Fighting games

Why is this even allowed? Ed Boon was decimated by the fighting game community for additional DLC character packs, yet people like Harada are still celebrated, while charging $8 for a character that's massively out of place. Are you more inclined to purchase "complete editions"? What is your opinion on anime fighters where multiple DLC packs are announced before the game even launches? How do you feel about EVO? Which games should be at Evo? Which games should be banned from Evo?

Because people have no taste.

Thats all you need to know.

Noctis looked fun as hell.

You normies will never understand people who play video games.

>2 characters over the course of 9 months

Wow my wallet can't handle all this dlc

The complete editions come out way later, so you're way behind people willing to put up with the DLC bullsit

Ed Boon caught shit because NRS games have fucking dozens of DLC packs that don't stop coming out. Tekken 7 has 1 DLC pack. You can buy one character for 8 bucks or you can buy 3 characters and get Tekken bowling for 25 bucks. Anime games typically don't have more than a couple DLC characters either, DBFZ is basically the only one to have a sizeable DLC release and that's because it's a fucking Dragon Ball game.

Pertnership between bro developers and nothing more.

Noctis actually isn't that bad in the game.

>Eight bucks
I remember when DLC characters costed from two to five bucks at most.

I feel like that's much worse since at least with NRS your getting more characters for you money compared to Tekken.

>why is post launch content allowed
are you mentally disabled or something?
thats not what ed boon was criticized for at all. kill yourself faggot.

As someone who's played fighting games since arcade days, I've decided to just give up on them. So many other genres of games that aren't so grueling and tedious to learn. So many less time-consuming games that rewquire just as much, if not more thought per match as in a FG. The FGC eats up whatever is thrown at them and plays on shitty consoles while acting superior about the platform. It's honestly more reliving to just play a different genre.

>Ed Boon was decimated by the fighting game community for additional DLC character packs
He announced 8 before release and the complete edition of the game was more than twice the price of the base game. This game has 3 (+2 new stages). Don't get me wrong it's still a shitty business practice but you can surely see the difference here.

lmao what

Do you play fighting games? Capcom DLC characters were always 5 bucks minimum, ArcSys characters have always been 8 bucks. SNK usually charges 5, Tekken follows ArcSys and goes for 8. No one ever charged 2 bucks for a DLC character unless they were a pre-order bonus.

So basically you couldnt get gud so youre blaming the genre, got it.

>So basically you couldnt get gud so youre blaming the genre
Clearly you didn't get it because that wasn't implied at all. I said it was grueling and tedious to get good at one, and even once you got to that point it was about as stimulating as playing any other PvP game. Then the community's full of condescending fuckwads like yourself.
The genre's not worth the investment.

Each developer has different practices. Just how shit is. Like okay NRS DLC is cheaper per character, but there's also way more of it so it's more expensive overall and then you're also stuck playing an NRS game. Tekken DLC is more expensive per character but there's less of it. You don't have to learn 12 new matchups every 3 months and it's a less expensive investment. Also Tekken is a much better game in general.

I love this kind of shit Japan devs do

What a faggot. You were the first one to throw stones you weak willed bitch.

>wahhhh let me talk shit about you but don't say anything back and hurt my feelings :(

Fuck you, you limp wristed cumbucket.

what a nonsensical post

>yet people like Harada are still celebrated, while charging $8 for a character that's massively out of place.
Stop with your dumb devil's advocate. Only retards are happy about buying characters.
Personally, I hate it. I was just lucky with mine because I ordered the normal version of T7 and got the deluxe version instead, for the same price. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy a character. I'm pretty pissed that Geese made it in, I think he's such a cool character but to be locked behind DLC is upsetting.

Makes sense that someone who is too stupid to get better at fighting games can't understand a very simple post.

Honestly Noct looks more at home in Tekken with his fashion and hair than he does in FF.

>The FGC eats up whatever is thrown at them
Even after the flop that was Marvel Infinite you guys are still making this argument?

>wahhh the FGC are so mean to me it's the entire genre and all the people who enjoy it who is at fault, not me!
It always boils down to this in the end on here, huh?

Outside of trolling for the sake of it, no one gives two shits if NRS adds a bunch of DLC characters.

In fact, most of the time you get the opposite in people complaining that you only get 8, and never release any other DLC ever again and let the game die, since the game isn't a game service thing like SFV currently is.

No one cares about DLC for fighting games unless it's so horrible that it offends people, like Blastois in Pokken, if anyone actually still gave a shit about that game.

Again, didn't say anything about them being mean or imply I couldn't get good, so you're about as worth arguing with as the other user.

Is everyone just going to ignore that it isn't $8 for Noctis but a pack of content including Noctis?

>Included in this add-on are Noctis Lucis Caelum as a playable character, as well as costumes for Noctis and a new stage. Noctis Lucis Caelum will also become playable in DLC1's new mode, 'Ultimate TEKKEN BOWL.'

As a long time FG player since the days of arcades, I think the reason is simple. Boon caught flak because is a filthy baka gaijin developer, while faggots defend Kike System Works and Namco because they're gooks. They turned on Capcom, but the average R/Kappa mentality is so small they don't realize non Capcom/NRS devs do it. How much did CS2 characters cost for Blazblue again?

Attached: 1521587418768.jpg (336x243, 19K)

>didn't say anything about them being mean
>Then the community's full of condescending fuckwads like yourself.

Everybody gets the new stage and it would be fucktarded if you had to pay for his alt costumes after buying the character

People turned on Capcom because they started making super shitty games and announcing tons of DLC before the games ever came out. It had nothing to do with the price of the DLC. When ArcSys or Namco start making complete trash, they will catch just as much shit as Capcom has been getting.

Has anyone here played Them's Fightin' Herds?

>Ed Boon was decimated by the fighting game community for additional DLC character packs

No, you don't understand. Ed Boon was decimated for adding FREE UNLOCKABLE characters in fighting games because HOW DARE HE this effects tourney play! Not like you're supposed to play and enjoy the single player games or anything...

Now you can sell characters to people and that's ok for some reason.

No.

I just want opinions from people who aren't ponyfags.

Namco hasn't, but ArcSys is getting there. I feel mad about wasting money on Xrd twice.

>Everybody gets the new stage
Not true, but even if it were that is 4 costumes + a Character. $8 is normal for that

> it would be fucktarded if you had to pay for his alt costumes
You are paying for them here, and new costumes coming out and costing money is hardly a novel concept

>Playing horsefuckers game
>Not being a horsefucker

Attached: 1451176795111.png (271x288, 9K)

>Everybody gets the new stage
They don't. It's the same with Geese.

Harada game has good gameplay, unlike boon's

>2018
>using a clamshell flip phone
This guy's the real deal.

Quite frankly the entire Fighting game genre is predatory of it's own kin so altogether I don't understand how anyone can stay in the FGC for a long period of time without going insane with blatant fanboyism and legitimate consumer cucking.

Case in point is what Arcsys is doing with their fighting games. Ever since DBFZ was released Xrd hasn't been given a single mention outside of it's creator stating that he'd like to simplify it, which caused a very legitimate uproar and then afterwards they released the Rev2.1 patch that can only be described as "the dev team is actually trying to kill the game now." because absolutely none of the changes brought forth from it made any sense and now we have May performing corner mix-ups with 50/50 cross-ups that only cost 25% meter and Johnny is quite literally game breaking against Chipp, Baiken and Pot because he's so contagiously overpowered now that none of those three have any sort of access or room to actually stop his pressure. The best they have is a 50/50 guess on whether they can go for a low P or K or try an overhead and hope it connects.

The worst part is that this isn't even unheard of. This is outright expected from the devs. Which just makes me scratch my head at people who take fighting games anymore seriously than mobile games because there's absolutely no longevity to any of them. The only exception being SSBMelee which ironically most of the FGC fucking hate it's guts.

Attached: Unrelated.jpg (1280x718, 113K)

That was back on 2012, and flip phones are a big thing on japan.

Attached: 81hi3DyfzLL._SL1500_.jpg (538x1500, 119K)

The game was dead on arrival and absolutely nothing you or the dev team will be able to make it alive.

Their and simultaneously, your first mistake was thinking absolutely anyone was going to actually buy that fucking game and play it even alone. Leave alone the fact that you faggots were unironically expecting literally ANYONE to actually pick the game up and play it in public with other people.

Do you guys even have a shred of self-awareness? Seriously, look at the fucking game. If there was ever a time I would look at a game-room, see a game being played and immediately come to the conclusion that the people are weird or autistic because of the game it'd be TFH. Even if it isn't pony related now, the art-style is very clearly reminiscent of that and early 2000's Flash cartoons which were pandered to fucking girls.

Attached: Displeased Asuka.jpg (750x741, 139K)

Rev 2.1 broke Rev? Didn't seem that way to me, I always figured May had that 25 tension mix up since vanilla. Which is bullshit that they made her a setplay character now. Xrd has been kinda dying, and I've lost what little interest I had left, since it sucks so hard compared to older ga-
>Melee is the only game that has longevity
Nice bait, but you won't get me this time. And here I thought you were serious.

Attached: 1521497455283.jpg (680x680, 62K)

No one cares about GG

People are acting like this is the first time Tekken has had some bizarrely out of place characters or cameos

In a game where some goon is flying around the screen with fucking wings, I think some little weeb twink is the least of the games aesthetic problems.

I didn't even say Melee has longevity, I was saying that it's the only game that's been around long enough to warrant the fact that it's been around for a long fucking time meanwhile most other fighting games literally live and die within a single year depending on whether or not the developers want to support it or not.

I'm not even in the slightest calling Melee good but I've got to hand it to the game, I've never seen a single game be so passionately and universally hated by a group of people simply by virtue of existence before.

I've been considering dropping fighting games entirely lately, after a thousand of hours there's nothing left but constant frustration

Attached: miku.png (534x468, 378K)

>The worst part is that this isn't even unheard of. This is outright expected from the devs.
That's modern video games in general. You're not going to have a good time getting invested into any of them.

Melee has an awful, embarrassing, autistic, and all around fremdschämen community. The only reason it's lasted as long as it has is becausd the community is so immature and childish that they refuse to let it die. It's a shitty Nintendo party game that had no competitive merit and only came as such because Nintendo did it.
As for being 'the longest running competetive game in history', games like Super Turbo and Third Strike are STILL popular literally decades after release. Daigo's whole Kemonomichi and the Co-Op Cup are testaments to that example. King of Fighters 98 is still popular, enough that SNK can milk that game and Mexicans would buy it. Capcom wouldn't prerelease those games numerous times if nobody didn't want or play them.
But whatever, those games don't have a fraction of Memelee's popularity, so my argument is invalid.

If anything, Tekken 7 needs more dlc. Maybe I feel that way because I bought the season pass, but the game feels kind of stale. Geese and Noctis are both good characters (characters that I tried out for a bit but don't really use anyway) but I can't help but wonder if there's something else coming later in the year. The wait is even more rough since they only do reveals at EVO or the Tekken Global Finals.

Tekken 7 is still a good game with at least 1 year more before namco cuts the world tour in favour of soulcal.

But the case with longevity that you make doesnt make sense, XRD is already 4 years old. Most FGs, even the ones from NRS, have at least 2 years of relevance. Thats a lot of time compared to the expected lifespan of any other multiplayer title thats not f2p nowadays.

I dont like the direction that fighting games are leaning towards either. I mean, did you see how BB crosstag early builds looked like? DBZF having almost no defensive options, not even pushblock. Safe homing and +vanish is honestly bullshit. Arc doesnt like defensive options. Capcom doesnt like them either, they are not EatSports. I already stopped playing street fighter but i think i will have to stop playing games made by Arc if it is going to be like this. French bread is still a good company though.

The only game i play nowadays is Tekken 7, hoping T8 will not be a dissapointment. T7 streamlined a lot of things compared to tag 2 but there are lots of hard things there to not be complete shit. I can always go to fightcade and play ST, hell i still play MB to this day. Thats the good thing about fighting games, you only need 2 people.

Tekken really needed more DLC but thats unlikely given that the dev time is already over. I mean, the game was out for 2 years on arcades before it was ported to consoles. But hey, thats tekken.

>Why is this even allowed?
>Are you more inclined to purchase "complete editions"?

Holy FUCK op, slow down. What do you want a thread full of essays? You're trying to condense 4 threads into one long shitty one.

Anyway, I can't speak for anybody else in this board because they're fucking psychopaths, but personally, I don't mind paying $8 for a character that was overseen by Harada because that man has a serious understanding on what makes a character balanced within a roster of more than 30 others. That being said, I still wouldn't pay for Noctis because the appeal of him comes with being a FFXV fan, which I'm not, because I've never even touched the game. THAT being said, I don't really have a choice because I bought the season pass with the game, so who's really the psychopath here?

Made sense to me, and i just got here. Keep arguing though, I'm just lurking for laughs.

>they specifically said that returning characters wouldn't be paid dlc
>that just meant that they wouldn't make any
>then sell a shitty season pass with no content, not even costumes (they were removed from the arcade version to sell as dlc)

The problem is that Harada was, for a long, long time against paid DLC and is now for it.
Give it until the next Tekken and people might wake up.
Personally I don't see the reason to get Tekken 7. They're trying to become more like Steet Fighter.

Also Mortal Kombat since 3 has always been a fucking rip off except for the Dark Alliance/Deception thing

what to do in order to casually approach noctis? Besides gitting gud that is. Can't run without taking a sword to the head

>Everybody gets the new stage

I wish that were true. I'm considering getting Noctis just for the stage and for completionist's sake since T7 is pretty much my favourite game of 2017 despite all the competition.

you mean his warp?
If you sidestep his warp it's basically a free combo.

>FREE UNLOCKABLE

What? Maybe they are now I don't know but they sure as hell weren't back when the game was relevant.

probably. I'm too retarded to run, sidestep then punish it. It's too fast

you sound like a idiot

name one fighting game that dont do this

Waku Waku 7

Well for one Tekken characters are significantly more complicated than mk and injustass since they have so many more moves and actual unique stuff to them. And 2 they're probably more expensive because of liscensing, especially noctis

what

I'm pretty sure some costume packs were leaked to be coming out in June so maybe they're announcing something at e3 like lei or other old characters. Harada said they'd never charge for legacy characters so I'm hoping it's true.

weebs looking for shit to hate mortal kombat

IO have a newfound respect for them. Smartphones are cancer.

Oh boy, a third bear

injustice and MK are shit games withe gameplay, for that reason their games always are dead even if they have biggest salen in the FGC, fucking uniel has more tournament pressence.

>for that reason their games always are dead
you have any facts about that

Yeah it's fucking dumb that DLC characters cost money, especially in a fighting game. At the very least though none of the DLC characters are particularly powerful, unlike in other games where they shit out OP as fuck characters to rake in more money and then nerf them a couple of weeks later.

Attached: 1515861715747.gif (554x343, 1.35M)

Well, I heard Injustice last evo finals was a complete snoozefest with supes zoning the hell out of the other dude. NRS games are good for parties with all those effects and shiny lights. People love seeing batman throw his car at you

Capcom has soured everyone's opinions of them so badly that all that matters is that a game isn't made by them. Capcom got so much shit (almost all of it deserved) at SFV release. Unfinished game, not enough content to justify the $60 price tag, shit netcode. Yet when given the opportunity to bury Capcom with Tekken 7, Scamco completely botches the chance. Tekken 7 launched with the exact same problems. Barely any content. Your season pass gets you fucking bowling and 2 characters. That promise of legacy characters? It was complete bullshit. Full price for what was actually a 2 year old game that added very little to the console/home version.

The reason nobody calls out Scamco on this shit? Literally they're not Capcom. That's how bad Capcom fucked up with SFV and MvC:I. Doesn't matter anyways, fighting games are fucking dead. Esports is killing the FGC and devs are killing the genre. We literally have 2 of the bigger fighting games coming out this year one being a 2button fighter the other being a 1button fighter.

Fuck it, that Catherine remaster needs to hurry up already. It's just about the only thing that can save fightan and the FGC.

Attached: 49852489.jpg (480x360, 19K)

I wish they would add missing classic characters or make some new characters based on real life fighting styles. Getting sick of these projectile spamming guests.

THIS
everyone on that board is always spewing shit about how Capcom is greedy for shitting out DLC, but at the same time get "hyped" when Arc literally does the same thing.
is it just a reddit thing?

this

>’season pass’
>only has 2 characters

Actually literally inexcusable

Attached: C5BE694E-B244-45F5-83BB-A7AA3BA00285.jpg (351x351, 30K)

>And 2 they're probably more expensive because of liscensing, especially noctis
You think it's a coincidence he showed up in Tekken around the same time as FFXV Windows Edition? If they're charging anything for license fees it's too much because this is basically advertising for themselves.

The season pass doesn’t include Eliza so it’s two characters for 25 dollyroos

say game is dead its now

Attached: mkx (2).jpg (1358x171, 44K)

most of the people who bitch about fighting games DLC on Sup Forums don't play fighting games, they just want to shitpost

Well to be fair, also the stages, costumes, and the bowling mode which is legit fun with a friend.

>2stages
>costumes are all from the arcade release but were removed from the console game and sold in the season pass
>tekken bowl is offline only

>2k for a few years old fighter on pc
that's genuinely a lot

MUH KAPPA
living rent free in delusional capcuk's heads
tekken launched for $50 btw, compare that to boon's games with $100 and $200 editions with gay skins and pre-order locked characters
the difference is obvious

blazblue cross tag whatever is literally right there bro

People who wait for complete editions don’t really play fighting games so their opinion doesn’t matter. SFV handled DLC character well that you could earn them or buy them, kind of sad not even Capcoms following fighting game took inspiration from that.

>more than Streetlol, dooberz, and kekken
Based Boon.

Not as out of place as it was in fucking Assasin's Creed

>Arcade still has loads more costumes and customization items
>Costumes that are in the fucking story mode and treasure battle still aren't available for the player to use
