

if I stop spriting because a few anons try to bring me down like you try to do then I won't improve ever and I want to improve. I don't have as much free time as I would like to.

I'm not trying to put you down I am saying that if you actually start shilling something I will be vocal and autistic about it because fuck shilling

Even if it's good?

yes, shilling is cancer

Is that a motherfucking vermin

nice

if I don't shill, how am I suppose to get feedback to improve the shit sprites?

Judging from the sprites you've posted, the game you are working on has a sexual nature to it. Problem with porn games, however, is that having good art is 100% necessary unless it's text-based

There are generals for stuff like this

I am talking about actual products that may or may not happen

not that I think this is your personal blogging platform so you might as well post in the dev generals or something, I don't really care but there's absolutely no need for you to spam threads about your garbage

You aren't looking for feedback, you're just attention whoring and it's annoying.

>Sup Forums threads on Sup Forums is the way to seek advice
nah you're just spamming your shit and it'll backfire if you make an actual game because you'll be called out immediately

>download a bunch of sprite making apps
>pay for a couple of the apps
>doesn't suddenly give me the skill to make characters
>cry myself to sleep

You go to Pixeljoint and Way Of The Pixel where they'll give you strenuous critique on your work and then you run crying because they don't immediately give you a free pass owing to "uuuhhhm i like... the Big Boober"

I don't spam.

if you do you can be sure that I'll be there autistically screeching because I really hate shilling

I'm still talking about an actual product here, one that may or may not happen

Yes, you do.
