It's a fun base building and swimming game. One of the very few water levels done right. It definitely needs more content since you'll have seen every fish after a few hours, but what it is right now is good except the main character's design, which you literally never actually see in the game above the neck.

That depends. Do you like:

> survival
> base building
> driving subs
If you like the above, you'll like most of Subnautica.
Because it was only meant to be a demonstrator of the teams ability to make a survival + base building game, it lacks a real end game. There is one, but it is very rushed if you look at it objectively. However, it seems most users that enjoy the game, like the ending.
The game is strong on exploring, mystery, and jump scares because you are in a 3D environment and tend to get attacked out of what seems "nowhere". However, the game is extremely survivable in those conditions. But there are some really "oh fuck no!" panicing deaths for players along the way.
There is a general shitstorm of hate and resentment about the game because of how some things were handled IRL by some of its devs.
It is a fun game if you like what I listed. If you don't, you will probably not like it.
If you really want to know about a game, you are better off watching a Let's Play of the game and deciding for yourself then asking the internet, since you have zero clues what people's preferences are and what they liked in the past. Without that, their "It's the worst shit released that year" or "Its a 11 out of 10" ratings are worthless.

to lazy to explain, but i'll tell you this:
I've been gaming since the late 90-s. Out of all the games that released over the last 5 years only 2 games genuinly made me go "WoW! That's really cool!". The first one was Witcher 3 (however imperfect, still got me shocked simply by the ammount of content) and the other was Subnautica.
The first five minutes after I built my submarine, when I first realized how big it is, then - that I can build inside it. And then when I tested all the systems it had - I was excited almost as much as I was 20 years ago when I started my first Fallout game.
