It's a grind. Base gameplay is the best the series has ever had and the map design is wonderful, but it really starts to wear on you once you realize virtually every single job pays absolute shit and everything is overpriced.

Also has the worst community I've ever encountered in my entire gaming history. I've been hacked by Russians, Chinese, and Brazilians maybe two dozen times since it came out on PC.

It is if you've played for a long time. Once you have all the vehicles you want then all that's left is freeroam pvp because rockstar doesn't give a shit about the pve aspect of the game. If you're new the game is great though, there's a ton of content to go through

Just look for GTAV mods that add Online's content to SP.

It's boring as fuck because 50% of the time is just downtime:

>loading
>finding players
>selecting character setups/settings

It's a big fucking chore, and one player leaving can trigger a 5-10 minute downtime. Even with 3 other friends just doing heists, there was enough downtime to bore me. We came back to the game in late 2017 after quitting in 2015 due to bugs, but the downtime was atrocious.

How does a developer make a videogame where over half the time is spent waiting in menus and loading screens? How can Rockstar make such an amazing fucking game and then just shit the bed in this one aspect?

>hackers and exploiters give themselves billions of dollars
>instead of fixing the exploits and punishing the hackers, they make everything cost several million dollars
>don't improve payouts to make the legit players able to catch up
Worse than Todd desu

>one player leaving can trigger a 5-10 minute downtime
I was excited when I heard about 2 and 3 player heists, thought maybe I'd be able to go through the originals with the two friends I play the game with, or at least continue after our 4th dropped out five feet away from the end. Then it was only the Doomsday heists, and players 3 and 4 leaving still makes you fail

T'was fun last gen, up untill the first heists came out and it went downhill afterwards. The new shit that come out are all above 2 million in game currency. Rockstar desperately wanting players to buy thier stupid Shark Cards, at that moment I dropped the game instantly and went back to playing San Andreas online and GTA 4 MP.

GTA4 MP still has players?

>Base gameplay is the best the series has ever had
Have to disagree. Even though it is a 2013 game that has gotten some minor extras added later on, the gameplay is lacking in so many areas. Obvious shit like the melee, the lack of accessible interiors, and imo the movement feels so clunky despite originating in GTA 4. The list can go on and on. I'm mixed about the map however. On one hand, Los Santos is a nice city, but on the other hand there's a huge waste of space called the Tongva Hills and Grand Senora Desert, and a few others. There really should've been a lesser city north of Los Santos that isn't the sorry excuse of Paleto Bay and Sandy Shores.

This. I used to play with my friends when it first came out, but then we stopped after a little while. Recently started playing again on PC with a friend and i remembered why i stopped. It's a fucking chore to even get into a game with a friend. I couldn't even figure out how to start a heist with him. No to mention sometimes it takes minutes to load anything or it will just freeze while loading. What a pile of shit. So much potential wasted

Surprisingly yes, but not many. Shame since it's miles better than GTA V's online.

The gameplay is actually pretty fun, especially with friends, but the whole thing is ultimately really pointless after a while.

You are just grinding and grinding, and sitting through way too long fucking loading screens - seriously, the waiting is about 70% of your gametime in Online.

I was lucky enough to get about 35 mills from some Korean hackers, bought all the high end shit that was available then so I didn't have to worry about grinding. If I had to grind through the same old boring missions to get money, I wouldn't have played more than a few days I think. The payouts are ridiculously low, and it that's because they're selling you game money for real money, so won't ever change.

I'm really, really fucking hoping RDR2 won't be the same. Hopefully some hackers drop dem stacks on me there as well.

>I'm really, really fucking hoping RDR2 won't be the same
It won't be the same. Just worse.

I was happy to just find a ragtag group of randos that were actually interested in finishing up the Pacific Standard Heist.

PS3 is otherwise a modder hell zone these days. Usually, they keep to themselves, but sometimes, some make it rain money. Some drain your money from your bank account, some boost your level, some tank it. Some even just get bored and send the whole server into three years of Bad Sport.

No real telling what you're gonna get when you play on PS3.

Yes.

I actually tried this shit recently and was utterly shocked. This trash has a worse grind than most MMORPGs. If you want to buy a shitty car that doesn't handle any differently than any of the other shitty cars in the game you need to farm cash for like 20 hours. Not to mention the 5 minute load times and horrific UI. What the fuck is this? How is this acceptable? This game is an atrocity.

It's just a huge chore. You spend hours grinding missions for what? Faster cars to grind missions with? A jet to troll newbs with? A yatch that does nothing or other facilities that require so much time and effort to make a return on investment you're better off saving your money and robbing love life lichor stores.

I like grinding the same jobs with different vehicles I buy, I was actually surprised when I found out there was more than heists and races, I've only bought the hangar and the plane missions are fun.

It honestly feels like after Rockstar finished GTA V, they dumped the online portion on a bunch of unpaid interns. It's like night and day going from story mode to online.

Even warframe has better grind than this shit.

No, it's a slightly above average co-op game to play with FRIENDS.

Supreme autists here play it alone for the sole purpose of grinding, and find it unfair that you "have to" grind to get new items, as if playing the game isn't the point and receiving unlocks is.

yes there's countless horrible design decisions they still exist in it's current version. First and foremost bullet proof helmets. A head shot was a one hit kill no matter the level no matter the weapon. Each rank up you get you gain health. So unless someone's actually willing to take off that helmet you're at their mercy if you're a significantly lower level than them. With the choice to put heavy sniper and rpg at higher ranks it's makes the pvp even more one sided. At high rank almost all combat becomes rocket swapping since the blast goes through walls and you have a very limited ability to doge. Using sticky bombs to kill deny is also bullshit. Some things they did make sense like a kuruma being bullet resistant but weak to blasts, and the insurgent being weak to bullets but resistant to blast. But the base combat mechanics are absolute rubbish besides rolls having a sort of cooldown timer. The scripting for a lot of heists is garbage too. Like if some dude rushes the guy in the prison break heist and the demolition guy has not got the bus to the air field and destroyed it yet it'll makes the quest fail the second he gets out of the bus. There's countless little things like that. Car passenger doors are not automatically set to open for your heist crew either. So there's always that fag that dosen't remember his settings gets in his end game sports car alone then rushes to the objective stars the timer and makes the mission fail before most of the team even gets there.

>can't even make sexy characters
What is even the point?

yes, it's fucking awful

>Playing with strangers
This shit was even worse than grinding the motorcycle club missions to get money. Luckily i had some friend that help me alot through the infinite grinding but after 300 hours i had enough. Thanks to an hack i unlock almost everything, and even with that i ran out of money. I'm not gonna touch it again. I am quite sure that RDR2 will be even worse than GTAV.

>rdr2's story is just a 5 hour long tutorial for the basic mechanics of online missions

It's bad enough on its own, but it also killed the possibility of any single player expansions.

Its fun to run the heists once or twice and to make movies in the editor which is what I mostly did but grinding or any of that crap is not fun at all.

It could of been so much better using factions like san andreas territories where people joined various gangs but instead its this weird "dont be a dick and grief people during missions cause theres no pay off for even doing it."

The new mega heist is the only heist ever so far where you can actually steal vehicles and things from other players to use them on your own heist but other than that, its a very negative thing to do not just morally but wastes your own money to pay for missles and stuff to destroy heavy armored stuff.

The only way around this is to jet or heli fag people nonstop with free missles that you can spawn.
