I've just started this, why does everything feel low budget as shit?
Is the OST at least good while I run around lads?

the story is so shit, i don't understand anything that's going on and every character looks like straight from a homosexual YA novel
How do you reboot a game that has a thin story and somehow make it worse?
>why does everything feel low budget as shit?
it´s a EA game and the only reason they made it because they thought that sjw actually buy games
People will blame feminism but the reality is ME1 was lightning in a bottle and EA didn't know what to do with it.
Wew this combat is laughably bad
Nothing about this game makes sense. Open World for no real reason. Remove guns but somehow make combat worse. Reboot it to attempt to tell a better story but end up with worse writing. What even went on?
At least the free running is alright since it's literally just ME1 and not many have emulated it
>Game is focused on the flow of running
>Introduce collectables that you have to stop to pick up
What were they actually smoking. This is full of legit bad game design
>all the npcs are just hanging out on the roof
>open-world sequel
>there's somehow even less paths to get to where you're going than in the linear original
Dropped. Waste of six dollars.
I paid 5 after Sup Forums told me to go for it
>Start a challenge
>Told the route doesn't matter, only the end goal
>End marker isn't shown anywhere in the game
I can't remember the last time I played a game with this many baffling decisions behind it and I'm barely 2 hours in. I'm pretty sure the guys behind the original ME weren't behind this because there's a gross misunderstanding of the original game here
this. There's no way that EA would have made a sequel as tight and satisfying as the first without needlessly complicating it. Catalyst should have literally been the same movement and arguably same combat as the first but more levels and a bigger story, that's it. No stupid rpg system, no open world.
bump
From what I've seen it looks much better than the original, what's the problem with this game besides the story?
It was okay... Kinda not worth unfortunately
Combat is worse than the first game in different ways. Where the worst parts of the first game was where it forced you to fight using heavy guns that restricted your movement, the best combat bits were the parts when you were escaping and choose if it was worth it to try and take an enemy down. In
ME wasn't even good. You think a sequel would be?
Continued because I'm a retard. In Catalyst, the game forces you to fight these big enemies at points that legit take about 5 minutes to whittle down their health. The open world is one of the most useless and pointless open worlds I've ever seen. They should have gone with the first game's individual levels and just made the levels bigger and deeper with more paths to approach your objectives. Instead, this open world is so fucking poorly designed that you'll be taking the same route every time.
Fell for the open world meme and couldn't do it right.
Also visually the first game is probably better
Remember when Faith actually looked like a female instead of some mutt hybrid?
Maybe it's just rendered better or not as uncanny valley, but I'll take over this any day and I didn't even play Catalyst.
Kind of pissing me off how the game tries to encourage different routes but if your destination is a building over you're pretty much set to one path to reach the bridge to take you there
pretty sad, game had potential, they should have made it less linear/more open but not open world
I like the idea of mirrors edge but i find that its really linear and i feel that the setting of tall buildings and skyscrapers really limits the parkour elements.
The aesthetics of this game are beautiful in that white but very colorful cyberpunk.
it'd be awesome with the openness of crysis 1 although it'd be very hard to execute in the kind of environment ME has
she looks better dick head
>mutt hybrid?
She's a hapa in catalyst.
I don't think the first one is, even in Catalyst I've found some routes but sometimes I feel kind of obligated to follow the red because of the bridge. If you try running your own way you basically end up at impassable objects
reminds me of teen Bill Kaulitz
The story was shit in the first game, you dolt. The whole point is the neat parkor stuff.
i pirated this when it first came out and got about 20 minutes in, to where it introduced the skill trees and did a hard NOPE.
i feel kind of bad about ditching it so early on since i enjoyed the first game so much. but the open world meme plus skill trees just turned me off so hard. is it actually worth playing? is it fun?
Pros
>keeps the stellar art design
>cities look and feel big and complex
>the gameplay is much more fluid
>custom runs
>atmospheric music
>open world
Cons
>open world
>all chaotic placement of climbable setpieces
>nothing feels as streamlined as last game
>shit story
>combat is somehow even worse
>small specific sections that connect districts you will see a dozen times
>side quest are uninteresting filler
>bogus skills
Its not a bad game, it just feels watered down. The last game was slick and constantly moving and engaging. I constantly find myself just stopping and hitting my map just to find something to do. The city looks great though.
I think its worth a once through. The open world is a meme. Takes a lot of the streamlined design out. But if you stick to the story, the exclusive levels are still great. Story still blows though.
I'd agree with this
Never played the first one should i give it a go ?
Watch a preview or something, but yes.
