Truth here, Berseria cast is overrated Xillia cast was much better. Combat was actually fun too.

I'm 40 hours in and the combat it's so god damn boring, even at hardest difficulty, liked the story but the whole gameplay it's boring as hell, combat, puzzles, everything

In Xillia button inputs are individual moves that you string together to make your own combo where in Berseria you have to set moves to the second and third presses of the same button or whatever

The story is definitely better in the first game in my opinion
I resent the new mc for having to be in the party at all times and the 2nd game won't even let you switch party members in fights and most of the story railroads you into having only a portion of the party at any one time
I did actually end up liking the mc though because of all the grief the game gives him already

I honestly loved Xillia 2's story, if only because I'm a sucker for time travel and dimension hopping. And in Xillia 2's case, it's constantly filled with suffering.

Eh, they're not really well written, even for the series' admittedly low standards, and the story is really only worthwhile if you care about what happens to Jude and Milla before Xillia 2, and even so it's full of retarded shit, though the character interactions are probably the lowest points, especially Jude and Alvin's schizophrenic "friendship".

And what he's saying is that combat in Berseria boils down to entirely stagger locking, as opposed to other games where character moveset, positioning, careful chaining, pokes, and other things actually mattered, and this is without considering games like Innocence R or Hearts R that have counter mechanics for the enemies so they can break your combo strings, Berseria has none of those things.

That's weird, all I ever hear is praise about the story for these games. I got a copy of Tales of Abyss for 3DS from a friend but I didn't play more than like 20 minutes, not for any real reason but it didn't really grab me in any way and the combat didn't feel like anything special at all. But then I hear that Abyss is one of the best ones almost all the time.

Combat is either way too easy (if using Velvet) or way too hard (if using anyone else)

I would play Xillia 1 because otherwise I don't think you would find it as funny how much the 2nd game shits on Alvin for being such a bitch in the first game

This is the same place that will tell you how Berseria's characters are amazing because omg!!!111!! they tease each others111!!!111 ebin bantz !1!!! just like any other Tales of ever made.
Tales' stories are an excuse to frame the gameplay at best, outside of some rare entry where the story is actually alright like Destiny or Rebirth, the characters are the same too, you get some game where they nail them and actually give some nice characterization like in Legendia or again, Rebirth, but most of the time you're dealing with an average anime cast for kids or teens.

I emulated it last year with minimal issues. It wasn't all that great. In fact I almost dropped it halfway thru because it literally takes 20 hours for anything good to happen.

Why is that hard to believe? PS3 emulation has been steady for a couple years now for several titles. Vesperia isn't exactly pushing graphical hardware to new heights.

If I recall, Vesperia was known to be a problem game when it came to emulation, with constant black screens during the menus and the freezing. Not to mention it ran slow as fuck.
