Are you ready for video game kino?

readyplayerone.wikia.com/wiki/Ready_Player_One_(film)#List_of_References

Jesus Christ, just look at all those vidya references. And this is only what people have found SO FAR. The movie isn't even out yet.

Is this it? Is this the video game movie we've been waiting for?

I Want to see if Ambra get more than the tip of her head showing in the movie.

It's not a videogame and it's most certainly isnt kino.

Name a single movie or show where pop culture references have been good.

This thread went south fast. I guess that's what you get for airing a shit opinion.

The big bang theory.

Pillage-it Pete was pretty good, that's because the referential stuff was purely background stuff that wasn't focal the the main plot.
The trailers for the second one look pretty bad though

Isn't that the list that has CIA on it

sonic boom. i expected a shitty kids show. the writing was surprisingly good.

UHF

The X-Files. Because the references were few and far between, and not just the current most popular fad misinterpreted by old out of touch writers. Well most of the time. There was the "First Person Shooter" episode but we don't talk about it.

i was thinking about this movie today...

...when i was a kid there was this comedy show called "ciro" and they had several comedy sketch

one of the sketch was based on tomb raider and it's goofy animation

that tomb raider comedy sketch looked a thousand times better than this

>Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The final egg is held by Frank Reynolds (Danny DeVito) who offers "would you like an egg in this trying time?" then the movie ends

I'm fucking dying over here

> (x) is seen during the final battle

So basically they just needed a bunch of extras to fill the screen and put in everything they could possibly think of???

helps having one of the show runners behind Drawn Together working on it

no it's complete cringe. the entire movie is I 'Member.

The fate of all fatties.

I liked it better when it was called the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny.

Yeah, "references". That just means you see them for half a second in the background. Its only their backs, and you need to pause the movie and zoom in just to see that.

You had one job. Also "Hey, remember all these other things you liked?" doesn't automatically make a thing good, it usually just makes you look like Family Guy.

Alex Garland more or less ghost directed it and no one saw Annihilation

Edgar Wright *did* make a video game movie. It just wasn't an adaptation of a game, it was based on a comic.

It's no coincidence that all the best video game movies aren't based on video games.

I just noticed that only one of her eye is colored.

I've got reserved seats at the AMC. Will be enjoying this without worrying about niggers because they refuse to pay 18$ a person for their whole baboon family.

These movies are always about how normies think videogames are like.

I refuse to believe a lot of this is real. Someone's obviously pulling my leg.

How come they agree to be mixed together in a movie then?

Because its Steven Spielberg, and the studio probably paid them, meaning they didn't have to lift a finger and just cashed the check.

I got bad news, these references are the ones from just the TRAILERS. You can already see all of them.
The full movie will have EVEN MORE.

I'm still made this was made into a movie but we're probably never going to get a Snow Crash movie.

why does it have an entire wiki dedicated to it?

>Go to see this movie in theaters
>Someone claps when his favorite overwatch character appears on screen
>Kid loses his shit when fortnite character pops up
>Moviebob creams his pants when Mario is on screen
>gamegirl claps when Zelda says her line

I'm just wondering who portrays the likeness for some of these characters or are they just CGI?

it's all just a meme

Tell me how a 2 hour long commercial directed by a Jew would ever be "kino"?

>big smoke can be seen eating a burger
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

>the book is literally just references and nothing else
>everything shown from the movie so far is also nothing but just references
A movie that just says "HEY REMEMBER THIS?" with no actual story or is barely even a movie at all.

Anyone who is actually looking forward to this at all is a retarded pleb. Maybe spielberg can pull something out of it but there's been nothing to show that so far.

Literally meme culture in general and all of you faggots actively participate in it.

I know it's been done a lot, but this time it actually is Reddit: the movie.

I think everything in the VR world is done with CG.

This is a movie about VR but everytime you try to talk about VR on this board it gets shitposted to death but now you're excited because it's full of cameos?

This is basically a huge advertisement
This is going to start so many damn remasters and reboots. Hell it might even cause more movies to be made
> I’ll still watch it though because I’ve been reading and watching too much serious stuff and I just want something to laugh at or with

Guardians Of The Galaxy
Suicide Squad
Ready Player One

Truly the era of redditkino

Spielberg is a talentless hack.

I watched the movie yesterday.
You barely notice 99% of those characters because they appear for a fraction of a second and the lighting often makes it difficult to tell characters apart.

If you actually looked through the thread at all you would clearly see nobody wants this garbage at all. OP is just shitposting i assume.

Besides, if VR was anything like shown in this movie then it would definitely be worth talking about. VR in real life right now is a fucking joke and a complete waste of money.

It's just reddit adding false information to the wiki

>Dark Souls: A Mushroom Parent and a Mushroom Child are briefly seen entering the Oasis.

Kys me already god
i dont want to feel this

Settle down, Uwe Boll.

I don't trust a single one of those references.
It's all a huge troll attempt.

Yea, but the one I read is a translated version so I can't vouch for the quality of the original writing though. Those references exist for a meaningful reason in the context of the story though, so I won't say it is reference: the book.

Basically the book depict a dystopian society which is out of fossil fuel, everyone living like shit because everything is on quota. However, Oasis is a VR-world everyone can live normally, work as a virtual employee while getting paid and get their education for free.

Once the creator of the Oasis died, he initiate a easter egg contest and the winner can inherit Oasis, which is basically owning the world where every people live their daily lives. The creator himself is a geek born and grown up in 80s, can't blame him for being nostalgic about everything in 80s. After all, the future sucks.

Once the contest begins, everyone study the creator's past hence why every easter egg hunters are obsessed with the 80s stuff as well. And no one enjoy the dystopian culture obviously, the craze about the 80s is just there because of the stagnation of the society and the contest. The trend died down very soon in the book. No one could find the easter egg for many years after the contest begins until the protagonist found the first key and reignite the craze of the hunt.

The plot is very cliche, but it has some good moments.
